I shop here regularly since moving to Detroit. It is the most convenient grocery store in the area(outside of Whole Foods). The prices on certain products(e.g., toothpaste, milk) can be relatively high compared to a Meijer or Kroger. However, the produce and meats are priced very well. They also have a variety of foods(especially a variety of meats) and items which allows me to get all I need at that one store rather than driving from place to place.

This is a true hidden gem in the Southwest of Detroit. The neighborhood is pretty nice in the surrounding area. the build out is one of the nicest investments in a neighborhood in the city. The service is always top notch and they always have what you are looking for. Chips are wonderful and the flavor of the Guac is out of this world. They sell in bulk certain items as well, and they have helped out in a pinch for the restaurants that I used to work at in the city. you could find anything from a hot breakfast to a full meal prepared or a full line of Mexican groceries. If you are in a pinch they have some of the staples that you might need in a grocery store… Top notch always!

This is the only grocery store in Detroit(that I know of) that is owned by a person of color. Great guac and fresh salsa as others have noted. Also a good meat department, good fresh vegetable selection and good prices on the staples. A few surprises(like Siggi’s yogurt and Calder’s dairy) were nice. Small store — very efficient and easy to navigate. Decent beer selection. The parking lot is big enough.

I just ate a pound of carne asada with guacamole that I bought from Honey Bee over the weekend #NoRegrets So happy to finally have stopped by this Mexicantown market — good hours and big parking lot. Will definitely come back for prepared meats and quick Mexican foods. Fresh produce looks good too and at fair price! Prepared guacamole and salsa are bombbbbbbb!!! Meat counter is awesome. Carne asada is not for grill, though, as it is very chopped up but was only $ 4.99 a pound! Street tacos only $ 1.50 and were so good. Also had a pork tamale — yum! $ 9 for a dozen. Will definitely be back, so happy to find this large market close to downtown

OH this was a happy surprise. Not only was it spotless but everything was so fresh and I couldnt decide between the mild or spicy salsa. I opted for the safe route with mild but mmmmmm, love it. The staff are friendly and anxious to answer questions or help you find anything. I can’t wait to get back to get the spicy salsa.

From the moment I stepped in the door(really, as soon as I pulled in the parking lot) I knew Honey Bee would be everything I had heard it would be… and more! Beautiful, bountiful produce galore(literally saw the biggest tomatoes I’ve ever seen in my life)! Holy guacamole(the BEST I’ve ever had)! Spicy salsa(or NOT spicy, if that’s your preference). One of the employees was even wearing a shirt that said«Wake up and smell the chorizo!» I mean, what more could you ask for? The store was very clean, fully stocked, and there were plenty of employees around to help and keep the sales floor in shape. While Honey Bee is in between being a market and a full grocery store, I think they carry pretty much everything you would need… and then some! The location is easily accessed, with a small and clean parking lot, unlike plenty of the larger grocery stores in the suburbs that are just swarming with way too many people at once(this is perhaps the BEST thing about Honey Bee… I loathe nothing more than fighting with oblivious people and wayward shopping carts before I ever even enter a store). I was completely impressed and I only wish I lived closer so I could visit more often! Honey Bee is the place to be! ;)

Tiny little out-of-the-way grocery store in SW Detroit that delivers BIG in two areas; price and guacamole. I used to fulfill my guac craving at the local Whole Foods until a friend introduced me to Honey Bee. Holy Guacamole! It’s delicious and affordable! Don’t forget to pick up a bag of their tortilla chips to go with. Yum!

I came here on a Friday. I was looking for some good mexican food since I was in Mexicantown and came across Honey Bee market. They have fresh, delicious guacamole, salsa and pico de gallo. They also have an assortment of prepared food in the back with daily lunch specials. I got 2 tamales, which are very tiny but tasty! The sandwiches that were pre-packaged also looked very fresh and appetizing.

Go for the guac if it’s the last thing you do in this lifetime. Incredibly delicious. Great selection and prices. I’m going to be a regular.

I cannot go to southwest Detroit without making a stop here. Even if I do not need groceries I will make my wife stop here(and we usually end up buying something anyway). I absolutely love the products they make there(Chorizo, Sour Cream) and everything they offer is very fresh. The meat counter is terrific and carries items that you will not find at your typical Kroger. If you go there the most underrated part of the whole store is the spice aisle, which is worth the walk through even if you don’t have spices to buy due to all the unique smells.

So nice to have a grocery store in Detroit close to Downtown that has a large array of items and is well stocked. Try the guac

Honey Bee is fantastic, hands-down, the best, most reliable grocer in the city(not counting corporate chains like Meijer and Whole Foods). In comparison to other markets, Honey Bee has a much better selection than most. It’s clean, well lit, and their salsa and quac(both made in-house, to boot!) are delicious. Honey Bee is a great family-owned store that offers pretty much anything you could possibly need. Anything they make in-house is stellar. They have some pretty great selection of pinatas(or frightening, depending on your perspective. Is that ambiguous animal a bear? A mouse? The world may never know).

I grew up by honey bee so need less to say I have been there plenty of times. What I like most about this grocery store is the daily lunch specials they make. Although, no matter the day I typically go with the asada tacos. They keep the place pretty clean so that’s a plus. The only thing that annoys me is that they are always switching up they’re drink selection. By that I mean I can go in one day and buy a red bull and the next they don’t have it and probably never will. Same goes for they’re beer selection. They have a nice variety but it’s never the same. The produce is okay. But all in all the store is in a convenient location for me. Would I drive here if I lived in sterling heights just to go here? No. I probably wouldn’t make the trip if I lived in midtown either. Then again, I am lazy. I do like the store though.

Probably one of the best Mexican supermarket but I shouldn’t say that since I have only been to two Mexican supermarkets in Michigan. I was expecting a slightly run down family run supermarket but this place far exceeded my expectations. It is large with a big parking lot. It is clean, well lit, and organized. You can do your normal grocery shopping here in addition to getting traditional Mexican items. Although they offer toiletries I wouldn’t buy these items here.

I frequent Honey Bee, but solely due to their proximity to my home. They offer typical grocery store offerings with a Mexican twist. Unlike your neighborhood grocery store, however, Honey Bee offers a large variety of Mexican items such as locally made tortillas and pastries, speciality meats and cheeses, and fresh foods for the lunch crowd. I am a huge fan of their prepared salsas and guacamole, as well. Honey Bee also carries a decent selection of local Detroit items like coffee, seasonings, and craft beer. I do visit Honey Bee for some of their«specialty» items like frozen Goya products not carried elsewhere(read: Meijer or Kroger) but… The reason Honey Bee gets 3 instead of 4 or 5 stars is because I find them to be overpriced for produce and other foods. I totally understand why prices might be higher for a city based store but some items are ridiculously overpriced. Additionally, there have been numerous times when I have seen fresh produce covered in mold or simply past ripe. The stuff I buy that seems fresh, often doesn’t last as long as fresh food from other stores. Honey Bee is simply not the best speciality grocery store in the area but I do admit they have carved out a niche for themselves with some of their specialty items, house-prepared products and lunch counter.

I love this little market! It’s a staple for my me when I’m looking for carnitas, barbacoa, papaya, mangos, fresh salsa, cheap meat, beans, rice, and guacamole. They have a great selection of different meats, local dairy, and there’s even a small craft beer section. Check them out!

I am obsessed with Honey Bee. This store is basically a wonderland of mexican and hispanic foods. First, you’re punched in the face with free(delicious) salsa, guacamole and chips! Then you’re dazzled by the produce section and it’s super fresh goods! Then you snake around to revel in good meat deals and which mexican cheeses are going to go best with your enchiladas! The meat counter holds a place in my heart for the friendly service, outstanding meat selections(and cuts you won’t find in an American supermarket) and killer chorizo. Not to mention the hot foods and tamales at the end that get devoured by a lunch crowd. Staff is on top of things and love helping out. Even the customers are nice– I got tips on barbacoa from a friendly woman checking out behind me. I always spend way too much money here because I am so excited the whole time, but I never regret it — and my stomach thanks me.
