Not sure what has happened here. We used to eat at Tasty Taco’s all the time. The flour tacos are a cesspool of grease and bland flavor. And the help on this particular day did not look clean at all. Which has never been a problem before. I’m not trying to down anyone but when you see that making your food it bothers you. I will maybe try other locations but this was a disappointment.

Americanized greasy«Mexican» food. That is what this is. I grew up poor in Des Moines and a treat we always used to do was Tasty Tacos. Well it’s not as great when you’re an adult in my opinion. Rather bland, just greasy food, that leaves you wanting some real authentic tacos(assuming you’ve ever had them). You get 2 stars just for the good memories of eating choco tacos as a child.

Not good. What they serve are not tacos. Corn taco means a fried crunchy shell. When I think of taco I think two small corn tortillas with meat, onions, and cilantro with some different salsa to spread on top. I don’t think cilantro has ever been in that building. The one salsa they had was no good but there was mustard. Wait we don’t put mustard on tacos. The tacos are not tasty. Taco Bell is five stars when compared to this here place. The cheese they used… maybe the worst aspect of the whole place. Very wonderful staff though. I have now been told that one should never get Mexican food in the Mid-West because they have no idea what it is and just make it up as they see fit. Oh, and also fry everything… twice.

Don’t really know how this place got 4 stars? Maybe they don’t know better up here? No corn tortillas, no horchata, no Mexican soda, no salsa bar? Oh but American cheese on everything? Unfriendly cashier girl in the place that has the air condition cranked so high that she wears a sweater. My taco shells of the pork tacos were fried? WTF? The burrito was as big as a flauta! Only plastic silver wear ! Seriously Taco Bell is better and has salsa choices

I ordered a chicken enchilada, friend that came with me ordered a flour tortilla taco. Flour tortilla was thick! Guacamole and sour cream were«extra.» Came here because it’s a local chain and people raved about it. Was a bit disappointed. Food was no better than the«national chains,» I expected better. No room to park the RV. I came here with a friend who drove.

Can’t go anywhere without seeing a Tasty Tacos somewhere or advertisements for it. I was first introduced to Tasty Tacos when I came to Des Moines a few years back and now am a regular customer. Their tacos taste different from anywhere else I’ve been in my life, they taste REAL. Their flour tacos and nachos are the staple items, must try! Their décor is order at the counter from an old school looking menu, which is interesting. The whole feel with the restaurant is like a family run place. They have expanded so much I think they are available to everyone in the area. One thing I learned is that their burritos are very small… order a lot if you plan to get full. Their sides are tasty as well. Staff is friendly, but you won’t really interact with them. This place is just as good as the others!

Im not sure what all the hype was about. It is a unique taco that is for sure but not something I think I would go back for. They did a fried flour tortilla that kind of interesting but other than that I didn’t get it. It was sub par mexican food in a dingy spot.

So my family in Des Moines found it a bit funny that Tasty Taco’s was on the top things to do/try when in Des Moines… so we went there to experience the goodness… and the goodness we did eat. Yep, Tasty Taco’s is all it’s cracked up to be. Give it a try.

I grew up in Des Moines and somehow managed to move away before ever eating here. I finally went there on a visit home and now can’t imagine a trip to Des Moines without eating at Tasty Tacos! It’s a fantastic, greasy, delicious indulgence. I lived in Arizona for a while and have spent some time in Mexico and I wouldn’t say this is very authentic Mexican food but it’s for gringos and it is good!

I must admit: I’ve not been to a Tasty Tacos that I didn’t like.* This one is much like the others — mom-and-pop feel with spectacularly good steak tacos and nachos with cheese. The real draw for me is, and will forever remain, the sauce. Spicy, flavorful, and always worth taking home for later. * This one happens to be the first Tasty Tacos I ever went to.
