Yooooooo!!! LOU’s!!! This is one of those spots that’s one of a kind. The food is good and once you figure out a favorite you will be back at some point to feed the need. I recommend the Counterman’s Treat or the Dale’s Goof-Up. The menu has a lot of options so no matter what you are looking for they can probably take care of you. The lemonade is awesome. FYI this is a hood spot so don’t go looking for fresh squeezed or gourmet anything. They use quality ingredients for the price point and as I said earlier the food is good. If you are in 7mile and want to avoid the monotonous fast food places and a coney spot just won’t do swing into Lou’s!

what can you say about the original lous deli except it’s always consistent. the cornbeef is lean and the service is fast. This 7 mile and evergreen area location may be a bit rundown but it’s the service here that keeps me coming back to this location. I like the turkey and the pastrami as well. they’ll slice it paper thin and pile it high. well worth the price for a Detroit Sandwich Tradition.

Lou’s on 7 mile has a comparable menu to the other 2 locations. My favorite is the Roselawn special(corned beef, cole slaw, Russian, on onion roll) Yum! If you are not a soft bread eater, ask for the onion role to be grilled. They put a nice amount of dressing on the sandwich which is absorbed by the bread(ask for it on the side if you are picky, but it’s good). The cole slaw is placed in the middle of the corned beef and makes for a good sandwich. They have a variety of corned beef sandwiches named after streets surounding the original Lou’s(on Six mile) with different toppings. If you are traditional corned beef eater, you can even get a sandwich with just corned beef and mustard. A regular sandwich will put you back $ 9& you can eat it in 2 sittings(unless you are starving). It is close to ½lb of meat on the regular sandwich or you can get a mini with 4oz. The onion rings are AMAZING& taste like they were hand made(they probably aren’t, but they are delicious!) Try a slice of yellow cake with chocolate icing if you have a craving for sweet. They have huge slices for under $ 4. Note: I would suggest looking at the menu on line and calling ahead to place your order. I’m not a fan of being on 7 mile after dark & there isn’t much seating at this location. The food is 4 stars, but the service was substandard which affected my rating. In the 20 minutes I was there figuring out what I wanted to eat & waiting on my food, the young lady working there conversed with her siblings. That wasn’t the bad part. The cursing and vulgar conversation was way out of line. I haven’t heard that much cussing since, well ever. And while her brother was trying to get her to give him free food(which I assume is not policy) & get her keys to go «get laid», she really made the visit not positive from a customer service standpoint. Hence, order AHEAD& pick up.

Over the years, Lou’s Deli has gotten rave reviews for their corned beef. Their original location, on West McNichols, is almost synonomous for good corned beef. Having said that, while Star Deli in Southfield is my favorite, I decided to visit Lou’s, since it is in the area and I wanted a good sandwich. Unfortunately, I did not quite get what I want on this one. I will start with the positives, since there are actually a few. First, the sandwiches are not that expensive relative to other delis. Granted, some area coney islands also have corned beef now, and in many cases you get more for your money there. Second, it is clean and well-lighted inside. Third, they provide speedy service. Now, that being said, I was sadly disappointed when I got my sandwich. It was smaller than I expected, and it seemed lacking in other areas. While the meat was good, it was overly sodden in dressing. Additionally, there was nothing really distinctive about it. I felt like I did not quite get my money’s worth. As a caveat, though, when I ordered, it seemed as though I had to request everything I wanted on the sandwich a la carte. Overall, my experience was not bad, but it was just not great, either. Though a bit reluctant, I may have to give this restaurant another try.
