BOB Rafting

Took a trip with BOB rafting just last weekend with my girlfriend and I have to say it was awesome! Very knowledgeable guides gave us historical information about the black river area in addition to very clear directions and hazards while we were rafting. Price was fantastic and even came with a cookout BBQ afterwards! Bob and all the staff were super friendly and I’d recommend them to anybody!

my first time rafting and I am glad to say it was with Bob’s crew!
Sam was the guide for my raft. pointed out a lot of interesting facts about things we’d pass, and was a great instructor. Seth gave us the overall safety info and Scotty drove the reformatted school bus which transported all of us from the storefront to the river. all the required safety gear — vest and helmet — was checked over multiple times before we hit the water.
we split our group of 8 guys into 2 boats, which worked well since half of us were newbies and half of us were more experienced.
you also get a few chances to go swimming in the calmer sections. the whole experience is a total adrenaline rush, a great workout, and takes a little over 2 hours. halfway through there’s a break for granola bars and water. at the end, when you return to the store, lunch is provided: baked ziti, BBQ chicken, salad, rolls, and lemonade. in total, it runs about 60 bucks a head, which seemed fair.
highly advisable: wear swimming shorts, a shirt that isn’t cotton, and water shoes. also, leave your valuables in your car; you won’t need them and you don’t want to lose them.
everything was handled safely, professionally, flawlessly, and we had a total blast. major props to Bob (though we didn’t get to meet him) and his staff!

We’ve been going here for the past three years. Bob and his wife, Sue, are so nice and down to earth. For $ 59/​pp (or $ 50 if you go on Memorial Day or Labor Day weekend, they also have other discounted prices for group or military) you get an awesome experience, with a ziti & chicken BBQ picnic on the back patio at the end and great guides. The trip is Approximately a 2 hour ride (6 miles). We request Scotty every time, he is knowledgeable, funny and nice! If the water is cold they provide you a full wet suit and splash jacket at no extra charge!

This was so much fun! I would recommend BOB Rafting to all my friends and other Unilocalers! Even though we took our trip in August, (in exceptionally lower water because of this drought!), we all had such a blast! The Black River was a great experience, and the dam release provides category 4 rapids no matter what time of the year you go! I’ve fallen in love with whitewater after that trip, and need more! BOB Rafting (especially our guides Mike and Bernie) did a great job of providing safety and the best value for our trip.
I can’t wait to schedule my next trip with BOB Rafting this spring on the Hudson!
