Stopped in the Luftansa lounge in Detroit before my United flight to Houston. They have 1TV showing Wolfgang Puck infomercial. Staff would not change the channel to the AFC playoff game even though no one was watching the TV. They said it is against Luftansa’s rules to change it! Poor customer service!

Stopped in at the Lufthansa Senator Lounge to work for an hour while at Detroit Metropolitan Airport before the flight back to Washington Dulles. I don’t have a membership directly with Lufthansa — but since I am United Platinum — there is apparently a reciprocal agreement for Star Alliance Gold and higher. It’s a nice sized lounge — it was fairly crowded, but I did find a desk to sit and set up shop in, and plug in some devices. Staff was very nice!

This lounge is in the North Terminal near the gates that United and Lufthansa use. It is the smallest Lufthansa lounge that I’ve been in with the smallest selection of food and drink. However, they did have real food(unlike United’s cheese and crackers, cookies, and snack food) and free beer and wine. If your expectations are that this is a European lounge then you will be disappointed. This lounge closes at 6:30 pm(after the Lufthansa flight to FRA departs).

Very good — I love the german approach to these lounges — not quite as comprehensive in terms of hot/cold food options as European Lufthansa lounges but still very welcome if you are at least a Gold Star Alliance guy. My 2 hour delayed flight wasn’t as bad because of this place.

This lounge reminds me more of Scandinavian Airlines’ lounges, than United Club, and thus is better. The food selection was cheese, crackers, pasta salad and fresh fruit salad, coffee, tea, juice and wine. Comfortable leather chairs with tables between them. The lounge isn’t that large, and could possibly easily get crowded. It’s so small that it only has two bathrooms, one for men and one for women. There’s a selection of newspapers and magazines, although most are German. Staff is very friendly. All in all, this is a great spot to sit and wait for your flight.
