It’s a fun place with something going on most knives. I’ve never tried the food but it smells good.

Great place if you want a quiet place to grab a drink. The food is great and the cook Peter is awesome. James the bar tender is as good as it gets.

Bad bloody Mary’s and inedible French fries while the odor of urinal cakes seeps from the bathroom. The sandwiches looked good… until only a couple of hours later.

It hurts me to only give this place 3 stars. It was a cute little bar in a very quiet area. Upon entering, I could tell that everybody that was there was a regular. The whole entire place was clean, good music was playing, and a hockey game was on. Awesome! The bar also had padding along the edges so your elbows don’t get sore, which I’ve NEVER seen before. It took a sad turn when we interacted with the bartenders. So rude! They act like they don’t want you there. At all. I asked one of the bartenders if they had anything WITHOUT hops, because I’m allergic to beer, and she goes, «Uh. No.» and looks at me like I’m stupid. Okay… Cool. My boyfriend was trying to play their pull tab game, and to play you have to buy the tabs from the bartender. We waited ten minutes and they didn’t ask us if we needed anything. Finally, we said excuse me and they just go, «Yes?» We bought the tabs and didn’t win anything, sadly, but went on to play darts. That was fun, at least! There was a little dog running around the bar which caught me off guard but he was adorable and so friendly! He is literally the reason why this place has it’s third star. Without him, it’d be two stars. This place is awesome and would definitely be a four or five star if it wasn’t for the rude ass bartenders. Hope they take some courses in customer service soon!

I was pulling in to look at the place cause it looked good and bartender had the nastiest look on her face. Great way to pull in customers

I was here for a paint n’ sip class. A groupon I’d purchased. I’d never been here before, and unless I’m in the area by chance I probably won’t return. It’s a dingy dive bar(no offense, that’s my jam!) but I have my local dive’s I frequent and this is out of my area. It’s dark, small, low ceilinged, and somewhat nautical themed. The drinks were strong, average price, and the employees seemed nice enough. In addition to the bar there were pub tables and booths. I think they had a food menu but I didn’t check it out. If you’re into the local rough crowd and looking for a place where, unless you become a regular, no one will remember your name, this may be the place for you! If you’re looking for something a little less underground feeling and fancier, keep walking.

The owner of this place is such a piece of s – t. He sold the admiral pub in west seattle just recently. Trying to Stick the buyer with over 50,000 $ of his back taxes. Loser!

This is a nice place. I hear it used to be dodgey. I really like this place they have some awesome brosted chicken and if you ask you can get the chicken wings brosted as well the beer selection is decent and you can normally fall into a good conversation at the bar. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Beware! The owner of this establishment(also owner of Admiral Pub) has stolen out of my pocket! He signed a contract for services and did not pay! No honor, no integrity, no business being in business. Support other local establishment that are not crooks.

This place used to be rough. I never went there unless with a group including guys. Now it’s clean, friendly– did I just say friendly about a northwest place? Friendly bartender, friendly crowd, mix of ages. Great beer selection, great happy hour, great fresh food, great service. The margaritas are better than at any of the other places in town. All this and at decent prices. This is where I take co-workers or meet friends and family after work. It’s a Cheers kind of place now. I feel comfortable stopping in by myself for a dark beer and juicy burger on my way home when I’m too tired to cook. From time to time, there’s a woman who will read your cards for free — a bit of fun. I’m looking forward to patio weather. Definitely a place to go out of your way for. Enjoy a sunset walk along the water, then– to the lighthouse.

I usually don’t come here but I needed a quick bite and I heard the food was good so I thought I would stop in. The basic salad wasn’t great but that’s ok the Chipotle Fries were yummy and I had the BEST margarita I’ve ever had(ONLY made by Ian)… I’m picky about margaritas, I usually don’t order them… I was very surprised. Its not a fancy place with candles or lighting that make you look prettier. :) I simply enjoyed my visit… best hour I spent that day.

Went to the lighthouse again and I love it even more! The bartender is great. He is always in a great mood and he never disappoints us when it comes to awesome service. The chef is great and the food was fantastic. We had the clam strips and a burger and they were both delicious. This place is clean, friendly, and gives off such a good vibe. We will most definitely be back again!

This place has really changed! The crowd is super low key, they all seem to be watching sports. There is TV’s everywhere. Not really my thing until football season. Anyways I went there with my husband and I had the burger he had the sirloin with a baked potato. They serve the steak on a stonegrill, it smelled so good and omg the taste. I’m pretty sure I haven’t tried something that good in awhile. The steak also came with a baked potato and they have a potato bar where you can fill er up! I got the burger, it almost reminded me of an in and out burger but better, if that is possible. It was so good! The fries fresh cut and fried, also very good. The bartender with the accent is really great, the place was packed and he never seemed flustered or not in control. Also very nice! Overall I would call The Lighthouse the best kept secret in Des Moines. One more thing, I tried the fried chicken once too, best I’ve had in I don’t know how long. This place has great service, amazing food and decent prices.

What ever this used to be called they upgraded a lot! This place used to be a bit sketchy, so I always stayed away from it. Now, I don’t feel bad if I take my mother here. LOL. Weird, but I like to study while inside lounges and bars. Most people prefer the library but for some reason lately i’ve been able to focus better at locations such as this. The colors used were entirely too dark, but they have surely upgraded and I likey. I’ll be back, again and again that’s for sure!

Since this has re-opened it is a nice local bar. We have not tried the stonegrill yet but the happy hour is very good. Typical bar appetizers and a great price and drinks are also a great price.

Nope. I’ve driven by this place for years and seen the guy in the chicken suit hawking fried chicken dinners, so I popped in one night to try it out. It was NOTBUSY so there was no excuse, but I was completely ignored. I sat at the bar while the bartender and another person(who may have been training) talked and never even turned around. Decided I’d waited long enough and left. Doesn’t matter how good the fried chicken might have been; I’ll never know ‘cuz I won’t be back.

Basically the last place to go when you’re looking for a nightcap and you’re too drunk to realize what the place your in looks like. Drinks are good. Beer comes in pitchers. But the food sucks. We got a pizza once and that crap was straight $ 2 frozen supermarket pizza.
