Unfortunately, Huron Camera’s customer service has degenerated over the years. At one time, they were one of the best camera stores in the region. I still use a camera I bought from them 20 years ago. No longer. The store has very little stock and looks shabby. I was charged 200.00 for a photo restoration that resulted in my great, grandmother’s face becoming unrecognizable. When I told the restorer it wasn’t right, he brusquely said«That’s the best I can do.» I ended up having the work done somewhere else. Huron Camera camera’s owner refused to refund the money stating«Restoration is artistic. I think it looks fine.» Apparently, Huron Camera has forgotten it’s the customer that determines that, not them! Be very careful with this store before having them work on your photographs. Get it in writing that you will receive a refund if you are unhappy with the work. You will be better off dealing with a professional restoration service. A sad excuse for a camera store.

I was impressed with Huron Camera from the first phone call! I know very little about cameras and couldn’t get mine to work, so I made an initial call with lots of questions and they could not have been nicer or more patient with me. I brought my camera into the store for repair and they were very kind and gave me a thorough explanation of what would be done and at what price. Very friendly and knowledgeable — I appreciate the excellent service!

I first became aware of Huron Camera in 1985, when I took my trusty 1950 vintage Argus C-3 to them for repair. A friend of mine highly recommended them, so I hopped into the car and off I went down I-94 to Dexter. Within two weeks they had my camera ready, completely repaired, cleaned and lubricated. The old girl took photos like she just came out of the factory in Ann Arbor. Several of the repair technicians at Huron Camera, used to work at the Ann Arbor based Argus Camera Company. They have a wide selection of parts to keep your vintage cameras in fine working order. Likewise, they still carry a wide selection of Fuji, Ilford, and Kodak consumer and professional grade films in 35 mm, 120 mm, and single sheet up to 8″ x 10″ in size. Huron Camera also stocks the latest in digital cameras and accessories. Whether you want a simple point and click model, or a larger professional grade DSLR they carry it. In addition, their service department is able to fully repair and restore most digital cameras. I highly recommend Huron Camera over everyone else in Southeast Lower Michigan. One you try them, you will love the place.

Everything you need is there! Wonderful, friendly customer service! Mary Lou at their printing lab does the best work in Washtenaw County! This definitely the best place to go for cameras and printing!

Huron Camera is a classic camera shop, carrying all the major brands from consumer point&click to the high-end SLRs. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful and they go out of their way to help you find the equipment that is right for your needs. They deal in both new and used equipment and prices are only slighty above what you might pay online from a NYC discounter. The difference is well worth it for the assistance they provide. They are in Dexter village, so the parking is free and right outside the door.
