So I lived here for a year, 2013 – 2014. Researching Lofts I read a lot of apartments reviews with horror stories of there being rats, stuff stolen by the valet guys out of cars, and even maintenance staff stealing from apartments — NONE of this is true. The apartments have a very modern meets industrial feel, which is exactly what I was looking for in the ambiance of my apartment. The gym is little more than o.k. Little ventilation in a windowless basement room with only a couple machines, but it does the job. The staff are friendly, and the valet guys get ur car downstairs in 5 minutes as promised, rarely up to 12 – 15 minutes. However, if you live in the 1437 building you have to walk outside for a block to get to your car, and I have definitely come face to face with some questionable characters, but never felt that I was in any true danger. I have two major gripes about this place. 1. Price These places are very pricey, and every year the rent goes up. My rent is 1235 + 90 for the valet = 1325 a month — unless you have a lot of money to spend, think hard about it. 2. Noise I have a tiny little neighbor who lives above me, and it sounds like there is an elephant herd stomping around up there every time he walks around. Thank god I am on the end of the building and my only horizontal neighbor is really quiet. You hear EVERYTHING in these places, which is part of the reason I feel they should not be that expensive. Also think about whether you want to live somewhere where you can’t just walk about at night. You are restricted to a couple blocks that are«safe» and should you chose to stray farther you really should be with a group or in a car. There are no grocery stores within a 10 minute driving radius, just whole foods, which is very expensive. There is the YMCA nearby gymwise. Hope this is helpful. No offense to the Lofts, I had a good year, but I can’t afford this for what I was getting. Moved to Royal Oak.

The management is terrible. The washers and dryers never work. The Valet discriminate against women and treat them with disrespect. On the topic of the valet — both elevators that carry the cars broke down for several days and I felt like I was a hostage in my own city, unable to leave due to their unreliable service. Oh and don’t forget the strip club behind the building — it’s an eyesore and the back alley is always trashed which leads to «rats the size of dogs» as stated in an earlier review. Basically stay far far away from this over-priced slum-village. In-unit washer and dryer was so bad that we asked them to take it out so we would have more storage space. The staff is condescending and rude.(not the maintenance or cleaning people though, they are fine)

I lived here for about 18 months and loved it! The staff was great and the valet guys were amazing!!! I can’t rave enough about this place! Anytime I needed to put in a work order, everything was taken care of right away. The social events were a nice bonus too. The only reason I don’t still live here is that I moved out of state. If I ever moved back I would love to live at LOMR again.
