Jeffersonian Apartments

I have lived at the Jeffersonian for about 5 months now. It had everything that I wanted: A doorman/​gateperson, garage parking, high floors (26 stories), a pool!, quiet
The good things:
–awesome price point. I won’t put the actual cost in my review, but from my research it is half as expensive as living in midtown, and half as expensive as the other well known high rise apartment buildings in Detroit.
–When I moved in the apartment was very clean. Even though the appliances were on the older side, they all were in good working order. I did have to buy a microwave.
–My view is Stunning! I love looking at the river and at downtown detroit!
–The balcony is HUGE.
–The washer and dryers are on every floor and I hardly ever have trouble using them.
–they have shopping carts that you can put your groceries in when you come home (which is a BIG DEAL if you don’t have help)
–Down the street from the Indian Village grocery store. It isn’t Kroger, but they have produce and the essentials (beer wine and liquor!). It keeps the neighborhood from being a food desert.
–the maintenance people will come in a timely manner and
–you can completely renovate/​paint your apartment if you would like. Which is important to some people. I only plan on living her a year, two at the most.
The not so good:
–You have ZERO control over the heat/​ac in your apartment. It is always on. The thermostat doesn’t work! I have to open my windows in the winter time. The only good thing is that the heat and AC are included in the rent
–The elevators go down occasionally.
–the neighborhood is sketchy. It is a block away from Indian Village which has huge mansions and is nice, a mile north of Belle Isle, but the immediate neighborhood is not very nice.
