I was seen at Dixon Eye Care for the first time. Upon arriving i was greeted and told to have a seat in the waiting area where the music was louder then I would have recommended. I was waiting for about 15 minutes and the receptionist took me back did the test and then had me have a seat in the waiting area again. I feel like she did the test just to make me feel like I wasn’t waiting for so long. About another 15 minutes later I was called back to the room. The Doctor came in and was very pleasant. I needed a change in my lenses but was happy with my frames and I wasn’t eligible for frames anyway. They kept asking if I wanted to look at frames while I was waiting. I was finally seen by someone to talk about my new lenses that they would be ordering and she was very short and sweet. Didn’t really seem like she wanted to be talking to me. She then asked for my payment and had a tone that made it seem like she didn’t think I would be able to pay for my co-pay. To me that is very rude and degrading. Upon paying my co-pay I had to ask when I would have my glasses back. I feel like that was something that should have been disclosed when I made my payment.

Well it’s the only place in the area that takes my sons insurance. So I made an appointment but it wasn’t for a month out because they were booked up. Ok fine. Went to the apointment. Filled out the paperwork. He saw the doctor. He was nice. My son needed new glasses. His insurance only covered small amount of the cost. And we are on a budget so couldn’t afford to out much $ towards it. So the lady basically made up his mind for him on the one he wanted. I didn’t really like that but since they were covered they are fine for now till we get different insurance and find a better place. We may go back for another exam but most likely will get the glasses elsewhere.

I chose this provider, as my insurance doesn’t cover a lot of places, it was close to work, and I don’t care for chain stores. The office is clean and the staff is overly friendly. The person who assisted me confused her terms, materials fee vs fitting fee(difference in who pays what). No sense of urgency. Told them when I made the appointment, it was on my lunch break. When I declined to answer all these new regulated questions, I got a bit of an attitude about it. It’s still my right to decline. They had to contact my previous provider(of over 20 years) to get my prescription, in the interest of time and accuracy. After a week, I still hadn’t received a call to order my lenses. Upon follow-up, that I initiated, they hadn’t received the information and no one had bothered to call and request the information again. After all, they faxed it once and they always go through, right? They actually tried to place blame on the other provider; way to accept responsibility. Go to pick up the order. Had to confirm some information because they didn’t relay that information when they left a message to confirm my lenses had been ordered. I had to ask for a copy of what I was paying for, as the payment slip was just the total and their business name. I was supposed to get a copy of my prescription and had to ask for that too. It wasn’t ready because the doctor wasn’t in. She asked me to come back. Really??? She’s mailing it instead. Considering they are in a professional office building, I would have expected more consideration to those who work for a living and don’t have the luxury of just hanging out. There customer service truly could use some work. I will definitely be looking for another provider. Extremely disappointed. The office has small office appeal, but acts like a big city office without personality.

Have been to this place three different times over the last couple of years. I moved to Sacramento a few years back and tried a local eye place that I hated. I have been driving back to Dixon just to get my eyes checked because I really like this place. Great selection of glasses to choose from as well.
