Alice in Wonderland

How deep does the rabbit hole go? Well, if you’re willing to wait for about 45 minutes in Fantasyland, you’ll definitely find out!
Unlike the majority of the dark rides in Fantasyland, Alice in Wonderland isn’t too scary and incorporates a combination of animation and figurines in their scenes. Seeing the Cheshire Cat dematerialize until his eyes and his grin are left is kinda cool, and watching the Red Queen lose her $#!t and going «Off with her head!» is definitely a moment. And, the track heading outside towards the Mad Hatter’s tea party is worthy of a selfie or two (especially when you’re in front)!
Definitely worth the long wait! (Just bring something to keep the kiddies entertained.)

I am a HUGE Alice in Wonderland ride so I made my family ride this one and I was in absolute heaven. Then I was fortunate enough to meet the character, I practically squealed.

I haven’t been on this ride is ages and honestly after seeing it closed the last few times I have visited I thought it had closed for good.
Low and behold it was open on our recent visit and I had a very nostalgic ride down the rabbit hole. The movie has never been a favorite of mine but the ride is silly and fun with a little creepiness thrown in for good measure. Definitely worth a visit if they are open.

I enjoyed Alice the most out of all the kids rides.
Line moved semi slow.
Story was good. The coaster was cool. Graphics are updated.

Always a long line here… just like the rides surrounding it such as Mr. Toad, Peter Pan, etc. All are great rides for kids; lots to look at, visually fun and you get to ride in a fun little buggy of some sort. But they all just have a different story to tell.
When preparing to board the Alice In Wonderland ride, you wind through twisty vines and metal plants while waiting for your caterpillar carriage. Although the lines are typically long (like I said), it usually doesn’t seem that way since you have plenty to look at.
It’s one of Disney’s staple rides that is a classic and rarely changes. Upgrades in technology make it a bit more «realistic» and bright. If you know the story of Alice then you’ll notice that the ride brings all the pieces together. I love Alice in Wonderland… although I think the best part of the ride is that you get to sit in a caterpillar.

I like this ride chiefly for the line… Seriously, some of the visitors most in need of a stiff drink can be found in line for this ride! Maybe it’s the allusions to psychotropic drug use in the movie. Or maybe it’s the inescapable and incessant pipe organ music of the adjacent Mad Hatter’s tea cups that drives those in the queue to the brink of madness. Whatever it is, people in this line are definite NADs (needs a drink!)
Once you finally get on the ride, you will quickly notice that whoever laid this track should be banished to ride the submarine voyage for the rest of his/​her Disney career. Pointless S curve after S curve tests even the strongest of lower back muscles. You know how Star Tours has a store at the end of the ride where you can purchase Star Wars swag? Alice in Wonderland should have massage chairs and maybe a chiropractor at the exit. Even after you exit the animated innards of this ride, and you’re on final approach outside… It’s still crazy back and forth potential for neck injury.
Inside, things start tamely enough: the little white rabbit. Clocks. Flamingos. The Cheshire Cat. The hookah-​smoking caterpillar takes things to a slightly more somber tone… And then, the Queen of Hearts commands sword-​wielding warriors «Off with her head!!!» At this, my three year old daughter– who originally was content to look for the white rabbit– lets out a blood curdling, terrified scream, and buries her face in my shoulder, crying. She’s never seen this movie; now, she never will. «I want Elsa!» she begs.
Granted, the appearance of Satan and his assembled fallen angels in curtains of flames on the neighboring Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride elicits a worse reaction… But not much worse.
Happiest Place on Earth, Indeed. Fantasyland needs a Karl Strauss beer truck…

Take a journey with Alice down rabbit hole!
Like other rides in Disneyland, this is based off the classic and is one of those you need to do at least once. The animatronics are of course well done with this ride and there is plenty to look at. Alice in Wonderland can be trippy and this ride is certainly no exception.
We got to the park early and didn’t wait more than a few minutes to get on here, but when we walked by later on there was a very long line — so make this one of your priorities when you first get to this area of the park during a busy time.
Definitely one of those rides you need to experience at least once and fans of the movie/​book will of course love it.

This is the second best ride in Fantasyland right behind Peter Pan. (IMO of course) The only rides that would be considered better than these would be the children’s rides at DCA, but I really don’t think it’s fair to compare them because everything in DCA is so new. And at the end of the day, a classic is a classic.
The line for this ride is usually kind of long because it’s a very popular ride, usually no shorter that 20 minutes on a good day. On a busy day you can be guaranteed that the wait will be at least 45 minutes. The ride is directly across from the Teacups with a busy walkway in between and the line usually uses up some of the space in the walkway making the walkway and the line very narrow. Waiting for this ride is pretty cramped, but definitely worth the wait.
I think the ride is a great representation of the movie and isn’t terrifying like some of the others in Fantasyland. The colors are great and it’s not as dark inside as the other children’s rides are in Fantasyland. There is a «scary» part in the ride, but that’s only when you go through the dark forest and it’s not as much as the other rides and pulls you back into the wonderful world on Wonderland when you come out the other side. It’s also a little bit longer than the other children’s rides. Sometimes you wait in a long line and the ride ends up being very short and kind of not worth the wait, but this ride doesn’t make you feel that way. I love that some of it is inside and then two thirds of the way through it takes you outside where you think the ride is over, but it’s not and it takes you back inside to show you the unbirthday ending.

This ride is right next to the Mad Hatter Tea Cups. I like how there’s lots of moving scenes from the cartoon movie. I also like how there’s a section of the ride that goes out into the open air at the top then makes it’s way down before re-​entering to the last part of the ride so you’re not completely indoors the whole ride. It is more suitable for little kids, but it’s okay for adults if you just want to take a break from the more wild rides.

One of the best rides in Fantasyland, especially since they updated it last year. This ride really does make you feel like your inside the movie. I love it!
My only complaint is I wish they integrated the tea party a little bit earlier in the ride. It just doesn’t feel right having it at the very end like that after you’ve kind of already gone through the story.
And… Where are the little oysters?!!

For years and years this and Peter Pan have been my absolute favorite Fantasyland rides (even though all of them are my favorite) but these two are definitely the most popular. The additions of the new animation scenes have done this ride justice, it was great before but these new animations have just tipped it over the top for me. The colors throughout the entire ride are so vibrant and i LOVE the little caterpillar cars you are in and let me just say, this ride is a prime example of how slow the cars should travel, you get to take in everything and really see the scenes. Some other Fantasyland rides (namely the older ones) move too fast and it takes away from the experience when you have to quickly move your head from side to side to capture everything thats going on because its too quick.

This ride and Peter Pan always have significantly longer lines than any of the other storybook style rides in the park… and for good reason.
It’s a cute ride on colorful caterpillars that’s been updated with visual effects and other refurbishments. It’s colorful, whimsical, and features upbeat music. My daughter loves this one and is always trying to drag me on it, but we do often prioritize other rides due to its significantly longer wait time.
I like how it goes outside for a little bit in between to make you THINK it’s over… and then BAM! They give you 30 more seconds of wacky goodness inside!
Popular as it is and with as many refurbishments as have been made, I don’t think it compares to some of thr newer storybook-​like rides including Mike ans Sulley to the Rescue, Little Mermaid, Toy Story Midway Mania, and Buzz Lightyear. Still a ton of fun though.

Came here with my best friend at Disneyland a few years ago.
It’s a ride for very very small children. I did the ride ’cause a little girl really really wanted to go with me ’cause she liked my neon yellow hair so I obliged and her parents were surprisingly trusting and okay with it.
The card people were a blast.
I can see why kids would find this charming.

«Alice in Wonderland» was never my favorite ride – simply because this was never my favorite Disney movie – but I must admit, this animatronics feature got 1000% better after its refurbishment last year. «Alice» now features high-​end technology and the ride itself just seems more contemporary and modern.
I do have to give «Alice» props because, of all the animatronics rides in Fantasyland – including «Peter Pan’s Flight,» «Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride» and the like – this one seems to be one of the longer ones, and the scenes actually happen in chronological order, as depicted in the movie. None of the rooms are completely different since the refurbishment, but there are certainly more embellishments that make the ride more modern and the incorporate even more details from the movie.
I’ve only been on «Alice» once since its visual upgrade, so I can’t remember every single detail of the high-​tech features that the ride now includes. But here are some highlights from the ride:
Opening scene: You see Alice traveling «down, down, down» into the rabbit hole via projections (similar to the special effects in the «Winnie the Pooh» ride), which is more engaging since that’s one of the early sequences you encounter when the ride starts.
Flowers: I always liked the floral room because the part with the flowers (until they turned nasty) is one of my favorite scenes from the movie. This room has basically remained the same, but I always enjoy seeing the different types of flowers. And even though he’s not my favorite character, I enjoy seeing the Caterpillar blowing clouds of smoke (complete with special effects here).
Woods: I would say this room – where Alice is heartbroken in the woods before she stumbles across the «Merry Unbirthday» tea party – includes the most special effects. You see the fake rain, different lighting and various elements that seem to make this «woods» scene more enchanted.
The Queen of Hearts: I thought those Imagineers did a great job with this room. You get to see the roses on the trees being «painted» red, and this room overall just seems more vibrant and livelier than before. I also like the fact that you can see the hedgehog «travel» when it’s time for the king and queen to play croquet … and the hedgehog continues to travel until you go into the short outdoors section of the ride.
«Merry Unbirthday»: Even though the tea party didn’t happen at the end of the movie, I like this scene at the end of the ride because it makes «Alice» end on a happy note. You get to see all the elements of the «Merry Unbirthday» celebration, including the Mad Hatter, the hare and all the teacups, and a huge «unbirthday cake» explodes at the end of the ride in your honor. Definitely fitting as the conclusion of this ride.
«Alice» was never a ride that I’d go on over and over again, but seeing the special effects and redesigned details make this ride worth going on a second time for me. If you go on a day when the Park isn’t busy and are looking for a ride to go on, definitely check this one out if you haven’t been on it in years! You’ll be pleasantly surprised with the technological facelift.

Such a cute ride! I’m a sucker for anything Alice in wonderland themed, so I don’t mind waiting 45 minutes for this ride.
They did a few updates on the ride about a month ago, and it makes the ride feel a bit more «modern». They threw in a few visual effects that make the ride more interesting.
Its so perfectly decorated. I wouldn’t mind living in it haha.
Only downside of this ride are the impatient kids swinging on handrails. Makes me cringe when I see them touch the rails and bite their nails shortly after. Nooooo! Mom and dad please fix that.

Awesome preview of what is up and coming for future enhancements of the Fantasyland dark rides.
The recent refurbishment added one of my favorite effects: projection mapping. If you don’t already know what projection mapping is, it is an effect where a projection is projected onto an inanimate object and it makes it come to life! The other dark rides soon will be featuring this effect and I think it will be a nice touch on all rides.

Been awhile since you’ve gone down the rabbit hole? Then get yourself to Fantasyland and climb aboard a giant caterpillar because this dark ride was «plused» in some very good ways during the 2014 refurb!
There are some nice (subtle) enhancements to the exterior as a result of the Cal/​OSHA slap-down…but when you start down the rabbit hole you really notice the changes. There are many video enhancements including the spiraling video effects that emphasize the illusion that you are tumbling into the fantasy realm.
Also new… Alice is now a part of the ride… originally told from Alice’s point of view (meaning that you didn’t see her because you were seeing everything from her point of view), you will now find her in two scenes.
With all the enhancements, I think this may very well be my new favorite Fantasyland attraction… sorry Peter!

You just gotta love Alice in Wonderland! A Disney classic that will always be remembered. This is one of the smaller rides at Disneyland and quite cute if you ask me. The wait was around 10 – 13 minutes long.
Take a journey into the mind when Alice falls into the white rabbit’s hole and enters into a land that she never would fathom visiting. You’ll run into Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum, Catapilar, chesire Cat and of course the Queen of Hearts. Lots of twist and turns in this story book ride. My favorite part of the ride is the animation used throughout the ride and the moving characters. It’s located right in Fantasy Land right across from the Matter Horn Bob Sleds and the Story Book Land ride.

Alice in Wonderland is a super cute ride. With a recent refurbishment it got even better with all of the digital projections. If you loved it before the remodel I would say that the remodel only added to the ride and didn’t take away any of the classic moments in the ride.
This ride is a slow story-​telling ride meant for all ages that takes you on an adventure through the story of Alice in Wonderland.
One of my favorite additions from the refurbishment (Spoiler) is the red paint projections on the Painting the roses red part. It really adds a lot to the scene.

The Alice in Wonderland ride was recently refurbished at Disneyland and I decided to take a ride. The ride originally opened in 1958. The line this day was a little longer than most but it’s Fantasyland so I went ahead and got into it. The ride itself is a leisurely stroll through Wonderland. Alice follows the White Rabbit, goes down the hole and ends up meeting the Queen of Hearts. She even joins the Mad Hatter at his Unbirthday party.
There are some new projections since many of the scenes were digitally updated. The Cheshire Cat received some new special effects and the figure of Alice was added to the Tulgey Wood and Mad Party scenes. Some safety rails were also added to the second story track path. The ride is right next to the Mad Hatter Tea Cups in Fantasyland.
