Gethsemane Cemetery & Crematory

It’s been decades since I visited. This cemetery is on Gratiot at Conner, with City Airport sharing the back fence. It is an old cemetery, and has been vandalized over the years. Still, it’s in pretty good shape for as old as it is.
I got there late on a Saturday afternoon and I looked up 6 ancestors. I might have other ancestors buried there, but that’s a different family and they will have to wait for another time. A minimal fee of $ 5 per record look-​up is collected.
Since I was late to arrive, I will have to locate the gravesites on my next visit.
Doing a little genealogy research, I discovered a family member who was buried there in 1913, at the tender age of 9 days. She was most likely my grandmother’s younger sister.
It was humbling to be looking at pages which were written on 100 years ago, and seeing the charge of $ 3 to open a grave. Three dollars!
