Next time I need to find a wedding gift I’m totally coming here!!! Nest is really similar to City Bird which is right next store, but Nest specializes in housewares. I loved their hanging terrariums with air plants. I bought an amazing smelling candle from here «tobacco & patchouli». I can’t wait to stop back in next time I“m in the area!

This is a great gift item store! Picked up great clear glass salt @ pepper dog! Too cool! Inexpensive, unique small items for the person who has everything!

Definitely a cool little shoppe to find some fun unique housewares. They also had a nice selection of men’s shaving gear for your guy, interesting bar ware and cocktail mixers along with some fantastic cook books and kitschy kitchen wares. Worth a looksee for sure since you’ll be across the street at Shinola anyway.

I love everything in this store. local MI artists. expertly curated. amazing that there are so many good finds for kitchen and home in the Cass Corridor. Who would have thought? Exporting all my finds back up North… returning to the D with more room in my luggage.

Another cute store from the same owners of City Bird. I love the kitchen goodies here. It’s a bit small and can get crowded but don’t let that keep you from shopping here. They have a couple of nice benches outside to relax and wait until it clears out a bit. This place is great for the person on your list who has everything, you know the one… you inwardly cringe when it’s time to shop for them. Hop in your car and head to Nest (or City Bird) and I promise you, you will find something… and they will like it!
After you get done shopping go grab pizza at Motor City Brewing Works or dessert at Traffic Jam & Snug!

Cute things for your home, or someone else’s (I bought quite a few gifts here this holiday season). The staff is really nice and has, on several occasions, special-​ordered things for us and then e-​mailed when they came in. On one visit they forgot to put one of our purchases in the bag, but they promptly e-​mailed to let us know and had it waiting for us to come back and pick up.

I love this store! They carry some interesting unique Detroit products, and we grabbed up a few for xmas gifts for our out-​of-​towner people. Since we got there closer to close, we will have to go back so we can get a better look next time!

Nest is next door to City Bird in the Cass Coridor area, and it is a nice addition to all the cute little shops popping up in the neighborhood. Nest carries all the housewares you never knew you needed or wanted. This store is really well-​curated– classics that are hard to find, nifty re-​designs of familiar items, retro and moden items– they have it all.

What a lovely little shop. If your style happens to match Nest’s, you are in for a treat! They have the kind of little extras and housewares that just make you smile – full of design savvy and good humor. There isn’t a ton in the store, but that’s fine by me. It’s a matter of quality over quantity, and I find their prices to be totally reasonable, to boot.

Nest is a great shop, sister stores with City Bird next door which is equally endearing. They have big olé sidewalk signs out front to let people know their open and when I visited on Saturday afternoon they were pretty busy which made me oh so happy!
The store is very small but filled with all kinds of treasures for your home, or unique gifts for others. It is not cheap stuff, but not so expensive a college kid couldn’t splurge on a nice item or two.
Expect to find items like art/​apparel promoting Michigan and Detroit, plants for the urban home, plates, mugs, french presses, tote bags, local canned pickles and bloody mary mix, soap dishes, books, and more!
4 stars to the sweet owners of the shop who truly know their stuff and care about what they’re selling and doing in the city. and 4 stars because there is cool retail off W Canfield in Detroit and that is something we can all be excited about!

Cute shop in Midtown! The housewares all have a very clean design. They’re all trendy too — terrariums, soy candles, unique goods. I bought a pack of foldable letters that double as envelopes.

Stopped in here very quickly before dinner at Traffic Jam. They have such nice, unique and cool stuff, I felt I needed to come back and really take the time and spend some money!

I love this spot! This is my favorite spot in the city — and the region — for housewares, accessories, gifts, and all sorts of decorations. When I’ve come looking for presents, I’ve never left without finding the perfect gift — and I’ve come looking for things for young dudes, my grandmother, lady friends, and for myself. Andy, Emily, Brenda, and Anna are always super friendly and have the best recommendations. Stop by often– the stock always seems to change, with lots of awesome new stuff.

Yay! The fabulous folks behind City Bird have rolled out another fantastic shop that I’m thrilled to have in town! I was definitely sad when I heard Bureau of Urban Living was closing but that sadness was tempered by the news that this new shop was coming in.
If you liked the housewares and such that BoUL carried than you’re really going to like Nest. Loads of lovely and unique goods like interesting bottle openers, fancy coffee and tea accessories, plates, glassware, and other kitchen doodads, table linens, candles, locally made food products, artwork (like a gorgeous assortment of framed butterflies), etc etc. Right now they have a stunning collection of terrariums and other greenery by Pot & Box out of Ann Arbor. Perfect for a unique gift for the elves on your holiday list this year.
Love this new space, the soothing modern décor, the support of local companies making awesome wares, and the fact that I can find something for everyone on my list without breaking my wallet. I’d tell you what I bought but it’s a surprise! But trust me, I’m going to have some happy friends and family this Christmas! Thanks, Andy and Emily Linn for bringing such a wonderful shop to us!
