Same as the previous review… I’ve come here for at least 20 years. Great cakes for the price… very good quality bakery and people!!! Great cinnamon rolls and other pastries. Definitely worth the trip!

I have been a customer of this neighborhood gem sinceI was in highschool. My wife and I attended the former Benedictine Highschool up the road from this establishment. I would go here so much after track practice that my friends began to call me Pastry. I think I’ve had all the different donuts they had to offer. We even had our wedding cake made here and it was delicious and just how we ordered it. It’s also been a traditional treat for us to order our family birthday cakes from here also. The recipes have not changed in the 30 plus years I’ve been going here and everything taste just the way I remembered them, unlike some places you grow up with. So if you’re looking for a place thats big on taste and makes great cakes and donuts in the old bakery in the neighborhood way, this is the place you should be. Love it forever.

Rude. Just rude. Please organize a training session for your employees to learn customer service. I don’t care how wonderful your bakery is. If you have poor customer service, I will(and did) take my business elsewhere.

I’m utterly addicted to the sour cream glazed doughnut from Knudsen’s. My co worker picks us up a baker’s dozen every week. I look forward to «Donut Friday’s». They are truly binge-worthy. So warm and fresh they stick to the wax paper. Mmmmmm donuts… I’ve turned into Homer Simpson. No other donuts will do.

The taste of this bakery is as pure as Betty Crocker’s grandmother’s kitchen… everything is homemade here. Detroit’s best bakery… since 1923. Chocolate covered glazed donuts are the same as they were in 1969… the best donut I ever had. Real Swedish cheese danishes in the window as they were in the 1970’s… creamy and wonderful. There is no bullet proof glass… this is a respected Holy Grail of bakeries. Everyone in the hood loves Knudsen’s Bakery. When you walk into this bakery, you’re going to smell the scent of homemade old school wonderfulness… a Rosedale Park gem still going strong for over 90 years. Forget about the Dutch place on Woodward, the real crème de la crème is over in the westside’s Rosedale Park.

Listen… I swear they have gotten better over the years. The glaze twists and cinnamon rolls are ridiculously good! Stop there asap

Just returned from Denmark and Sweden and experiencing a jones for danish. Researched my options and decided to drive and try Knudsen’s. Yes, the ride was worth it. We purchased 4 items and plan to share each. We have two apple danish and two éclair shaped goods, one with custard and one with bavarian cream. Just ate the custard which is covered in a not too sweet dark chocolate and filled with a tasty custard. The pastry is yeasty, spongy, chewy and oh so tasty. It is light yet does not break into a goo like most store bakery goods. Try this place. 6am to 6pm. Breads, donuts, cakes, and a heavenly scent.

One of the best bakeries! I have been buying bread, coffee cakes, cakes, and donuts for a while. This is good as it gets. Monday is half price coffee cake day which is always a hit. Great donut selection. Fresh bread often warm from the oven. Much better than grocery store bakeries … and it is a wonderful, local, small business. Super-friendly people behind the counters.

I tried this place last weekend and was a hit. I loved everything I got! the donuts were huge, super fresh and just had this homemade taste, the rolls and the bread was no mistake either. I would love to go there every weekend but it was a 45 min round trip for me!

I always order my holiday cakes and my grandmother’s birthday cake for the last 7 years from Knudsen’s bakery. Reasonable prices, friendly staff and the cakes are delicious. What else could you ask for?

I love discovering new places. On any given Saturday morning I can be found at Grand River and Greenfield usually talking with some of my fellow peeps bemoaning the lack of fares to be found. This morning was no exception. I finally hooked a fare going over to Mc Nichols and Outer Dr which meant two good things. I would have some cash to buy some coffee with and I got to do my thing instead of reading more Stephen King. My passenger was only going a short distance, so after I dropped her off I went cruising for the local branch of Mickey D’s. Not being a WestSider™ I began looking for places that might have coffee and something cheap to eat. I found Knudsens quite by accident, so I stopped and GOTOUTOFTHECAB. The aroma reminded me of a long gone but not to be forgotten bakery on the east side. The goodies in the cases were almost too much to comprehend. I nearly passed out from sensory overload. My first question was«Do you have coffee» and I was told yes, and before I ordered my baked goods, she fixed my coffee the way I liked(triple double). I walked out with danish for me and doughnuts for the lady I care for. I was in seventh heaven. I will be back whenever I am in the area, and even when I am not for this is a drive worth making. The coffee is divine and so are the danish. They even sell the day olds for half price which makes Mr Cheap happy, but the prices are so reasonable there is no need to be cheap. I heartily recommend this place. It is a treasure. Those who say there is nothing good in Detroit do not look hard enough.

Pretty delicious everything at good cost. Picked up a box crammed with chocolate donuts, raspberry donuts, raspberry and lemon danishes, bread pudding, eclairs, sweet potato pie slices, walnut cinnamon swirls, strawberry coffee cake… all of this cost $ 8. The friendly woman helping me from behind the counter tossed in a free little dessert thingee out of kindness. I really like this place. Coming from SW however, all the way up to this little NW corner of the city, was not an easy adventure, esp. as Southfield Fwy is closed, AND so is its intersection with McNichols… the hoopla to find this place! but the treasure was worth the navigational headache. yummy.
