I added a quick tip but I’m not sure how to flag this business as GONE. It’s been replaced by a convenience store whose employee wasn’t too friendly when I went in asking for Espresso Jazzy Café.

*** THISPLACEHASBEENCLOSEDFORSOMETIMENOW*** The size of this little nook is so small it doesn’t need a giant review. It’s a petite coffee shop with a very small store front(though managing to SQUEEZE three high chairs along the wall) where the very kind and inviting owner(?) sells coffees, teas, & snacks. The counter top sported three big pump-tubs of Ghirardelli’s choclate syrups — yummmm — and they also sell Boylan’s soda products which are AWESOME(though I didn’t see any COLA, which is my favorite Boylan’s flavor). My partner got a tea which she claimed was as high a quality tea as you can find in Detroit that’s not loose-leaf. Beside the sales counter is a steep set of stairs which lead up to an upperdeck, complete with tables and chairs. A few couples were up top talking when we entered(they also have wi-fi apparently). As we were leaving, I noticed how much evening light was pouring in through the front window. Looks like a great spot and I’ll definitely be back to test it out as a study space. Small, super friendly, and cozy. Needless to say, ubiquitous jazz wafting through the rafters.

bf and i stopped in here for a much needed hot chocolate after the thangsgiving day parade. the hot chocolate was better than normal. the floorplan reminded me of the bars in seville, spain. the man behind the counter was super nice and talkative. i could see spending and afternoon here reading up on some nursing stuff. its in a great location right across from opra house parking. overall a nice little place. love, juston

The owner here is a peach and he is always willing to give you a chat. This was my regular haunt when I worked downtown as it was so close to my work. I usually was a latte or tea girl only but I did have occasion to get a very tasty sandwich one day. It was made to order by the owner himself. They had some good treats but I did try my best to resist. I like that they had a stamp card for freebies and always gave you a smile and friendly hello. If you are a regular they remember what you like, which makes me feel all warm about a place. I miss it :(.

How did I never notice this little spot before? Now that I noticed it, I’ll surely be back — and it’s possible my star ranking will go up upon repeat visits. A tiny little place that’s been open for about 2 years, Espresso Jazzy offers a bright colorful and welcoming nook for homework, work or studying. Me? Well, since I don’t drink coffee, I grabbed a root beer, but I was thankful for the free wifi and some good conversation. The owner was a sweet guy — who funny enough tried to chat it up with 3 of us who know nothing about sports stats by saying«I know you guys probably don’t care, but…(insert college football stats here).» Sure enough, none of the three of us understood what that stat even meant, but we were grateful for the friendly demeanor and conversation!

Some weeks back in my endless search for study spots in Detroit, I stumbled on the Espresso Jazzy Café in Harmonie Park. I probably end up going here about once a week. It is a cozy place with bright artwork, good music and a nice vibe. The operator of the establishment is friendly and people are constantly stopping in for a drink and a chat. Besides coffee and tea for sale I have noticed they have baked goods, desserts and pre-made sandwiches. Seating consists of a small area upstairs that opens up to the rest of the café. It is a pretty neat setup. I usually find myself upstairs using the free wi-fi or attempting to study, however Jazzy is more suited to grabbing coffee with friends and having a chat. Also, the shop appears to close at 7 p.m.
