Well, it’s no Honeybee. But Sam’s has decent prices on whatever typical grocery store fare you’re looking for. The prepared foods(chicken, beans, spanish rice, menudo, etc) are decent and well priced if you’re looking to grab a meal on the run. Good deli counter & produce selection(again, I’d go to Honeybee first but I’m partial…). Fresh baked goods, and a little section of «home good» stuff and non-food items. Plus, they’re open later than some of the other grocers in SW Detroit(Til 9 at least, even on Sundays).

Great prices, cheapest peppers and herbs, meat specials. Sam’s is a decent place to go once in a while. I don’t go here too often, only a handful of times, but when I do go, there’s been some crazy bargains to be had. Actually, they always have the lowest prices on a variety of fresh peppers(which I don’t cook with, typically) and also cilantro and mint(which I do keep in the fridge often). They have meat specials that, if you keep your eye out for them, can save you a handful of bills on some really great meat for the BBQ — the chicken especially(though I tend to like more the marinades they use over at E&L supermercado, even though the prices aren’t as good) Otherwise, the place is stocked to the gills with imported Mexican dry goods and non-perishables. A million different varieties of Mexican sodas and fruit drinks, and also prepackaged desserts and cereals. Open late on sundays.
