Legitimately the BEST turtle soup I’ve ever had. They’re always super busy, but their service is great and the food is to die for. We drive in from Baton Rouge, and it’s totally worth the trip. I wish they’d open a location in BR, but I think I’d have a weight problem. I also love their bread pudding — it’s hard, but try to save room for dessert! I’ve never been disappointed with anything I’ve ordered there — you can’t go wrong with grapevine. Also, go check out the building history on their website. Pretty neat!

I’ve been here several times, ordered something different everytime, and the meals never disappoint. It is a little pricey but we always leave with a to go box for a second meal. The bread pudding is out of this world! You cannot come here and skip out on the bread pudding!

Best Shrimp and Crab gumbo to ever enter my mouth! Exquisite! No seasonings needed. Great texture and rue. Also enjoyed an absolutely delicious Shrimp and Corn Bisque. Like buttery gravy… oh and don’t forget to try the zesty Pecan Crusted Shrimp. Service was slow but the food and ambience more than made up for the wait.

This place is a gem in the middle of slim pickings for lunch and a great stop on your way to tour plantations. Great selections of regional Cajun cuisine and fried fish with side dishes. Definitely will be back. It’s packed but they seat you quickly! Very nice and professional staff.

I eat at the Grapevine very often. I have never had a bad meal. The Turtle soup is outstanding. The crawfish cornbread is another good dish. If you leave before trying the White Choc bread pudding you’ve missed one of the best desserts around. A friendly staff and a great owner. The Grapevine is a Must if you are in the area. If not… it is truly worth the drive.

Wow. Who knew? A lunch that rivals anything for similar price in New Orleans or Baton Rouge. A native of the area recommended Grapevine to me when I mentioned I was to be in Donaldsonville on business. What a gift that recommendation turned out to be. In addition to being a down right charming environment, the restaurant offers a very thoughtful menu that blends the best traditions of coastal Louisiana and Deep South cuisine. A great deal of seafood is offered, and it appears to be chosen not only with local tastes in mind but fresh availability as well. My companions and I all chose the catch of the day, Redfish, but each of us ordered it prepared differently. I don’t recall all details, but I do know that one of us had it stuffed with crab, another topped with crawfish étouffée. «Divine.» That was the report from all diners. Mine in particular was grilled perfectly. Tender and moist, the taste and texture surely implied that it was fresh off the boat. Side items included smothered okra and warm potato salad, both outstanding in their own right. A crisp, almost delicate green salad preceded the entrees, mine with the house vinaigrette which was light and lovely. Service was efficient and pleasant amid the bustling lunch crowd. It’s unusual for me to be in Donaldsonville, so I wouldn’t ever have thought to look this place up. Now, I most likely will make a return trip exclusively to dine at Grapevine.

OK, I showed up in support of fellow Elite Re H. She had an art show/opening on 12/21…2d time there and I decided to eat a bit o’ a meal… Hanging with Re I met Cynthia the owner and head chef… she’s a delite and the food she sends out of the kitchen is OUTSTANDING!!! Re you’re art is lovely but I could afford the meal, went with an appetizer of Oysters Grapevine… think Shrimp Scampi but with Oysters!!! And a big loaf of fresh French bread… Those oysters cooked in that garlic and butter sauce and crusted with Parmesan cheese!!! Oh my Lord they were delicious then take that bread and sop up the juice that’s left over… it’s a meal unto itself!!! But no I had to go with the entrée, ordered the Cajun Surf & Turf… Shrimp and Tasso over linguiini in a cream sauce!!! My God if I could a found a preacher I woulda tried to marry that dish!!! The waitress brought it out in a bowl so damn big I asked her if she was trying to feed the North Korean army… the shrimp were juicy, plump and flavorful, the Tasso was salty, meaty and a perfect balance to the shrimp and the cream sauce!!! I couldn’t eat all of it but DAMMIT I tried!!! Got the leftovers in a doggie bag but my dog will never see it cause I’m heating it up for lunch!!! After all that, you wanna bit o’ class off the beaten path take a little trip to Donaldsonville and enjoy some good eating, some great service and a few stiff drinks… I will be back for a 3d time!!! Prices are reasonable and the food is great!!! Branch out and act like you discovered it… I won’t tell!!!
