Stopped by a couple of times last week for dinner and appears that they have shut down.

I am degrading my review from 4 stars to 2 stars. The menu has changed, and it has its stronger points, but limiting the menu is not going to save you on the quality. I’ve has the empanadas during happy hour, the center was frozen. The cost for each meal is way too high for what you are getting. I could go right around the corner and get better tasting Mexican food at Riveira maya for sometimes half the price and larger portions! Not to mention they actually have a halfway decent happy hour, another important staple to keep customers coming back. It’s too bad this place couldn’t turn itself around. I hope new ownership will help in getting the restaurant renovated and a whole new menu/cuisine.

Very disappointed with the food. As a person who knows their Mexican food, I was offended to be served the food I received. I went once and was disappointed so decided to give it another try. Second time came around and the food was still bad. As for the customer service, it was great! The place has potential if they step up their food game. I’d go back, only for the beer and atmosphere but would never touch their food again!

Went for dinner and they changed the menu to where there is no more good food from the old menu. Staff was hanging out playing pool and the thought of it being a Mexican oriented atmosphere with no Mexican food is terrible.

Good chips and salsa. Loved the fried alligator and their fries are fantastic! Great prices, worth a try.

Kids liked it and the portions were generous. The service(Rose) was what made the meal truly exceptional. My boys were very taken with her and they even remarked about this place having the nicest waitress of all. :) The food was great. Steak chimichanga was outstanding!

The food is what America think is Mexican food should be. Not good Mexican food. Overpriced. Flies indoor by your food. Décor is cheesy, Mexican paper products and they didn’t even have a good Mexican beer on tap, or bottle for that matter. They also stream alternative/rock music.

I searched for alligator meat and found that this place was the closest to me. Online it didn’t look too bad. I finally found it. thanks to Google maps taking me on every local street in Denville. Anyway. When I got there, I thought it was closed. Kinda desolate. Ok i knew I didn’t want to stay and have the entrée which I think i should have. I got the alligator tenders for $ 12. Funny the guy at the bar had to ask the kitchen if they were in season… I didnt see«seasonal» on the menu. They were ready in like 8 minutes. The place was empty. .no biggie it was early. The décor seemed fun yet cheesy. Very clean. The alligator tenders had WAY too much batter coating and NOTHING was seasoned. Yuck. They give you some honey sauce that I drowned the tenders in with some salt and pepper I found in my car. .then it was ok. For the amount of little nuggets(they look more like fried clams) and the work I had to do, I wonder if $ 12 was the right price. For a Mexican spot… they need more spice. Overall it was ok. I’m sure they do other things well.

We have eaten a number of times at the Rattlesnake Cantina in the past. Tonight’s dinner was a major disappointment. The first basket of chips that came out were stale. The second basket the chip were so over fried they tasted terrible. I ordered sizzling chicken fajitas. When my dinner came out, the chicken was literally ice cold. The waitress apologized and brought out a second plate. The chicken on the plate was cut into small cubes like the chicken you would find on a salad. It was bland chicken with no seasoning at all. My wife ordered a chimichanga. The meal was hot, but the tortilla was soft and«gooey». I looked at the recent reviews on Unilocal and it seems the restaurant has gone seriously downhill. So sad…

I loved this place when I worked in the area 15 years ago and happened to pass by so I stopped in with my wife. I should have kept on driving past. What used to be wonderfully flavorful Mexican fare has been replaced by bland tasting uninspiring food. The steak fajitas consisted mostly of barely chewable grey meat that may have been leftovers from days before. Service was almost non-existent. About the only thing to recommend this place was the salsa and chips that were still very serviceable. Ali in all it looks like the place has given up and just does not care anymore. Do you yourself a favor there is much better Mexican food in the area.

This place has gone downhill and here’s the reason why: there is a nasty ass waitress who is probably in her late 30’s, brunette and has a bad spray tan who is one of the rudest people I’ve encountered. I didn’t deal with her directly but the way she spoke to to bartender and other staff was so inappropriate I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a hostile work environment lawsuit against this place for keeping her around. Her demeanor destroyed any prior recommendations I gave about this place.

It’s really the Rattlesnake Ranch Café. Don’t understand the 2 star overall. Been there twice recently. Food was excellent. Service was good(depending on who you get) Most of the servers are very friendly and efficient. Atmosphere is very pleasant and comfortable, both inside and out. Good variety on the menu. Ribs & Shrimp/Avocado Salad were excellent(& generous). Wings, Chile & Black Bean Soup were noteworthy. Portions were plentiful. Groupon helps. Olé! Already looking forward to next visit. Good local place(and I’m not local).

Food was a little expensive. Put when place am order we revived large portions of food. I was quit surprised. The service was very slow. This place has looks and feels like it wood be a great place if they lower the price and have better staff

Like other long time Denville residents, I have been witness to this place from when it first opened to the dire straits that it is in now. And, like most residents, eagerly awaiting for this business to be put out of its misery and have something good open in that spot again. We went recently to try again after the new management took over just to see where things stood. There is absolutely nothing fresh coming out of that kitchen anymore, in fact I cringe to think what that kitchen even looks like. The entrees are certainly not cheap. I had some enchiladas which was basically served as three layers, the enchilada, topped with a layer of cheese, topped with a layer of grease from the cheese melting under the salamander. Frankly I could make a mediocre enchilada and melt a bag of of the kraft mexican blend shredded cheese over it and probably come out better. My GF got a burger cooked into oblivion despite asking for medium. In hindsight they probably did her a favor in helping her not get sick of their beef. The other notable event that happened was when they served my GF her drink. There was literally a piece of cheddar cheese that looked like it had been melted and glued to the side of the cup during the dish washing process. How they could have grabbed this cup, filled it, and given it to her without noticing that glaring piece of cheese is beyond me. So no, never again. To those outside Denville, there are so many better places you can go for Tex-Mex nearby. Please stop coming by, let this place go so that something better may move in eventually.

Not bad, A bit surprised about the 2-star overall rating. It took them over 5 minutes to seat us around 1:15PM on a friday, and the restaurant was dead. Wasn’t a good start. The food however I thought was decent, and fairly priced. Good portions. I went with the Habanero chicken, which I thought was quite delicious and well presented. Extremely spicy, but memorable. The service was nothing to rave about, but good for a nice afternoon lunch. Bar service available. Overall, something I’d stick to for a casual meal. Don’t go out expecting a nice fancy dinner date, because you will be disappointed.

I don’t eat entrees hear often as I’m usually here with my rugby crowd. I’ve always liked the guacamole so I chow down with that. Tonight as a special the had sautéed kale with Chorizo. Very very tasty with a nice hint of garlic.

You can tell this place has potential and may have even been an excellent restaurant back in the day. Alas, it no longer is top tier as the wait staff, at least our waitress, seemed to want to be anywhere but at the Rattlesnake last Thursday. She did a good job but gave off a vibe that the end of the night couldn’t come soon enough. We ordered the wings for an appetizer. They were okay although they were a little dry. I ordered the stuffed BBQ cheddar burger. It tasted like Burger King complete with the tough gristle pieces in every bite. My wife ordered the chimichanga which was quite good. I would go back to see if it was just an off night. The menu has a lot of intriguing items. Not recommended.

I’m surprised at the 2 star rating of this place. They aren’t 5 star worthy but they’re certainly better than a two. Rattlesnake is a Tex-Mex restaurant located in the end of a strip mall. Right away you know parking won’t be an issue which is already a plus. Seeing how they’re at the end they managed to create a very large outdoor patio which must be great during the warmer months. The restaurant is spacious and they feature a small bar as well as a pool table and dart board. I ordered a burger while my girlfriend got the pulled pork tacos. I was very happy with my burger which was huge, had a great grill flavor, and was cooked close enough to how I ordered it. It also came with a side of seasoned fries which were obviously the non homemade kind but delicious none the less. The tacos come with four tortillas(soft or hard) and a platter to make your own. I’ve never seen this and think it’s a fantastic idea. It comes with plenty of lettuce, tomato, cheese, beans, rice, and meat to have four hardy tacos. The pork was tender but didn’t have much flavor to it but other than that it was tasty. The waiter never asked what type of beans my girlfriend wanted(she had a choice of pinto, black, or re-fried) and he forgot to ask me how I wanted my burger cooked and had to come back later to ask. Other than that the service was ok. I would have been more inclined to give them 3.5 or 4 stars but the drinks(Margaritas and Sangria) were on the pricier side and as delicious as they were, contained very very little alcohol. No bueno Rattlesnake, I really wanted something with a bite to it.(see what I did there).
