Drove two hours to this place. They were supposed to be open according to their web site. The gates were locked so I called the number on the sign that’s on the property. The number is disconnected. It is the same number that is on the web site. Apparently this nursery is closed. Completely disappointed

What a beautiful nursery. I mean wow. You can tell the love and commitment. My husband and I went in yesterday and just went from one wow to the next. We met the owner who was so kind. We are going back this week to pick up a number of things. Not only is the selection huge and everything looking so healthy but the prices are fair. It’s the best spot in the desert!

The plants are beautiful, priced nominally and the knowledgeable gentleman who helped us was so pleasant. Definitely a place to revisit.

We are staying in the desert for the weekend and I wanted to purchase succulents while out. I found Mariscal’s on Unilocal and it’s a succulent lovers paradise! Everything is priced fairly and they have a really nice selection to choose from. The gentleman that was working was really helpful and answered my questions. I can’t wait to come back!

In Sunset Magazine we read about Mariscal Cactus in Desert Hot Springs and planned a visit. We called ahead for hours etc. When we got there we found only 1 person on duty who didn’t speak much English and absolutely nothing marked with prices. A call to the out-of-town boss confirmed a price and we put something on hold. When we returned to pick it up(and pay) we found out they didn’t take credit cards and could not make change for cash. It was 3PM and since we had an hour until closing thought we could hit an ATM and somehow get exact change. Then they told us they were closing early. We managed to scrape together what was needed for a single item but could not purchase anything else. Their loss! Mariscal does indeed have a great selection of cactus, and fair prices too. But as a business it seemed poorly run and certainly not ready for the crowds Sunset Magazine is sending its way.

Mariscal Cactus and Succulents is an absolutely beautiful addition to the desert. The very large, well priced garden utopia opened in September and is run under the expertise of Francisco Mariscal. I recently visited with two of my students so that we could start a desert plant garden at school. Francisco was kind, helpful and unbelievably knowledgeable(not to mention extremely generous). We told him what our growing conditions were and he took us through the gigantic garden center and hand picked the perfect plants for us. If you are in the market for cactus and succulents for your home or business you simply must visit Mariscals. They have a gigantic selection of well-tended, lovely plants and their prices are a fraction of what you would pay at Lowes or Home Depot. I highly encourage anyone who wants to see the largest selection of cactus or succulents in the valley to make their way out to see Francisco. From Palm Springs: Take Gene Autry to Dillon and make a left and it’s a short distance to your left. You’ll be glad you did.

We watched in the last year as Haro Nursery seemed tired and unable to keep things growing. Francisco Mariscal is an inspiration to anyone watching the start of a new business. He has breathed life into this place by growing and growing and growing. What a selection of cactus plants and succulents to choose from. And his prices are low. Francisco was running a nursery in Fallbrook, but like us, he appreciated this location for its beauty and commercial location. Highly recommended.
