I remember the first time walking into JOT. It felt like we were doing something wrong. I was a good dozen beers in when we rolled in the doors. Everybody in the place turned and looked and the phonograph started to skip. Aparently it is a private club, fortunately for us not a very exclusive one that is full of super kind and amazing members who welcome strangers like it’s their business. I forget how much memebership is to JOT, it wasn’t very much, and i am not sure exactly what it gets you. I’m thinking the membership off sets the cheap as hell drinks. The name implies exactly what lies inside. A random group of folks getting together for a post happy hour beer sesh and merry making. I lived on the corner of second and prentice for a while and now wish i hung out there a little more often. It is quite possibly the most off the radar bar in all of midtown. You can tell that they are open by the red neon sign in the window facing forest. A good time to check them out might be during dally in the alley. Definately hidden in broad daylight, I didn’t know that it was even a bar and i had lived on the block for six months. No food, just straight booze, and a good time.
