The Renaissance Center is a tad outside my Nashville alcohol umbilical cord reach but I braved the journey… For Art! I can’t speak for the many instructional and community functions of the building, I wondered to Dickson to watch a play at the Gaslight Theatre. The Renaissance Center is a modern building with nice architectural touches throughout. If you’re early for a show(we were) you can wonder around and see some of the students art. A short spin down a spiral staircase takes you to the Gaslight downstairs. A nice little venue with teared table seating a fairly good size stage. I found out, to late, that you can BYOB. So bring a nice bottle of wine and they will chill it at your table. The cast was good, the service attentive and the buffet was surprisingly good. For the most part it was simple southern fair; pulled pork BBQ, catfish, BBQ chicken, mixed vegetables, salad, cobbler, pumpkin pie, fruit, banana pudding and ice tea and coffee. I’m sure I’m forgetting a few items but it was all good and to be honest better than I expected. All in all a very pleasant visit, go and support local theatre!
