Vegetarians beware – there literally is not a single vegetarian item on the dinner menu – not even the salads. When I asked about it, the server said what they usually do is the pasta without the chicken, then add the vegetable fo the day. The veggie of the day? Corn. Seriously. I declined the corn but had the pasta, which was actually quite good. The service was lovely and friendly, and the low score is for the utter lack of choice or availability of fresh veggies.

This place is open to the public — so here we go…
YUK!
The restaurant is attached to the Embassy suites in downtown Des Moines, so when the weather outside is frightful, you kinda hope the food inside is delightful. No such luck. It is not that the food is bad, it is just not good food. I don’t think they have a chef, more of a kitchen manager who opens cans and jars and takes stuff out of the freezer to deep fry it.
The hotel is undergoing a huge renovation (Great rooms!), I hope the restaurant gets an overhaul too.
