Magnuson Hotel

I can’t even begin to describe how great this place is– and it all began with the guy at the front desk (Mark). Let me start off by saying that I stay at 5 star hotels across the country all the time for work, so I know what 5 star service at a front desk is supposed to look like. Guess what? You’ll find it here. Mark could NOT have been more attentive and efficient-​as well as courteous. This guy should teach a class, because he is just awesome. Next, the hotel. Don’t let the modest room rate fool you– this place is a gem. In addition to being impeccably clean and comfortable, I felt very safe in and around the hotel– even though I didn’t check in until late at night. If I could change anything, it would be that I wish the place was five times bigger, because once word starts getting out about this place, I have no doubt that it’s always going to be sold out when I need a room. :). A short distance to MSU, with a great shopping center/​mall along the way, I couldn’t be more pleased that While my daughter attends MSU, I have a new home away from home. My brother and I recently spent a night at this hotel near the Lansing airport. After a week long cross country trip we were ready for a «nice» place, and boy! did we find one. Its a large, 3 story bldg, but there were very few guests that night. The room was large, clean, modern with 2 comfortable beds. There is an indoor pool and a tiny gym, free wi-​fi, and they serve breakfast in the morning. The thing that impressed me is that my brother was heading for the airport in the morning. When he asked if there was a shuttle (no shuttle) the woman behind the desk said that while she was getting off work at 11pm, she would be back at 7am and would take him to the airport herself. Turned out she asked the maintenance man to drive my brother in her car to the airport. That was above and beyond, in my opinion. We will definitely stay there again if we are in the area, and would go out of our way if necessary.
