This is a great used shop. A few years ago they were the only thing here, but there are now several used vinyl places right there, so its a record hunter’s mini mall. The stock in here is really solid, and it almost is bursting at the seems. There are a lot of really decent affordably priced clean lps and 45s jammed in here. The RnB selection is very good as well, which gives this place a bit of an edge. There are also a few pieces of old stereo gear up front which I haven’t figured out if that is part of the stock or what. Plan on spending a bit of time here. The prices are generally really good too.

My favorite record store in Des Moines. Great prices, great stuff, helpful staff. My husband DJs and they have the best 7-inch collection around. I always find weirdo jams I dig here. I got a Robyn Hitchcock record here this time and a Residents LP. More than the records, this place really has the record store«feel» to it. We love it here. Check it out!

Red Rooster is an awesome little record store that knows what to stock, but also knows what to price the records. No fooling this guy on that copy of Jame Brown at the Apollo… He know’s what it’s worth. But with that comes a knowledge of whats great to stock and he always have killer new records coming in. He will also cut you a deal if you are going to purchase 4 – 5 records at a time. Red Rooster does not really stock new releases or local stuff, so if your looking for the new Arcade Fire LP this is not your stop, but if your looking for that rare Zappa record to fill up your collection this might be your best stop in town.
