This place is in my opinion is a «greasy spoon» joint. Questionable hygiene in the kitchen and sketchy food servers. Go someplace else.

Good food, great people! I come in for breakfast about every other month when I’m in town getting my truck serviced at Jim Manning Dodge a ½ block away. They know my usual– French Toast, Scrambled Eggs, and Fruit. A cup of coffee and glass of water is at my table almost before I sit down.

I never liked this place much. The food is not great, hardly edible if your as picky as I am. The staff is great. Nice and friendly people but the place is not the cleanest place I have seen. If your not picky and you don’t worry about the cleanliness then it will probably be perfect for you. I am super picky, crazy picky.

This place is fantastic… absolutely fantastic.
I imagine if food network were to ever get their gears together, and do a piece on food of central california, Val’s Diner would definitely have to be a stop. The decour will take you back 20 or so years, it’s so charming and real. The waitstaff is incredibly attentive, and sweet.
Most significantly, the food is incredible. Pancakes the size of Rhode Island, eggs cooked perfectly day in day out. Hash browns that should come with a surgeons general warning for being so addictive. Fantastic.
5 stars. If you’re in the area, stop by. Even if you’re just passing near the area, make it a point to stop by. You will not regret it.

Ate here for lunch when working at a job site nearby. I had the patty melt and buddy had a turkey sandwich. Both were very decent. Fries seemed a little old but were serviceable.
Bottom line: standard diner fare done pretty well and really friendly people.

The breakfast over here CANNOT be beat!!! Get the pancakes or anything with their country gravy! Their country scramble is incredible!
The burgers are huge and perhaps some of the best in the Central Valley.

well how do i get started? first of all ive been going to vals since i was in high school. and it hasnt failed me yet. val is one of nicest persons you will ever meet. this is a mom and pops place.
