For Michiganders of a certain age, Bill Knapp’s was a restaurant you loved to go to with your parents for a good meal. BK has been gone for more than ten years, but somehow has morphed into a bakery that puts out donuts and other baked goods for grocery stores. On a recent trip, I stopped by my mother’s place. She had a dozen nutty dunkers on the kitchen counter, and we never broke into the box. She insisted I take them with me for the road. Later, I ended up in a library studying and writing for hours, and skipped lunch. When I got back to my car at about 4PM, there was the box of nutty dunkers. I tried to resist. But I was unsuccessful. During the course of the next 24 hours, somehow I managed to eat the whole thing. They were A-OK. Postscript: I drove 1500 miles in a week+, and gained exactly four pounds. Bill Knapp’s Nutty Dunkers accounted for pound four.
