So I have already came by here several time before I decided to give a review. I must admit the consistency of their quality is superb. They may not be the fastest at making the banh mi the wait is well worth it. I swear you can taste the love you wifey most beautiful woman in the world in the special banh mi that they make and on the plus side you get a free small bag of chip.

Honestly! The best Bahn mi I have had in King county so far. Everything was perfect and the customer service was great. Parking: not much parking unless you get street parking. Since we came early we were lucky enough to get a parking in from of the restaurant. Location: next to marina. Kind of hard to see from the main road but definitely should be advertising a sign Customer Service: Excellent! We forgot about out chips so she brought them to us. She offered suggestions and I loved her suggestion on the Vietnamese coffee. Food: Bahn mi? No it’s da Bomb mi! Haha I love it so much I love the special. It was fresh it was mmm… perfection. I wanna go back so bad. I dream about it. Yes, I love Bahn mi. Vietnamese Coffee was perfection. It was not to sweet and just the perfect amount of coffee. 1−10…I RECOMMEND!!!

Pretty solid sammies. The baguette is nice, flaky on the outside and soft on the inside, like your mom. Tofu was nicely sauced up satisfying.

We had a flyer on the car at the marina and decided to give it a try. So glad we did. I like Banh Mi sandwich’s and these were very good. We had the grilled chicken and the Chinese BBQ pork. Both had plenty of meat and the veggies inside with it were very good. I think I also need to mention that they were served on very fresh and delicious rolls. I had a coffee that was very good. We will be back. Not sure why someone thinks small and simple are a bad thing. If you make it good, that works just fine.

I have no idea how this place is getting the ratings it is… We went in today after wanting to give our business to a new restaurant, we love supporting our local economy… First off it is a very awkward place, something just seemed off from the get go. There was a funny smell and things just seemed very unorganized, clearly this is their first time in food service. As you can see from the pictures they are using mini toaster ovens and such that you would find in your own home, not a restaurant. Seemed very odd to be using home cooking products in a professional setting. As for the food, we ordered 3 pork bahn– mi… let me tell you nothing about this sandwich was good. The pork isn’t grilled pork as we are all used to in bahn-mi, it was 3 slices of flat, white colored and very weird processed meat, topped with old veggies, a very interesting mayo and sweet teriyaki type sauce. The bread was also old and not fluffy or crispy as described by others in their Unilocal reviews, so I’m not sure what they are talking about. The bread tasted like it was a week old and nearly moldy… All I can think is that they clearly are not getting much business if the bread and veggies are getting old and they are having to serve them. We waited near the windows for our sandwiches and when they were done a woman literally ran them over to us along with a giant basket of chips that she just shoved at us, we didn’t even have time to look through the other baskets that were across the store and instead of letting us pick what kind we wanted she just picked them out of the basket and handed them to us… they weren’t busy so I’m not sure why we were being run out and forced into chips that were not ones we would choose. I paid $ 19.22 for 3 horrible sandwiches, 3 very mini bags of chips and 3 cans of soda… Sadly all we ate were the chips and soda, the sandwiches were just too weird and gross to even eat… The dog will have some sandwiches for later I guess… Also anyplace that just allows their children to run around the store and outside with no supervision needs to learn that it is a restaurant not a child care service, teach your children to act appropriately and stay inside where it is safe or take them to a babysitter or family member while you run your business… We followed the little boy who was by our car and ended up chasing him around the parking lot because we were afraid for his safety as he was outside all alone with no grown ups to watch over him, he ended up going back inside but how unprofessional and scary, that kid could have been stolen so easily… SMH… Clearly we will not be returning :(

Delicious food, milk tea, and thai tea. Very family friendly atmosphere and friendly staff. The ham sandwich was delicious and my wife enjoyed her Chinese BBQ pork sandwich. The teas had some of the best flavors that we have had in a while.

The overall feel for the place is clean and trendy. It’s hidden between condos/apts in a little lot. There’s not a huge selection of banh mi(don’t expect grilled pork) but not like a familiar Vietnamese deli. First off they had 6 to choose from(special, jambon pork roll, grilled chicken, BBQ pork, tofu, head cheese, and sardines). I typically get the«special/Dac biet» but didn’t understand what they meant by jambon, head cheese and pork roll. Luckily, it was what is usually in the«special/Dac biet» and they had pictures to show you. I also ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee. They toast your baguette and make it right on the spot. The Vietnamese coffee, as well. I thought the service was average. Price was a little high but they did offer a can of pop and a snack size bag of chips as an incentive. My meal was $ 9. Baguette was perfect – buttery, didn’t «cut the roof of my mouth» like some reviews said. A little sweet for me. I would have added soy sauce, mayo and rooster sauce but that’s just my preference. Vietnamese coffee was great! Just too strong for me! Second time I went and got grilled chicken. Not what I expected – totally Americanized. It was like chicken you buy for your salads covered in sauce. Not at all grilled chicken/grilled pork you would expect from a Vietnamese restaurant. Overall I would go again but just still to the special. They also have some sweet treats like cake and pastries in the front.

Best assembled Banh Mi Sandwich I’ve ever had. And here’s why: Baguette was fresh and had the right texture.(Most I’ve tried was too hard and too flaky). Well rounded selection of meat and fish:(My favorite was the Chinese BBQ Pork and the Sardines). Fresh and Bright vegetable toppings and the pickled Carrot and Radish gave the Banh Mi that extra kick. But what really made this Banh Mi great was the sauce they use for the sandwich. It’s a bit sweet and some light tang to it, well balanced. Other items: There Vietnamese Coffee was really good, not overly strong and had the right sweetness to it.

I’m so proud of my girl friend. Way to go! She did it again! I’m always out looking for trouble and today, was one of those. I went to check out this spanking new coffee shop located in the heart of Des Moines waterfront. I had this delicious vietnamese coffee today and don’t get any ideas and think I didn’t like it. The problem is, I liked it too much. It’s very very good coffee but really kicked our behinds to sleep deprivation. I haven’t slept in two days. This coffee is So yummy but deadly! Aside from her coffee, she also serves Boba teas with coffee flavored tapiocas. Wut??? That clearly spells out trouble because this drink is addictive. You will come back for more. Just like Debbie P. says, Banh Mi is so yummy and I cannot resist to take home some of this special number. The bread alone can be consumed by itself with a little butter. It’s light and fluffy, and will not cause me a bleeding mouth unlike other Banh Mis’ that will leave me with cuts in my mouth after biting into it. Serious! Great choices of meat: grilled pork, chicken, vegan, or «special». I know this because she provided samples of all during Grand Opening. Good amount of people showed up including our crazy group alone was overwhelming to keep up with. Anyway, ASGOODASITGETS! Great location, if you ever get lost in this area, do check it out. That’s what’s up!

What great addition to Des Moines! There aren’t many options for dining in Des Moines. You have your typical fast food joints or your more expensive restaurants. With Oceanside Banh Mi, it walks the fine line of offering something along the middle. This cute little café offers a simple, affordable and great menu! There were 8 or 9 Banh mi(Vietnamese sandwiches), pastries, flavored smoothies or milk tea with boba(tapioca balls), coconut jelly, lychee jelly, grass jelly or coffee jelly, and different coffee based drinks, like lattes, cappuccino, and a really good, strong Vietnamese coffee! We came in on Opening Day, October 31, 2015, and were greeted with a throng of trick-or-treaters. The space is inviting and clean. We had the Vietnamese coffee(which my husband loved), taro smoothy with boba, and the chicken Banh mi. All were tasty and satisfying. What I really loved about the Banh Mi is that the bread wasn’t hard, that is, it didn’t scrape the top of my mouth!!! The baguette they used was light and airy with just enough crusty goodness for a perfect Banh mi! Plus the chicken was flavorful and the pickled daikon and carrots added a nice refreshing crunch to the sandwich. And the staff were really nice! I don’t make my way to Des Moines very often, but when I do, you can be sure I’ll make a stop here every time!

Clean new restaurant with friendly staff. I had the lemongrass tofu bahn mi and it was delicious. The price is incredibly reasonable as well. There is a pastry case, espresso, and many flavors of bubble tea. I will definitely go back.

This little must-stop in Des Moines is growing! More regulars are coming in AND more stuff added on her already enticing menu for Banh Mis. They now serve«Halo-halo»(the owner’s new favorite dessert) – yes, a Filipino dessert. You gotta try this. It’s very yummy and so refreshing in the summer. Also, try their«sardines» Banh Mi(nice and light) especially for the health conscientious ones. Just saying… I visited my friend and it’s always a nice treat to spend some sweet and short quality time with my friend. Banh Mis’ are always fresh here and are so yummy. Kid not…
