This is good ‘ol diner food! I have only gotten breakfast here. Everytime I have come here the food has always been good, nothing great but, good! Everything it should be and nothing it shouldn’t be! The place is always busy when I come in, and yet the nice people alway find me a seat. Wait staff you might have to waive them over! Overall it’s a good place for diner breakfast. –Brent

Like the omelets, and my boys enjoy the breakfast. Not fond of the lunch or dinnerv menu, but the daily specials sometimes have a hidden gem. It’s worth the stop, especially if you grab a frequent Groupon

The Derby version of the local Wichita café. Yes, they’ve updated to real plates from melmac. The servers are nice(in a hurry) and always willing to fulfill any requests. $ 5 for a couple eggs, great bacon and a big pancake. Remember. This is a local café, home pictures on the wall, and other small nuances. They’ll make sure you coffee cup is full.

Won’t be returning to Riverside Café. Service was so-so, food nothing special, and seemed overpriced. Too many great places to eat to waste visits on bleh…

Food was pretty typical for a small diner. That said they have a large selection and it was delicious. There was a short wait but the service was quick and the staff very friendly. One thing to note however is the up charge for toast and side potatoes when ordering. My daughter and I ordered the Hungry Woman combo to share and the server asked all the usual questions(how do you like your eggs, white or wheat, biscuit or pancake, hash browns or fried potatoes) and we just rattled off our selections only to have $ 1.99 up charge for the toast and the same for hash browns. Same with my brother who ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs. Now it may have been(and probably is) noted somewhere on the menu that there are extra charges for certain items however I never noticed it. Not a huge deal or a deal breaker but if your not expecting extra charges it could be problematic. All in all, good food … decent prices … and a cosy retro-ish ambiance will probably bring us back.

Went back to Riverside Café in Derby for a 2nd time. My wife had the turkey, dressing, etc. which she enjoyed. I had the ½ lb. burger and fries which was your run of the mill, ho-hum, frozen patty and a disappointingly small portion of fries(though they were very good.) Will probably just stick with their breakfast next time I go in if I go back…

If you like the original riverside location then you will love this one too. The food is still very good with a wide range of American classics. The only thing that can’t match the original Riverside location is the atmosphere. I always felt like I was walking into the 1950s, where as this one suffers from being located in a strip mall. But hey you probably came to eat here and you won’t be disappointed.
