Perkins Restaurant & Bakery

Very good server, prompt service and the food arrived quickly. I had a «smasher” – this one has eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, and sausage gravy over tater tots. Very generous, especially with the tots. Good to be back and have ready access to a Perkins. We’ll be back.

Perkins used to be much better. This particular location has clearly become a place where, if you’re not a regular, you’re somewhat ignored. I could see our waitress Cindy was very well liked amongst the regular patrons. But she was somewhat lax on our table. She got our drinks, but as she came over to take our order, she recognized someone next to us and chatted them up for at least five minutes. In the meantime, my wife had to go to work and we thought we’d get faster service than what we did. She managed to get to work just in time. We went from being relaxed to being in a bit of a rush. I get it. Be friendly, but please make your not so regular customers feel welcome too. Don’t ignore them. We’re regulars with Perkins, but just not at the same location all the time.

If your looking to waste an hour waiting for your food then this is the place for you. Then have a horrible experience getting your order wrong and waiting for them to fix it while waiting for your condiments to start. They fixed it but I had to coordinate the waiter about the condiments to get started. Decent food and waiter was nice about fixing it. No one has time to have a 2 hour meal on Monday.

We come to this Perkins a lot. It is the best in the Des Moines Metro area, in the Perkins world. If you come between 12:15 pm and 1 pm on a Saturday or Sunday, expect to wait. Today the service was pretty fast and the food was nice and hot. It is hard to find a good French Fry and today’s were pretty awesome. Must get the spinach and mushroom omlet with egg whites, much better! They did forget some things we requested so don’t forget to double check.

This morning 15 of us local Pastors met at this Perkins and the staff was very pleasant, timely and all orders were prepared to order, hot with no complications what so ever. Our service was so good we tipped her 40% 40.0 on the 90.00 ticket, keep up the awesome work Cindy!

This is the best place to hang out in the wee hours to see the real diversity of central Iowa. I loved coming here after concerts and wolfing down a really early breakfast.

It is your typical perkins, but can you beat any place that serves the «tremendous twelve» at 1 am in the morning.
