The staff is very friendly. We ate here everyday for breakfast again. Well done Sweet Lorraine!

Terrible. It’s like their deliberately trying to serve bad food. Everything I’ve had(3 meals) has been awful. Seriously… it’s hard to serve food this bad. The only saving grace is the bar. Even the waitress this morning at breakfast yelled at me for asking for coffee. Absurd.

I’ve always enjoyed Sweet Lorraines. This is the second time I’ve been here on business, and the service was attentive, much more than the other locations I’ve been to. The food is inventive and always tasty. I’ve never waited for service, even during busy convention times. It’s a good choice beyond the norm downtown. Sure, you could get pretty plain hotel food nearby, but what’s the point? I can say I’ve been there for both breakfast and dinner, and I’d recommend dinner over breakfast. Breakfast is a bit pricy, but there is lots of good healthy choices on the menu. I myself did not go healthy. I opted for some grits, and they were a bit disappointing. Everyone can’t beat Ari at the roadhouse though. Stop in for yourself when you are downtown and need a break from the freezing cold wind off the D River.

While waiting for the Detroit fireworks to start a friend and I wandered in to Sweet Lorraine’s to grab a quick dinner before the show. Even though with the crowd dowtown for the fireworks we were able to be seated right away. We did not have enough time to stay and enjoy an entrée but we did share the«red, white, and green» salad as well as a portabello sandwich. Both were excellent and not your average salad and sandwich. The service was great and we were able to get in and out within 45 minutes, which was nice since we were able to catch the entire show of fireworks. The interior was decorated very nicely with bright welcoming colors such as yellow. Next time I go there I will leave enough time to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine as well as an entrée. If the entrees are as delicious as the salad and sandwich were then I’m sold.

Great food with fresh ingredients. Portion is big enough. Caution on the time you need to dine here. Allocate at least an hour to lunch here. Anything less and you risk being late to your next meeting.

I’m not a fan. The service was good, but the food left much to be desired. After reading other people’s reviews about the«great food,» maybe it’s just me– but I wasn’t impressed.

I’m shocked at how highly some of you have rated this place, honestly. The food there is good, but c’mon…4−5 star range? No way. Since I may need to defend my seemingly cynical viewpoint, I’ll name three reasons why this place doesn’t get top billing: 1. The service is inconsistent. 2. The food is overpriced for what it is. 3. There are much better places in the area. I think this place is pretty much about as average as they come. Now, they try a bunch of «fanciness», but essentially, it’s just on par. I don’t know. I can’t put my finger on it, but when I walk in there, even though the décor is unique, I feel like it’s trying too hard. And, when I walk out, I never feel good about it.

I would rather not give this place ANY stars. I went here with my husband and his parents before seeing Wicked this winter. We have been to the other Sweet Lorraine’s locations and thought this would be a nice dinner. Honestly, I will never go back to this location… ever. The service was beyond poor. We waited for a very long time before even being greeted. It took forever to get our drinks(water and lemonade!) — which were only refilled after flagging down the server and again waiting a long time. And although they claim to have four-star chefs on staff when being asked about gluten-free he had NO idea — even implying that plain rice did have gluten in it — wrong! After(finally!) ordering we waited so long for our meal that we were nearly late for the show and we should have had plenty of time. I ordered what they called paella. It was the farthest thing from it. It was actually closer to a really gross stir fry. I was so disgusted I don’t even remember what everyone else ordered but none of us were impressed. If you want to try Sweet Lorraine’s try it in a different location!

I attended a going away dinner here(attending a lot of those lately) and had a great time. My friends moved to Florida and we were there to say good-bye. We stayed for about 3 hours and the hosting staff was so attentive. They kept the appetizers and drinks coming. There were no mix ups with who ordered what. I though that was impressive considering we were a party size of about 23. The environment is always vibrant in Lorraines and me and this group did everything to add to it. The entire evening was wonderful except for the fact that I was saying goodbye to friends. The food, the staff and parking were A1 that night. No complaints at all!

I was in town for a few weeks for business and ate at Sweet Lorraine’s often because it was in my hotel– hurray for per diem! All in all, the food was excellent. My favorites included the tilapia, pot roast, chicken kabobs/salad, and mac and cheese. The tomato dipping sauce and focaccia were fabulous! The pecan chicken was a relative weakness, but it was still pretty good. The only thing keeping this from 5 stars was the service. It was consistently pretty bad– slow and not terribly friendly. Dishes were forgotten without apology or even much recognition. Essentially there was no sense of being welcomed to the restaurant at all.

Sweet Lorraine’s is pretty cool, although I must admit it used to be better. The interior is pretty and colorful and the ambiance is very relaxed. Perfect place to bring a informal date to, or to have happy hour at. One of the favorites on the menu is the pecan-crusted chicken, which you definitely must try. The customer service is always great, but finding parking during lunch time may be a mission. I would say, expect to kick out $ 15 dollars or so for a yummy meal.

I love Sweet Lorraine’s! The waitresses are hilarious and inviting. The food is delicious and bountiful. I order the same thing every time I visit, Lorraine’s Salad(with sweet poppyseed vinaigrette dressing) and Spicy Jerk Chicken Pizza. I know what you’re thinking, a fresh made pizza during a one-hour lunch, what are you thinking? But those wonderful women at Lorraine’s know what lunch-hour rush hour means, they are speedy and polite.

I absolutely adore this restaurant! I have patronized the Detroit and Southfield locations and have been more than happy at both. The daily specials are always awesome and being a vegetarian, it is so nice to have so many veggie options(and at least one of the daily specials is always veggie friendly). If the daily specials don’t catch your eye, the menu has a wide selection of entrees and several vegetarian options. I always enjoy the specials and don’t miss out on the brie appetizer! They also offer a nice wine selection and some good martinis. I agree with Glenn that the waitstaff is awesome. They are always trying to please and seem genuinely happy to be there. Oh, and be sure not to pass up the chocolate mint truffles that you get with the bill!

This place takes the cake for serving the best mini corn pineapple muffins in the Universe. Served with a crusty fresh foccacia slice and a tangy Italian tomato dipping sauce, this has to be one of the more unusual bread plates I have had and LOVE. I don’t know what they put in the water here at Sweet Lorraine’s but clearly the wait-staff all drink it and become the best gosh-darn waitresses I’ve had the pleasure of talking to. E.g. when I asked the waitress tonight for another mini muffin, she brings be TWO. When I ask for a box to take home my fantastic but too big California hamburger, she puts TWO more muffins inside the box all wrapped up. Be still my beating heart. Another waitress was«hawking» the desert tray for the booth next to me and it was a pleasure to hear someone not drone one about something they clearly knew by heart, but rather with a fresh spin on «I’m happy to tell you!» The fresh calamari came out with three good dipping sauces and took most of my appetite prisoner while the aforementioned California Club Burger [“a half pounder made from Metcalf Farms Certified Piedmontese Beef, with mozzarella, tomato, guacamole, applewood-smoked bacon & a dill pickle on the side.”] took the rest of the appetite and shot it on site – no blindfold or obligatory last cigarette. I mean dead. It was a blissfully good way to go. Per the Terminator: «I’ll be Bach.»
