Small and friendly Vietnamese restaurant. I’m a sucker for a curry dish and their chicken curry did not disappoint. Salmon clay pot was highly recommended and their eggrolls were fresh and crispy. Delightful.

Very rude staff named Long who yelled at me to «pay for my food» when they discovered that their inexperienced cashier made a mistake. Confused after having been waiting 30 minutes for a few sandwiches, I was more than happy to make the correct payment and leave. I did not understand why I was yelled at and insulted especially since I did not dispute the mistake in anyway or show reluctance to pay more. We are talking about a few sandwiches here, not exactly a huge sum. They did not even apologize for making the mistake! Strange to be so uncivilized over a small and easily corrected error

We love this place! We have tried a lot of different dishes but love the Phở soup with beef.

Love the phở, curry, spring rolls, and BOLUCLAC. The owners are friendly. Hope they renovate/remodel the restaurant and rest rooms and then they would be 5 stars!

I’ve been coming here since 2010. great food and service. Long(Brian) is an awesome waiter friendly and attentive. Youn can park in back of building or in front on Miner St. Very nice atmosphere I always order the same thing Chicken with Basil & Ceilantro spring rolls and of course their Phở. you can’t go wrong with this place and it’s also BYOB.

I love their Phở. They do a GREAT job. LOVED it! :) Their curry portions… hmmmm were kinda small. It was misleading in that in the top of the menu it said that fried rice is included in all dinner menus(or something) but then when the curry came out it was with white rice, and they said fried rice is not included with Curry. Sad. But, still a great little gem in Des Plaines.

Busy when I walked in at 1:30 but there were many dirty tables. Ordered to go with a tea and didn’t get served the tea while I waited 30 minutes for Spring Rolls. Service was questionable at best. I will never come back.

It’s been like 5 weeks since I went to this restaurant, so I’ll say my review will be more objective than if I had written it immediately after going to dung gia. I stopped by for a quick lunch one day and order the salmon clay pot, and shrimp fried rice. While the rice wasn’t greasy for $ 8⁄9 the amount of rice was laughable, not to mention the 5 total shrimp I got. Flavor waa decent at best. The clay pot salmon I ordered was terrible. The fish had a stinky smell to it, and it didn’t taste fresh at all. It was so hard and overcooked I wanted to send it back. Actually the salmon reminded me of the frozen individually wrapped salmon I buy from Costco. They probably quickly thawed it out and made my dish. Portions are so small here. There aren’t many vietnamese restaurants in the area so I guess if you’re desperate for some vietnamese food this will have to do. Place was overpriced for the quality and quantity I received. Definitely do not recommend!

Best phở broth I’ve had in a while. Service is good and food came out pretty fast. So far love it :)

I’ve been here several times and pretty much order the same thing all the time. The phở special and chicken wings. It’s my cold and hangover remedy ;) The phở broth is clean and not greasy like other phở I’ve had. A little more meat would be great though. The chicken wings are tasty and full of flavor. I wonder why they don’t serve the drum part though :) Sure there is better phở down by Argyle but this is a great alternative if you don’t want to drive so far. I have to mention that the owner/chef is really nice as well. I’ll be back to try other items off the menu.

Imagine the best bowl of noodle soup you’ve ever had. Now forget it and replace it with Dung Gia’s recipe. Do yourself a favor and go out of your way to eat at this family run traditional restaurant.

I am so happy I found my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I started ordering food from their location in Skokie, then they moved to Evanston, and then they disappeared. I read a review that mentioned that they were once known as Anaheim express. What a treat to find excellent food with service by friendly happy individuals. This evening I special ordered my favorite Vietnamese style crab. It was a ton of work to get the crab meat out but I was so grateful to enjoy the succulent flavors of antic Vietnamese delicacies. We also split an appetizer of crispy quail. Friends enjoyed their appetizer platter and their soup is filled with all the flavors of Asia. Special orders are required for the crab but you’ll find reasonable prices on their dinner bowls.

I thoroughly enjoy being able to sit in one of the last«vintage» buildings still left in Des Plaines. Notice the ceiling tiles! Food & prep was top flight, just wish portions were a little bigger at that price.(woulda been nice to share back home later) Came with my supper club, we each had & shared an appetizer. Each had one entrée. 10 out of 10 possible points for flavors, textures &HEAT!(not enuff to consider taking any home).

One of the only couple vietnamese restaurants in the area. We came on Sunday noon, easy to find, easy to park. Great selections of items but sadly they were not very authentic. The phở was just a ok. Fried egg roll is alright. I ordered the chicken with rice plate, chicken was way too dry and the sauce that accompany the dish was way too sweet.

So I read all the Unilocal reviews, checked all the tips, and looked at all the photos on this place. An hour later, my Phở finally arrived. In fact, the 13 year old waiter brought our check before he brought our soup and looked at our empty table puzzlingly. Suffice it say, the service was atrocious. On the other hand, I would rate the food a shake below mediocre. This my was first Phở experience and I wasn’t too impressed. I may have had better soups from a can. My girlfriend is closer to an expert than I, and assured me that there’s better stuff out there. This place was just too close to home not to try. My advice would be not make a significant trip with any kind of expectation.

I ordered Bouillabaisse Soup. It is a bit pricey but you can recognize that is very tasty and has good seafood broth yet it is not rich. It is perfect for the dish for something you want to have a light dish! I will come back again!

I went to this place 3 times. The 2 times I went was good and the 1 time i went was bad. The 1 time that I went .I think they changed owners? The service was pretty bad and they gave LEMONS with our PHO. The fuck? We asked for limes and they said they didnt have any. it like asking for ketchup and saying here we got BBQ sauce. Its different and not okay

Excellent phở and many other good appetizers. Recommend the phở ga and phở tai. Appetizers can be wonderfully spicy and not Americanized. It’s BYOB and note they are closed on Mondays. They menu is vast so you should find something to meet each palate. Service is friendly and the restaurant is quaint(I enjoy the mismatching plates and silverware). Enjoy.

I’m pretty sure they hate us here… we usually come in with a group after church on Sunday. And you can tell by the look on their faces that they dread it. If you’re OK with«whatever» service and occasional dirty looks, then it’s still a good place to go to get your phở fix when you’re in the area. The phở broth could be a little more flavorful, but maybe they have to water it down when we come in groups like that? I don’t know. Other than that, I’m fine with adding my Sriracha and Hoisin sauces to add a little more flavor. The portions are pretty small, considering I can finish a whole bowl on my own. I usually can only finishing a little more than half my bowl of phở at other places(I’m pretty petite and can only eat so much in one sitting), so if you’ve got a large appetite and you’re hungry, maybe you might consider ordering two dishes?
