Johanson Charles Gallery

I’m not really a qualified art critic, but all I can say is that if you are into art, I can assume that you will absolutely love this place. The people there are great (I believe the owner’s name is Kevin). I like out of the way places and this one is a great Detroit secret. But you don’t have to keep it a secret, don’t worry! Call first to see what’s going on there. I found their number on yahoo and it took me awhile, but i could have just looked here on Unilocal,the number is above, yeah I’m quick!

Funny thing is, I think I’ve gone to this cutting edge art gallery more times to see live performances than I have to look at art. Located in the Eastern Market area on Division St. the Johanson Gallery is the place to come to check out fresh and innovative pieces by both local and international artists.
Yet what stands out in my memory, more than the art at this gallery, are the wonderful live performances I’ve seen/​attended here. Out of this world fashion shows, incredible d. j’s spinning incredible music, a night filled with funk and fun.
