Hole in the wall, tasty, local joint. Footlong polish Chicago style — LOVE the bun. Holds up to all the fixin’s. Often our go to place on our way home after flying into O’Hare — the owners are friendly and fries are hot.

Went there for the 1st time. I ordered the Italian Beef and I gotta say it was pretty good. Is a regular fast food joint place but again it has is own character. I like it n I will b back. Classic Joint

I’m rating this place for what it is. .a small, greasy spoon place doing what it does well. I ordered a cheeseburger with hot peppers added. That was a juicy ass burger! I like steak fries so they are good for me after adding salt and pepper. Would I rate this on the same standards as a high end restaurant.no. .of course not. Very friendly service. .not modern. .but clean. I’ll be back.

Best D@MN hot dog that I have found in DesPlaines … so far. And yes, better than that place on River Rd that has a line several deep out their door. I can walk to there … I DRIVE to here. And come on they have smelt too. How many hot dog places can boast about that. A very nice mom and pop shop. I’m not a big fan of their fries, but I’m not a fan of steak fries from anywhere, make them into cheese fries and they’re ok. Bratwurst and Polish Sausages are excellent as well. I wish they were open on Sundays.

A crummy hole in the wall with bad food and no heat. They had three personal heaters but it was still freezing and meal got cold half way through it. They hardly give you any fries with the meal A typical cheap Greek-owned joint.

Food is good enough but the cook has this attitude that he’s the greatest. He can barely multi-task and he’ll purposely ignore you until he feels good and ready to take your order. It must be fun there during a busy time when he prepares one meal at a time. Then he has to ask three times what you want on your food. Hey buddy, you ain’t all that sharp!

5 stars! Service is good. Food is made fresh pretty much in front of you. This place is been here since I was a little kid. Great people most definitely. A gold mine in des plaines

This is a small mom and pop place — we were in the area – and stopped in for hot dogs… First of all, the place could be cleaner! It could be a bit cheaper. And, what kind of hot dogs are they serving? Could use a major remodel. I doubt returning.

This place is definitely a dive but it’s good food and the people here are very friendly. They have a TON of choices — something for everyone: salads, sandwiches, whole dinners like Mostaccioli, gyros plate, etc… the cons are that it’s not pretty to look at(inside or outside) and for some reason it’s not open on Sundays which I think is a shame but other than that, if you have a bunch of people that don’t know what they want, go here. They have good food and lots of it.

This place reminds me of many of the old-time Chicago family-owned places where a customer was a guest and the food was consistently good and fairly priced. I have tried their subs, gyros, and other meals and never been disappointed.

I went for lunch here while my car was being repaired down the street. The entire store is dirty. The food all tasted like old frying oil. 2 stars for the older man at the counter who was very friendly.

Friendly staff and ohhh man do they have yummy breakfast food! I come by ever so often when I don’t feel like making my own breakfast and never leave disappointed.

Ventured in and tried the Coney Island Dog and went back the following day. That’s one good pooch! The sauce is boss. Tasty stuff. The steak fries were perfect: hot, crisp, golden brown, not greasy and lightly salted. Staff behind the counter is very friendly and treats their customers well. The cookies and brownies for dessert were pretty good too. My only regret is that I didn’t try this place sooner.

Ate their dogs for years but finally tried the beef and it’s one of the best in the area. Nice folks. During busy times(sunny summer noon times) service can be a little slow but worth it. They have celery salt if you’re a true Chicago dog fan like me. The jalapeño poppers are real good too. Skip the Wendy McD King up and down the street and get some real food from some real neighborhood people.

I wanted to review the place again. I absolutely love this place! There are a huge variety of food with many options for combinations. For example, you can order a hot dog, chili dog, garden salad, gyros, french fries, burgers. The place is very popular with locals, so it’s best to take the food and go. However, they have small and decent seating inside the place if you want to eat inside. There are 3 people who work there — and they are all very warm and friendly. It doesn’t have an outdoors seating area, but it is right next to Burger King, which has a small picnic table outside It is at the corner of Lee and Van Buren, so it is easy to get in and get out of the parking lot. Plenty of spaces to park!

Greasy and lack of flavor. There are plenty of places around the area to get better food. It’s a dive so I first thought it would have good grub but boy was I wrong! The fries are so greasy like most things here. I don’t know how this seems logical but a polish I ordered came with cucumbers and lettuce??? Why??? Service is slow and seems confused, every question I got seemed like I stepped into a strange town in the southwest. I haven’t tried breakfast here and it sounded good but now I just won’t push my luck.

Picked up a hot dog with fries and a cola last week — $ 5.25 for the combo so prices are OK. Hot dog was visible, though buried deep in condiments(the mustard was a little heavy for me). I’m not a steak fries fan when it comes to hot dogs and burgers, but the ones served here were pretty good. Service was pretty good and friendly, though given the size of the order and wait area, I could see where it would be a challenge if the place was busy. I always expect a little bit of «atmosphere» in an aging hot dog place, but this place is starting to show a little too much of that. Before things get out of hand, it could use a good deep cleaning on one of the Sundays that they’re closed. I’d go there again if in the area — but wouldn’t go out of my way to do so. Maybe try a gyro next time.

Local des plaines spot been there forever. Breakfast are cheap and plentiful. Patty melts are the best. Charcoal delights sucks!

A smally dumpy diner with friendly people serving of decent food. If you’re nearby and hungry and don’t mind noshing on some food with grease, I’d recommend stopping at Mr. Pup. I ordered a Polish sausage with everything + extra grilled onions. ‘Everything’ included tomato, cucumber, pickle, relish, mustard, onion, grilled onion, celery salt, and hot peppers. Mmmm… sausage was cooked well with a bit of char on the edge, loads of juice inside and the toppings were plentiful. I asked for extra grilled onions, and that is exactly what a got. The PILE of grilled onions on my sausage added to the greasiness of the meal, but that is what I expected. I also recommend the onion rings which are battered, not breaded. Mr. Pup’s friendly, fast service combined with low prices and decent food make it an overall good value for a quick greasy lunch.

We originally planned to go to Pronto Pup, but didn’t feel like waiting 45min in line and set off to find a good substitute. This is what we found. Typical burger, fries and dog place. I ordered the chili cheese dog and felt it was decent, but nothing to rave about. Nothing to steer me away from it either. I’d rather be indifferent than have a strong negative opinion. The hot dog was average. Not tasteless, but neither flavorful. Chili was the same. Cheese was just slightly better than some of the sauce places give you with no flavor. I’d come back.
