Marcus did a great job with the haircut, made great conversation, and was incredibly nice. He also has some awesome in’s with famous clientele, having given haircuts to Kiss, AC/​DC, all of the major local sports teams, and some GM exec’s (today I met Ed Welburn, an auto legend at GM, who just happened to stop by to say hi to Marcus!). The price was also great, such an amazing atmosphere. I will definitely be back!

I was looking for a place that cuts «mixed» hair. Someone recommended this place, asserting that they cut all textures of hair. A man named Keith cut my hair. I asked for a low fade on the sides and back and for the top to be scissor-​cut, maintaining the natural hairline (as opposed to getting an edge-​up). He gave me exactly what I was looking for. The sides and back haven’t looked this good for a while, if ever. And, unlike DC barbers, he didn’t rush through the job. These guys also have manners. Based on this one experience, I highly recommend this barbershop, Keith in particular.

Walked in based on the good reviews for a haircut downtown. Everyone inside was very friendly, many overlapping and intertwined conversations flowed around me while sitting in the chair. Keith is an expert with the shears, he gave me «The JT» and I couldn’t be happier. Looks great, Thanks Keith.
Will be a repeat customer and would recommend to a friend.

A BIG shout out to Marcus and the crew at MLI, The Executive Barbershop from the NY/​NJ boys that stopped in for a cut and some talk. A truly authentic Detroit experience, great service, terrific cut, shaves and a cool place to hang and shoot the BS. This is a must see when in Detroit. Marcus is the man!!!

Great barber shop! My son and I are visiting from North Carolina to watch the Tiger’s play, and had the pleasure of meeting Marcus. Friendly environment, great conversation, and Marcus can sure cut hair. Highly recommended.

New to Detroit and needed to find a barber. Nothing in midtown so I looked downtown. First I tried Pete’s, which was closed, so I tried MLI. Keith cut my hair. Seemed like a good guy and, most importantly, did a great job. I’ll be going back.

Never been here before, but it turns out that the conversations were good, the men were respectful and the owner (Marcus) has an inspiring story of perseverance. Came into town to visit family. Stopped in here for a quick cut. Marcus, the owner, not only did a great job but he was nice and cool as hell. Great little shop right downtown.
