went there yesterday. the place was empty at 12:30 — that should have told us something! when we went there 6 years ago the place was hopping, had to wait to get a table. we ordered tongue and carnita tacos — the meat must have been reheated cuz it was like eating jerky. hubby brought ½ of the torta home but then decided to toss it. then we stopped at Taco Mariana’s — had tongue tacos — the meat was tender, she chopped it and cooked it when we got there — moist.

I live less than a block from this place and it took me nearly a year to work up the courage to try it. It’s pretty sketchy from the outside and it sits on the edge of the closest thing DM has to a ghetto. I wish I could tell you that the inside is better, but it’s really not. I’m a firm believer in the notion that the greasiest little joints usually serve the best food, but there is a cleanliness line and this place crossed it — for me anyway. It’s just dumpy and the kitchen is cluttered and browning. I ordered two steak tacos that came with a very spicy cilantro and onion pico on top. The quality of meat was higher than one would expect and it was grilled to order. Tortillas were good, and as I mentioned the onion/cilantro topping was excellent and fresh. The food was really pretty good, and in fact as I’m typing this I have the urge to go back and try it a second time. Each table in the place has two dishes of sauce that sit open on the table(presumably all day). I forced myself to try the red sauce, and it was really good and spicier than I would expect most people would like, but I loved it. Psychologically though, it’s so difficult for me to feel comfortable dipping sauce out of dish that has been on the table all day w/no lid. This is some of the cheapest food I’ve ever had and really is a good value.(I think it was around $ 2 and a quarter for each taco). The food here is a 4 but cleanliness brings TA down to 3 stars. I haven’t been able to convince myself to go back because of it, but maybe a return trip with a new-found constitution is necessary. I would still encourage anyone and everyone to try this place as there are undoubtedly some who won’t be as turned off by the appearance and«rustic» nature of Tacos Andreas.

So… this place is a tiny little hole in the wall in the Drake area. It looks sort of sketchy from the outside. It’s one of those places that I probably wouldn’t have gone to unless a friend hadn’t taken me there because you can hardly tell it’s a restaurant on the outside. It’s small on the insdie– like 6 tables maybe? But it’s definitely a well-kept secret! I’ve been there a couple times now and the food has always been delicious. It’s dirt cheap and very authentic tasting. It’s the only Mexican restaurent in the area that I know of that serves pupusas, so that’s a thumbs way up for me! The food is definitely authentic tasting. Not authentic in a bad«I might need the bathroom soon» way, but it’s definitely a step up from your genetic«La Hacienda, El Patio» type of Mexican food. If you’re looking for a cheap, unique place to stop in for a quick dinner, then try it out. 5⁄5 Unilocalz.

Great place. A bit intimidating from the outside but inside… Buena taqueria. Cabeza can’t be beat. Plus Marianas is usually out.

Moved here from Arizona so I know my Mexican. Loved this place! Great tacos as mentioned but seriously great chorizo that they make in house. My son loved the bean dip and all the different salsas… just make sure you ask or you’ll only get their very mild sauce. My entrée was the Chori-pollo which is essentially chicken and chorizo smothered in a cheese sauce. I was the perfect indulgence and my last meal out before my diet. So glad we stumbled on this place due to Tasty Tacos being closed on Sunday.

I couldn’t find much info online about Tacos Andreas so we were hoping they would be open despite the snowy day. Turns out Tacos Andreas is open 7 days a week! I ordered the asada, pastor, cabeza and chorizo tacos. Most taco trucks don’t have chorizo tacos so I was happy Tacos Andreas offered them. Each taco is $ 1.50. The tacos were filled with a good amount of meat and the meats were very flavorful. I also ordered two pupusas. The pupusas are filled with meat, cheese and beans. Each pupusa is $ 2.00. The restaurant is small but has about four tables of four and a few counter style seating. They offer eat in and carry out orders. One thing i was missing from Tacos Andreas was the cabbage salad that usually comes with pupusas. I’m not sure if they offer it here but I know they didn’t give me any salad that I usually get from other places. Overall, I’d give this place 4.5 stars but I’m rounding up to five stars because I want this place to do well especially since its a small local business.

I love this place. These are real tacos, not Taco Bell. I had tacos asada which came with a lime wedge and salsa verde. Very good. This was like comfort food to me. Great flavor, nice people, great neighborhood in Drake, and reasonably priced. One taco is only $ 1.50. This is a great place to go for lunch, out with friends, or on a 3rd date. I can’t wait to go back! This is definitely a treasure in this neighborhood.
