I had previously reserved storage through public storage @ 3155 West Walker in League City for two 10×20 units, to use to store my entire collection of furniture and household goods for a couple months while my new house is being finished after selling my old house. However, when we went on the date we’d reserved the units(prior to our moving date, just to avoid issues on the day movers showed up), we found out that online reservations through Public Storage aren’t actual reservations, just locking in of pricing. They didn’t have two units available, and offered to book us(at a different, higher rate) a second unit at a different location. This would’ve added time(and in turn, cost) to my move, so I decided to see what other options were available in the area. I remembered driving by a storage facility on the corner of 646 and 517, so I found the name via google maps, and looked them up online. This is when I was reminded why I booked public storage — High Point Storage does not list pricing on their website. I hate talking to people, so I book online any time I can. Given the urgency, I decided to call and see what they had available and what the rates were like. Rates were a little higher than public storage, but when I let them know, they gave me a call back later with a discount that made the rates very competitive. Additionally, they use standard slides for locking the doors down, and you can provide your own locks(instead of buying the stupid cylinder locks from public storage for $ 20 that you can’t use for anything else down the road), and if you sign up for auto debit payments, they give you a free lock! They had two units available(all are on the first floor) right across from each other, which would make it quick and easy for my movers(saving me money). The facility was VERY clean, the staff VERY helpful, and the security system seemed to be much more high tech than that at public storage(higher resolution on the cameras, etc). Additionally, they let you set your own pin for the gate(easier to remember than the assigned one at public storage) and you can access your units 24⁄7 instead of 7am-9pm(not very convenient for me to not be able to go after 9pm). High Point Storage came through for me and really bailed me out of a bad situation after the non-reservation reservation at public storage fell through, and I only wish I had bothered to call them first, as I could’ve saved myself quite a headache. I don’t write many reviews, but after all the anxiety over moving and horror stories I’ve heard about every aspect of it, I felt it was needed to share when I had such a great experience.
