Given the management attitude and lack of concern for the guest experience, I recommend avoiding this grille. The restaurant’s atmosphere was ruined by a high-pitched squealing noise coming from the air vents. When the staff hit the vent hard, the noise would stop for 30 seconds. It would then resume and disrupt my concentration and ability to think about anything else. Several guests complained, a few changed tables, and many left before getting a meal. When I asked to speak to the manager, she explained the noise was not their problem, she asked why I didn’t request another table, and told me there was nothing she could do about the situation.

Went to Valentine’s Day Sunday brunch after spending the night at the hotel. Upon arrival, we stood at the host stand for at least 4 minutes before we were greeted by a hostess. She informed that they only had bar seting available which was not a problem for us. The bartenders were not very attentive, it was a few minutes before we were finally greeted and sent to the buffet to load up on food and were promised our settings and drinks would be waiting for us when we returned. When we returned, people were hovering over our seats trying to get the bartenders attention. Had our settings or drink been set out, people would have known that those seats were taken and would not have been hovering. We sat there for a few minutes waiting to get one of the bartenders attention to get some silverware and drinks to begin our meal. The meal wasnt very good. Soggy catfish, no tatar sauce to be found, dried out pastries, limp bacon, cold sausage and rock hard biscuits. Certainly not worth the $ 28 per person, I got my fill of bottomless mimosas to make myself feel better about the money spent! While I was drinking people watching, I saw a man, whom I assumed to be the owner maybe, pick up a linen napkin from the floor and proceeded to wipe the top of the bar with it. That was enough for me! I left disgusted with absolutely no plan to return, EVER!

Seems like this place is hit or miss depending on when you come and what you’re looking for. We stopped in on Saturday for an appetizer and a couple drinks before heading out for the night. The place was kind of empty, but the bar was nearly full. We grabbed the last two seats at the bar and were greeted promptly. There were two bartenders working the bar. Both were quick and personable. We ordered the steak flatbread. The two seats next to us opened up and two guys sat down. They showed up about 5 minutes after us, but their food came out well before ours. I honestly wouldn’t even have noticed had the bartender not said anything. He was super apologetic about it… apologizing multiple times for the wait and he offered us a shot for the inconvenience. The flatbread was excellent. A perfect amount of food to kick off the evening as we were starving. My fiancée kept raving about how good it was. I would definitely order it again. All in all, this place served our purpose for the evening and I don’t have any complaints. I’d like to come back and give it a shot for a full meal.

We just visited this bar for an after dinner drink before heading up to our room. The bartender seemed reluctant to serve us at all. We sat there with our one drink for an hour without anyone asking us how our drink was or if we needed anything else. We had been eying the menu the whole time with the intention of ordering some shots or a dessert. Definitely a disappointment considering the status of the hotel. We had hoped for friendly service and an inviting atmosphere but we felt like we were bothering the staff. Unfortunately I don’t think we will visit this restaurant or stay at the Westin Book Cadillac again. And it’s Valentine’s Day…

Came here once before and did not enjoy the service. This time the buffet was very scavenged through and dried out. The service was not good either. We were border line being ignored. When the bill came it was evident why the servers were not working for the tip. The bill included a 20% gratuity charge already so no matter what they do they still get paid.

They had valet restricted to hotel guests only, so we had to park in the deck and walk over in the rain. Plus the restaurant only validates valet not the deck even though the hotel owns it. We got appetizers served but no plates. The salads were completely substandard for a regular restaurant more less a fine dining one. The waiter was absent most of the time, failing to refill beverages, but they tacked on an automatic 20% gratuity. We received 3 out of 6 entrees cold, by the time we got them reserved everyone else was completely done eating. In the meantime they did not bring us plates to eat our shared sides of mac and cheese and brussel sprouts. When one of the entrees was reserved it was cold still. We ordered some simple sliders as a replacement instead. When we got the bill they overcharged us for items we never ordered or got plus they charged us for all they problem meals including the one sent back twice, didn’t eat, and replaced. Topper, they charged us for the replacement sliders after a full 45 minutes of elapsed time waiting for the fix. Obviously I wasn’t going to pay for that and had to speak with them to remove the appropriate items. Sad for a restaurant at such a nice hotel. Completely ruined a nice evening out with our mothers following a matinée show at the Opera House.

24 Grille restaurant downstairs in the Detroit Westin Book Cadillac is not attentive to customers. On 12/26/2015, at 3:45PM, was seated promptly by the hostess. Station attendant brought a menu, water and had the bartender bring me a beer. Sat there for 21 minutes waiting for a server to come take my order. The station attendant apologized. I previously waved my hands, waved the menu and tried to get the attention of the restaurant staff that was congregated at the bar area. After watching and listening an additional 7 minutes of the laughter and talking without being helped, I decided to leave. I asked for the bill to pay for a beer. The bill never came. As I walked over to the hostess station to ask if I could pay the bill, I heard one of the waiters ask her peers if I was going to pay for my beer. Well, of course I was going to pay for my beer. The staff didn’t show concern for me when I sat there, but became very concerned when I was walking out. The bill appeared, I paid in full and left. I recommend staying at the Westin Book Cadillac, but stay away from the 24 Grill located on the 1st floor. There are too many other places to eat in the vicinity that will gladly take your order as a paying customer. The reason I was given for not being attended to was a «Shift Change.»(Not likely, others around me were being assisted).

Nothing to write home about. I’ve been here only a couple times. It’s a little overpriced given that the service isn’t exceptional and that there isn’t enough champagne in their mimosas. I know, I know, I’m sounding like a lush, but I promise I’m not, lol. I’m Asian, so the tiniest bit of alcohol gets me feeling warm and turning red. I had three glasses and wasn’t feeling a thing. I’ll be forgiving and chalk it up to just eating too much and not drinking enough ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Although the service wasn’t exceptional, the people that work there are nice people, and the food is good. Would I come back? Sure, but only once in awhile.

The star is for the waiter who worked hard for the added 20% gratuity on the bill. Went for the brunch. The food was unimaginative, boring and near tasteless. The supposed unlimited«mimosa» was premade and room temp. Mostly poor quality orange juice. The Westin should be ashamed to be associated with this place.

This review is about the brunch. DONOT come here for brunch. The wait staff were very friendly, but didn’t do a god job of explaining the options of the buffet. Oh yeah, it’s a buffet and really not good. It was $ 40/person which is ridiculous given the quality of the food. The most redeeming part was the red velvet waffles, however we didn’t know about it until we were almost done with our food. Bottomless mimosas were good and cheap. We only came here because there was no wait and we were on a tight schedule. We should have waited at Dime Store. Would have been worth the 45 min wait, but since we were on schedule we didn’t want to risk it.

The only thing worse than the food was the service. The first bartender was too busy talking to people that worked there to talk to customers. She couldn’t remember more than one thing at a time when she would bless you with a few seconds of her time. The second bar tender was better but had to interest in refilling a drink. Had to ask for a receipt, very odd at a hotel/business bar. Several of the menu items were not available because they are changing the menu. Over priced and under delivered but where else do you go on a bad weather night when staying at the Westin? Next time pizza in the room from somewhere.

I normally don’t leave reviews but felt this one was necessary. My boyfriend and I stopped at 24 grille about a month or two ago before we went out on night and It was a horrible experience. We got there at 10:15, kitchen to close at 11. So 45 minutes should of been more then enough time for us to sit at the bar and order dinner and have a drink! We sat at the bar, waited 5 minutes before being acknowledged even though we tried to get several workers attention, someone finally came up to us to tell us so and so would be right with us. 5 more minutes went buy before someone came back over only for us to ask for a water and menus so we could hurry up and order. 5 more minutes go buy before a menu and water are brought to us! We finally order a drink and food at the same time. We both ordered filets and a side of «maple glazed carrots» and«balsamic grilled asparagus», our drinks come about 10 minutes later then the food comes… in a bag… in to go boxes. Uhmmmmm?! I told our ride bartender that we did not order this to go and his response was«oh I thought you did plus we are closing soon». I said no we would like to eat here, he brought us plates and said their was silverware in the bag. Who wants to eat a filet with a plastic fork? Anyways we open our boxes to put on our plate and my «maple glazed carrots» are actually just raw baby carrots in a box. My «balsamic grilled asparagus» was not grilled and completely Bland. From where we were sitting we could see the kitchen and everyone was just staring at us the whole time. The kitchen staff clearly wanted to get out of there but if we had been helped when we first got there they wouldn’t have gotten our food order the last minute. Completely unacceptable for a $ 150 bill. I could go on and on about the rudeness we received from the employees. Don’t go in there after 9:30!

After we looked at the menus from all the restaurants for Detroit Restaurant Week(Fall 2015), we settled on 24grille. Nobody in our group had been there — which is the point of DRW — and we had heard good things. The appetizer round full of salads looked good, but their entrée menu was impressive beyond any of the competitors. It was settled. We arrived a bit early and grabbed a drink at the bar. We were seated promptly at the time of our reservation even though there was a wait and the restaurant was busy — although this sounds like a given, we have had bad luck at other hot spots in Detroit. Kudos to the host staff and management on that point. The waiter, Eric, was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu — we all felt confident with his recommendations. He took our food orders and we were excited. From here, things started to go downhill. Our ice waters took about 20 minutes to arrive, after several reminders — the busser seemed to have a «don’t care» attitude. My table had a *severe* wobble, to the point that our beverages were spilling. I asked the hostess, our waiter, and the busser for help, several times, and it was well into our meal before someone showed up with a stopper and fixed it with about ten seconds of skillful work. Our table was frustrated. The food arrived — the chef at 24grille is on point. Our salads were unique and tasty. I’ve ordered wedge salads at other places and been devastated by a nasty inedible block of iceberg — this was the definition of how wedge should be done. Solid and crunchy, but balanced with veggies and bursting with an assortment of flavors. My companions with the kale and Caesar salads were similarly impressed. Double kudos for offering anchovies on the Caesar salad, and they were most definitely worth the small upcharge. By the time appetizers were done, the table had finished the beverages we ordered at the bar. We ordered another round, which took a long time to show up. My only complaint at this stage was that our server didn’t really know the beer menu… he seemed to have a bunch of hand-written notes about what was on draft and didn’t know where the beers were from or what style they were. No biggie — it can be tough to keep track of that. The entrees arrived and they were as impressive as the appetizers. My Gouda, Veal, and Bacon meat loaf was impressive. I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned mashed potatoes as a stand-out item in a restaurant meal before, but these were creamy and flavorful and not too salty. The asparagus was fresh and crisp. I loved it. The bites I stole from my friends’ dishes were impressive, although all of the steaks were done one level higher than ordered. But our table was out of water. Since some ordered the steak with a somewhat salty sauce(not in a bad way), we were thirsty. Whoever was supposed to fill our waters was nowhere to be seen. Eric realized the oversight and was literally speed walking around the restaurant to make it right. We finished our entrees and the table was cleared. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. The three tables around us, who had finished their entrees after us, all had their desserts and finished them. Ours were inexplicably delayed. Again, I don’t really blame our waiter — he was rushing and seemed to have way too many tables, and he never acted stressed or upset when he came to our table — he was always pleasant, slightly apologetic when necessary, and overall made our experience better. But the wait between courses was really unprofessional. The desserts were once again great. I preferred my bread pudding to the cheesecake that my friends ordered, but neither dessert was a slouch. Portions for the whole meal were perfect without being obnoxiously gluttonous. After a successful dessert round comes another strikeout. Our dessert plates were cleared for roughly 15 minutes before our waiter came to offer a bill. After we got the bills and laid out our credit cards, it was a long time before he returned to take them up. I understand that the restaurant was busy — every table was full. It’s Detroit Restaurant Week. But this shouldn’t have been a surprise. Any manager who sees a restaurant fully booked a few days before the weekend starts should adjust staffing accordingly. I don’t think anyone here was slacking off(maybe the busser) — but I think they were understaffed. This isn’t the fault of the staff; it’s a failure of management. I like the food. I want to go back. But I won’t cut slack just because we went during DRW. We already sacrificed a full menu for an event menu specifically so the kitchen can handle the extra traffic. The service should be able to adjust accordingly as well. I want to convince myself that I’ll update this review with another star or two.

Ate dinner and had drinks at the bar on a Tuesday night. Had great service with two very personable bartenders. Excellent appetizers on the steak bites and wings. I especially liked how it felt like we were part of a local crowd because the staff included us in the regular ‘bar banter’ amongst the ‘regulars’. Keep up the good work!

This restaurant was clutch during movement. Winners of the weekend were the Cobb salad, the burger, and the steak bites. The Food tasted great but the price didn’t feel right. But since time was a factor and we stayed in the Westin this place worked out. Just be ready to pay cause the Burger alone was $ 20. :)

Upon hearing rave reviews of 24grille, I decided to take my family there for brunch on Father’s Day. After speaking with the hostess, I was informed that Sunday Brunch ran from 10 – 3, so I decided to make reservations for 6 at 1:00 p. m; this would allow us time to leisurely travel from church service. Upon arrival at 1:00, the host appeared confused and did not know how to work the computer system. After he received help, it took us and another party who made reservations, 10 – 15 minutes to be seated. This was aggravating considering I had an antsy 3 year old. After being seated, we sat aimlessly for 10 minutes, waiting for a staff member to approach us. When one never approached the table, I tracked down the host, who immediately sent someone over. As I stated earlier, the hours of the brunch was 10 – 3, so I was a bit irritated when we arrived to the buffet area and they were completely out of a few key components of the brunch, i.e., fish, fruit, desserts, grits, biscuits(only burnt ones were displayed). I was told that they were busier than normal… duh, it’s Father’s Day. Although they were out of the items my dad was most looking forward to eating, I will honestly say that the food I had was extremely flavorful and well cooked. The red velvet waffles were good, the french toast, and the pasta options were divine. I gave 24grille a 3⁄5 rating considering the inattentive service, lack of organization and planning, and poor lighting in the brunch area. The food that was served and the brightly lit dining area were the saving grace in this review. Would I go back, yes, I will give them another try to see if it was just a 1x hiccup, or if the restaurant is poorly managed.

We stayed at the Westin that this restaurant is part of. 24grille was highly recommended by a few of our friends, so we decided to give it a shot for lunch, but my food was just ok. I ordered the salmon sandwich, which was nicely seared but wasn’t anything too interesting. When the waiter first put it down it smelled a bit fishy and I want sure I was going to be able to eat it, but it was ok. It was served on a brioche bun which was also just ok. We tried the tiki wings which were very flavorful, and some fries, which were a little soft for my taste. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing? Although it was recommended by our very nice waitress.

I went here with a buddy for Restaurant Week and I am sad to say it fell flat for me. We went on a Tuesday and the place was far from full. When I asked for for the regular menu my waiter advised that they were only offering the Restaurant Week items that evening. Which I was fine with, but I assumed that because of this fact the food should come out at a reasonable pace… it did not. I ended up having the Kale Salad, the Rib-eye and the Apple Crisp. On a positive note, the food was pretty good. However, the horrible service just ruined the experience. First, it took them more than 25 minutes just to get us our drink(beer and wine). Again, the place was not busy, so I find the slow service inexcusable. Next, the servers kept on taking our food to other tables. We had one waiter, but it seemed that we had two other staff members bringing out the food. They consistently mixed up the orders with my friend and I and the neighboring table. Also the pace of meal was way too slow for place that was only making 5 entrees for the entire restaurant. Another annoying aspect was that they ran out of the the second banana’s foster cheesecake. I could accept it if they ran out few days into Restaurant Week, but this was the second day! Finally, as I was walking out I saw the neighboring table had food of the regular menu. There may have been a good reason why these people were able to order of the normal menu, but seeing this was the last straw for me. In sum, decent food, but service was was absolutely lousy. I am just glad that I did not go there when I was paying the regular prices. I will not be going back.

Detroit restaurant week, May 2015. This is the third DRW dinner I have this week(Top of the Pontch and Roast were stellar). 24Grille didn’t do it for me. I made all my DRW reservations over 2 weeks prior, as soon as the restaurants were announced. When we arrived at 8 sharp, they told us that we need to wait for 20 minutes until our table is free. After some arguing we were seated. The waiter didn’t attend to us until about 10 minutes after we were seated, then another 30 minutes after that. We were basically addressed very infrequently. The food was good. I had the kale salad, veal Marsala with mushroom risotto, and Martha’s Vineyard(apple cobbler). All were decent. I had a bite of the seafood linguine and it was good. A friend ordered his dessert to go. The waiter asked him about it at least 3 times, but she still brought it out! Unfortunately I can’t look past the poor service, from the beginning to the end. When I read the reviews I was hoping it wouldn’t be the case anymore since they’re old reviews. I don’t recommend coming here for dinner on a Saturday night. I won’t be back.

Reservations with a busy week of $ 30 dinners! My kid sister’s pick for restaurant week in Detroit. 24 Grill was busy, loud when my sister asked to sit outside. They set the table up as a special request. Ray, was a terrific waiter! The food quite yummy! My sisters enjoyed the kona rib eye! Huge, half a steak for lunch the next day. I loved the kale salad! Everything was quite lovely!

Simply dreadful with a smattering of insanely unhelpful service and cooks not professionals, and certainly not Chefs. Who does not season fries when they are hot and come out of the fryer? Who has a menu that looks like it’s been photocopied 800 times? Who does not have fresh ground pepper? And, are you ready for it? You sure? Ok, here it is: Who does not have Cheddar Cheese? I’m serious. You can’t have cheddar. You also can’t have olive oil instead of dressing for your salad. Have some pride folks. Have your owner /managers do things, not just walk around. What a killer location — and opportunity for a restaurant to be killer! Any — and I mean ANY restaurant that doesn’t respond to reviews is doomed.
