Beautiful gallery! I attended the Detroit Doll Face show last weekend, and viewed Ben Sharkey’s pieces. The space was clean and open — as you would expect a gallery to be. The vibe was modern and friendly, unlike some of the New York and Chicago galleries I have visited. I am not an art aficionado, so I expect some level of aloofness when gallery staff realizes this. Not here! Purchasing my Doll Face piece was simple and painless. The show is still gong on, take a look!

I was privileged to preview this forthcoming gallery space and was blown away. Mr. N’namdi has done an incredible job re-imagining the enormous historic garage structure and in doing so, he has created a wonderful, inviting, and inspiring gallery space. Originally established in 1981, the prior incarnation of the N’Namdi Gallery gained renown as an internationally influential abstract contemporary art gallery, and I believe that this newest project will only build on that reputation. The building is part of the in-progress Sugar Hill Arts District project which will incorporate the gallery in with MOCAD, artist businesses, studios, and housing on Garfield.
