There were a lot of things I wanted to try on the menu, and I’m a pretty selective eater. I don’t think it’s a great value for what you get. Chips should be included with the sandwich. They do a good job overall. The major sticking point for me was that I sat inside in view of the food prep area. There was a man working with fresh ingredients such as buns and lettuce. He was not wearing any gloves. There was a box of gloves on the ledge nearby.

First time customer and will definitely be back, especially to enjoy the patio area outside! Ordered the Barret sandwich to go. Order was ready and waiting, quick friendly service. Place is so cute and has a great looking menu!

I liked this place before, but it’s much better after the expansion. The sandwich selection is diverse enough for anyone to find something that fits their palate. Everything I’ve had was good to great. Their high quality, fresh ingredients make all the difference, even for a very typical sandwich like turkey and cheese. Nothing on tap, but they’ve got a huge bottle selection across every style that’s fairly priced for the scene(and things get even better during happy hour when beers and ciders are $ 1 off or $ 2 off bombers). Their cocktail menu is small, but it looks like they’ve got the ingredients to make just about anything you could want — and cocktails are $ 1 off during HH too! I’ve walked by the patio on my way to the bar and it looks fantastic, but haven’t sat out there yet. Hopefully next time. Waitstaff and bartenders leave something to be desired. But if you’ve read any of my other reviews, you know my feelings about Detroit servers and how this is far from unique. Anyway, this place is pretty cool. You should check it out.

Love the new expansion, makes getting a seat so very much easier. The food is as good as ever. For me there are some hit and miss items on the menu. Service is good, but can be sparse. The beer and wine list are very worthwhile.

Finally made it in to this hidden Historic Corktown location. Small crowd with me for Brunch… Very crowded for a Sunday afternoon, yet a minimal amount of time to wait… Orderd the«Madill» — asked for Fries with my AndWich… Guess what I waz told!!! We have BETTERMADECHIPS… Cha-Ching! Win-Win!!! My Girls laughed as the waitress started naming the Flavors and I asked ANTICIPATINGLY«Sour Cream & Onion???»…a big Yes… A whale of laughter emerges… My AndWich was piping warm Turkey Breast with cheese, Garlic Mayo, crisp Hickory Bacon, Tomato and Avocado… on a Bun… filled with so much flavor! First Bite got me… and the chips made it a Bada-boom of a Time!!! Yum… thank you Mudgie’s… from the person who lives to eat and try new places!!!

Mudgie’s has excellent sandwiches made with locally-sourced items when possible. Regardless of your dietary restrictions, you’re sure to find an inventive sammie or salad here that’ll leave you fat and happy. My favorite is the Sho Nuff: a turkey, bacon, strawberry and cream cheese concoction that makes me forget all manners at the dinner table. It’s deliciously messy. Mudgie’s has a bar where you can sit and eat or just imbibe. The bartenders have been pretty friendly on my visits. They have a great happy hour: M-F from 4 – 7, where you can get a buck off beers, ciders and wines. Paired with their already-reasonable prices and huge bottle list, Mudgie’s happy hour is one of the best in Detroit. Service while sitting at a table is very spotty. It may take ten minutes for a server to acknowledge you and they’ll probably never visit after dropping your food off. For that, I prefer sitting at the bar. If you haven’t visited Mudgie’s yet, what are you waiting for?

We were in the area after stopping at Belle Isle, and decided to stop at Mudgie’s. It was also Flower Day at Eastern Market, which probably explains why the wait was so long. They quoted 30 minutes for the wait, it was probably at least 45 and they kept re-writing the list in different orders. It is a tiny place, so tables don’t turn that quickly. I had a fantastic sandwich with a variety of meats and an egg. For my daughter, they made a plain turkey sandwich that was huge. My wife had a turkey sandwich with an egg, cream cheese and strawberry jam — it sounds odd but she really liked it. I’ll be back again, and hopefully they won’t be quite so busy. Several people told us they’d never seen it this way before and usually just walk in.

What a find! Mudgie’s occupies connected vintage spaces in Corktown, and the overall vibe is very cool and funky. The staff was engaged and friendly, and the atmosphere was lively(the place was packed, and it was a Monday lunchtime!) The selection of sandwiches was absolutely amazing, and they also offered the option of custom-building your own. My husband had a turkey/Waldorf salad type wrap(I forget the name, all of the sandwiches are named!) and I oinked with a ham-and-bacon combination with maple-glazed onions and chipotle mayo(!) The sandwiches were huge, and the quality of the ingredients, superb. We tried sides of potato salad and cole slaw, both of which were delicious and a little inventive. The desserts looked(and sounded) wonderful but we were too full. Afterwards, we strolled around the local Corktown neighborhoods, which are very interesting. I also have to add that for the size and quality of the sandwiches the price point seemed like a bargain — you would probably pay twice as much at Zingerman’s for similar sandwiches.

Mudgie’s is amazing. Went two times, first time I had to wait for about 5 minutes and was updated all the time. The place is pretty busy, and it has a very good atmosphere. It combined an interesting music selection in the indoor seating, which was surprising and nice. I had one of the sandwiches with chicken and roasted peppers, great food and also a great sauce. What I really liked that even with the chicken sandwich the bread was fresh and not soggy because of the sauce or anything. Another sandwich I had here was the Tempeh Insanity. Normally I’m not a big fan of tempeh and it is very hard to prepare well, but this was really good. Not too dry, not drowning out the other flavours. Great sandwich overall. The sangria is really good. Fresh juice was nice as well but a bit pricey for the amount of juice. Probably my favourite place in detroit for lunch/brunch.

What an interesting restaurant situated in Corktown. The bartender said the restaurant was previously a grocery store turned restaurant. I think the rave reviews about their sandwiches is what prompted my visit to Mudgie’s. We arrived on Sunday and was pleasantly surprised that Mother’s Day Brunch Sunday. I really wanted to try the lobster roll(which looks like to be a seasonal item). After perusing the menu, our party settled on the Eggs Benedict Ruben and Eggs Floretine Benedict(I know… what happened to the sandwich crave? I couldn’t pass on the Benedicts… sorry). The Eggs Ruben came out as hard boiled eggs, but our waiter was gracious enough to bring out some soft poached eggs for substitute. The corned beef in the Eggs Ruben was so good! You definitely want seconds of a Ruben sandwich after finishing the Eggs Ruben. I’ve never had this take on an eggs benedict before so it was a delicious surprise. The seasoning as just on point for the corned beef, yum! The Eggs Floretine was great as well. The croissant was buttery and soaked up the runny egg + hollandaise perfectly. Both dishes came with hashbrown or side salad. The hashbrown reminds of the home fries potatoes at Toast. Except Mudgie’s potatoes are cooked perfectly with a good spicy seasoning. This place has me convinced, and I will be coming back for a sandwich next visit.

I really wanted to like this place. I have heard great things from multiple people. And I don’t like reviewing places after only one visit, but I went with a group and no one was happy. Service: In one word slow. And they were not super busy, we had no wait for a table and the entire time we were there, they had no line. And when I say slow I really mean it. We got there and sat down at 12:05, and didn’t get out till 1:46. That was for just 3 of us to order hummus, 3 sandwiches, and 2 deserts. Starters: let’s start with the hummus with both pita and carrots. The hummus was fine nothing special, I added salt and pepper to get some flavor into it. Some of the carrots were old, and there pita looks, tastes, and was simply a tortilla wrap. Not really ideal for Hummus. Entrée: I ordered the Mudgie on pumpernickel. It came on a roll, so they took it back and had to wait almost 10 minutes for them to change the bread. Then when it did arrive the bread was visibly stale. As I was starving I ate the insides of the sandwich without the bread. I was not charged for the sandwich. Everyone else was underwhelmed by their sandwiches. One thought their turkey was a bit sketchy. Desserts: We ordered both the waffle brownie and the waffle bread pudding. We were told in advance they can only make one at a time and each would take 5 mins. Over 20 minutes later the first came out. It was the bread pudding. The ice cream was good, but the bread pudding was like doing the Cinnamon challenge. The same was said about the brownie waffle. But the brownie waffle was further let down by the fact that brownie was more like a dense black sponge with no flavor whatsoever. I am giving 1 star because of all the above but also I would say the bad service was standard as the waitress never apologized once for any of it. If she had then I would assume it was a one off case.

Was having a hankering for corned beef and Mudgie’s came up on my Unilocal. After reading all the great reviews, I knew it was time to stop by. Came on a mid-Sunday morning and the place was already super busy. Nestled on a street corner across the street from a small park, we had some entertainment while waiting for our table. The restaurant newly expanded so it made a little more room for diners, and a really neat open bar with big windows. I ordered the Gutty Sandwich. Piled high with corned beef, salami, pastrami, bacon, cheddar, garlic mayo and topped with a fried egg, I was in heaven! This is hands down one of THE best sandwiches I’ve ever eaten in my life. My friend had the sausage gravy skillet which was also delicious, and my son had the corned beef and hash with friend egg. Didn’t get a chance to sample the alcohol menu this time around, but we will be back for sure!

I absolutely love Mudgies and wanted to check out their brunch. I had the tuna melt without cheese on gluten free bread and it was delicious. If there was mayo on it, I couldn’t tell! It was light and very good with capers and grilled onions. The have more lunch options than breakfast, but you get fried eggs on most of the sandwiches. The only constructive feedback I’d provide is that given how popular they are, they may want to get a hostess because the waiting area was jammed packed and no one greeted us for about five minutes so we were kind of confused on what to do or where to go. I 100% recommend checking it out and all their updates they have put in place!

Oh yes, yes! Yes! Yes! Yaaaaaaaas! More yaaaaaaaaas! I don’t know how much more Yaaaaaaaas I can say, but YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!!! The thing about this place is that I’ve heard of it and it’s reputation. This spot definitely doesn’t disappoint. This is one of those spots that I do adore. It’s a bit pricier than the Royal Choke bars, but that’s a small price to pay just to weed out the obnoxious kids. It’s not a noisy joint so you can definitely hear your friend when you’re having a good conversation over a drink or two. We did order a french onion soup to warm up our soul cause we were just out in a cold and windy doggie park. Glass of water and a Rodney special, we’re definitely good to go. The bar was great, not a lot of seats, but I don’t mind sitting right next to someone I don’t know. Plus our bartender was extremely friendly. She took care of everything we needed and was very engaging. I felt like I was a regular even though it was our first time there. She also invited us to come back during the warmer days cause their patio is dog friendly. Perfect!!! By that time, I will take their lobster roll our for a spin. The pictures look freakin awesome, I can’t wait for it to enter my mouth.

I’m not sure what else could be said about Mudgie’s — GREATSANDWICHESYAY! But I recently had brunch here and I am begging you, you HAVE to try brunch here at least once. It is an Experience. I had the sausage gravy skillet which comes with potatoes and biscuits smothered with gravy topped with two fried eggs, which is then topped with shredded cheddar cheese. FANTASTIC. OHMYGOD. Those potatoes are seasoned in a way that makes them beautiful, and the biscuits have just this slight touch of sweetness that makes them stand out. My dining companion let me have a bite of her Eggs Benedict — which they put on a croissant instead of an English muffin, by the way — and I wished I could have ate TWO brunches that day. Seriously, if you’ve only been there for sandwiches, make a special trip there for brunch. I don’t think you’ll regret it.

My wife and I were attending the Red Wings game on Feb. 10 and decided to try a new spot for dinner before the game. We had seen Mudgie’s on Under The Radar Michigan and decided to stop in and give it a try. Unfortunately, places like this can be overhyped and pretentious so we were cautiously optimistic. However, from the moment we walked in we were greeted by the friendly staff. We were able to get a window seat, which is where we both love to sit in pretty much any restaurant. Our waitress greeted us quickly and was attentive the entire time. We were impressed by their nice selection of brews and the tasty food selections that were on the menu. I ordered the Turkey Trot and my wife ordered the Sho’ Nuff, both of which were generously filled with meat. We ended up giving half of each of our sandwiches to each other so we could both experience a couple of new things. Wow! Both sandwiches were amazing. The flavors and textures were remarkable. Words simply can’t do either of these sandwiches justice. We ordered the Sweet Ruth for dessert and both of us were amazed at how delicious it was. It’s a delightful creation of a bread pudding waffle(Yes, these actually exist!) made with diced apples, served warm topped with a scoop of premium horchata ice cream from Calder Dairy, Sanders Butterscotch Caramel, whipped cream, walnuts and dash of cinnamon. Our waitress was patient and attentive to us the entire time. In fact, she overheard my wife whisper something about my birthday and when we ordered the Sweet Ruth for desert she brought it out with a lit candle. That was a very nice touch! Overall, this was a great experience that has led us to tell all our friends that they need to check this place out. We can’t wait to return again!

The food, ambiance and even the restroom deserve 5 stars but list of what they won’t do takes it down a notch. It bugs me when places offer all kinds of options and interesting combinations, but won’t allow any substitutions. I get the«portioning» argument but if I can design my own sandwich, why can’t I have the bread I want on one of yours? I end up paying more to get one less or one more item, basically recreating what your master tasters have designed. And why can’t you do separate checks or split on more than one credit card? I would love to shadow a restaurant owner one day to find out how these policies are made. Rant over… When I bit into the corned beef, bacon, coleslaw on multi grain, I had to take a moment of silence to give it the honor it deserved. Dang that combo of great corned beef and sweet slaw is an instant favorite. I shall savor the other half later today. I should have seen the bread pudding waffle deconstructed. I liked it, though the apples distracted me. The horchata ice cream was the winning element. Caution: the spinach spread is not a spread. Don’t expect it to be like artichoke dip, it’s more like a tightly packed salad that made me wonder why I was spinning it on tortilla chips. Weird, but tasted fine and fresh. The patio under an umbrella was perfect for today. The place has a happy feel. My waitress also adds to the demotion as we had to ask other servers and staff for things like another plate because she seemed to be absent more than present.

Gotta love Mudgie’s. Still the premo artisan deli in the heart of Motown. The«Barrett», with Sy Ginsberg’s corned beef, creamy slaw, Swiss and 1,000 isle on an locally baked onion roll is the gold standard. It doesn’t get any better than this on the lower East side of Manhattan. Also tried the«Sho’ Nuff» for the first time… roasted turkey breast with Neuske’s cherrywood smoked bacon and Slow Jams strawberry preserves on toasted multi-grain served warm… fantastic melding of flavors! Wash it down with a bottle of Boylan’s Cream Soda and you are in foodie heaven. A solid nickel.

What a neat little place this is! They have a nice outdoor seating area which is cute and quaint(as is the indoor space as well). My son took me here for father’s day. We both had Rueben sandwiches. What can I say. It may be the best in town. It was hot off the grill ! The corned beef was wonderful, the cheese was melted perfectly, the bread was tasty. It was a really great rueben sandwich, and I’ve had a few. We topped it off with some bottle Mexican Cokes. These guys don’t miss a step. Definitely a place to try again.
