My wife and I came to Herrera’s to celebrate my birthday last fall while visiting Mt. Airy for the weekend. We had no idea what to expect but when we walked in we were immediately impressed by the decorations and the friendliness of the staff, especially our waitress, America. First, we split the Duck Wings and Vegetable Medley appetizers, which were excellent. I had a glass of Solera which was very smooth. For dinner my wife wanted to keep it light and the staff was very accommodating making up a special Apple Salad with Grilled Chicken that she loved. I went in the other direction and had the New York Strip, medium rare that was cooked just right. Since it was a birthday they treated us to a small cake on the house that we had with our coffee. We had a great night and were raving about Herrera’s the whole weekend while we were in the area. If we get back in the Mt. Airy vicinity we would definitely go back again.

Wow! Great place. The wine tasting was relaxed and took some time, unlike most places that rush you through. The restaurant was awesome– great tasting food reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit.

Came here upon recommendation from Frog Holler Cabins, where we were staying. Did not disappoint one bit! The food(I had scallops) was delicious! Destiny, our waitress, was incredible. She made great wine recommendations and was very knowledgeable. She even helped us celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday with a complimentary dessert. We asked her for directions back to our cabin as GPS wasnt helpful at all and she went so far as to draw us a map! We would love to come back and told everyone we met how great it was there!

This is a beautiful little place in Dobson, NC right off of Hwy 601. The place used to be another vineyard named Black Wolf but was purchased by the new owner and replanted. If I am not mistaken it is the only vineyard owned by a Mexican-American in North Carolina. The winemaker Kevin Childress is a local graduate from Surry Community College, so he has an extra motivation to do well so close to the school. The building and grounds provide a beautiful setting to sample some wine or to enjoy a meal as there is a pretty good restaurant there as well. We decided to sample the entire list while there and to be honest weren’t really blown away with the wines yet. perhaps they will need some time to find the perfect formula for their terroir. The meal that we enjoyed here was much better. She enjoyed some beef medallions over some gorgonzola risotto. It was a super dish, as beef and cheese always makes a great combination. I decided to go with the bison burger with sweet potato fries. Another great decision! Another positive aspect was that everyone with which we came in contact was super friendly and helpful. I will certainly return to Herrera Vineyards next year to see how the newest vintage stacks up and to see if the wines are better.

Can’t say enough about how good the food was at the restaurant. It felt very«farm to table» and it was a well thought out seasonally inspired menu. 5 stars for the meal at the restaurant: We had a large group so we ordered the following plates… Vegetable Medley plate — consisted of root vegetables — perfectly prepared and I am still dreaming of this dish. Fig pizza, Shrimp and Grits, Crab Cakes — everything was so tasty. My hubby ordered the Cuban sandwich — it wasn’t bad, but didn’t compare to everything else. The service in the restaurant was great and the atmosphere was really nice. Felt like an Italian vineyard except there was College football on the TV. 2 stars for the wine: We did the wine tasting after we ate our meal and was disappointed in the wines. Not sure if we were blown away with the meal that it just couldn’t compete. It didn’t help that the staff that did the tasting didn’t give any insight to any the wines and didn’t appear to really want to be there. The other reviews talk about how good the wines are — so maybe we will have to try it again. It was a rainy day so we didn’t get to enjoy sitting outside — but there are multiple places to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. Beautiful grounds! All in all — I am a fan.(4 stars)

Food, check! Atmosphere, check! Great staff, check! View, check! Indoor /outdoor seating, check! Can’t forget the wine… Excellent selection. Hard to choose a favorite, but went with the tannat. Had lunch and a tasting on a weekday, and pretty much had the place to ourselves. Will definitely be back.

The atmosphere is amazing, the food is delicious and I can never seem to leave without a bottle of sangria. This is a place where my family and I will be regulars. Dining inside the beautiful restaurant or outside under a tree having a picnic. Just writing about it makes me want to go back.

The wine is amazing and the sangria slushy is really good! My favorite is the Mac and cheese balls and the risotto
