Évaluation du lieu : 3 Miami, FL
Franktitude is a Miami-based mini-chain conceived by a Chilean businessman. A large LCD monitor flashes continual images of hipsters enjoying their hot dogs, and a large mural conveys the same idea. The menu also includes grilled chicken, and a few cold-cuts. The hot dogs toppings, sausages, chicken and cold-cuts are also available combined with lettuce in the form of wraps, bowls, and panini. Soups are available too, so if one of your group detests hot dogs, he can put together a soup & sandwich lunch. The regular hot dogs themselves are all-beef, NY/kosher-style, garlicky, skinless and about 1⁄8 pound, and are heated on a roller grill, like in a 7 – 11. Also available are extra-long dogs, veggie dogs, turkey dogs and knackwurst. The rolls are indifferent. This place is all about the toppings, not surprisingly considering its Latin American heritage(South Americans’ hot dogs are dressed quite a bit differently then what we in the USA are accustomed to). There are always at least a dozen different fruits and vegetables, etc., to choose from. If you can’t make up your mind, there are several named hot dogs for which they have chosen the topping combinations. I had a plain, with mustard. The staff member proceeded to apply a beautiful squiggle of mustard to the ‘dog. Unfortunately, it was about a ¼ cup! Way too much. Be sure to keep an eye on what they are doing, and specify quantities. I also had a Chili-Cheese Dog, which comes with chili, shredded cheese, diced onions and a cheese sauce. The chili was mild, but tasty. It had kidney beans in it, which many will find inappropriate for a chili dog. The french fries were poor. They were hard, dry, and at little above room temperature. I threw them out. They probably had been sitting under a heat lamp. The staff was very friendly. Summary: The basic hot dog is average. Grilled or flame-cooked would add some more personality. A steamed roll, preferably with poppy seeds, would be better. This place is all about the toppings, and unusual imitation«hot dog» choices. Be precise in your ordering, and insist on freshly-cooked french fries, and you will do OK. ***THISLOCATIONHASCLOSED*** Try: 11401NW12 St(Dolphin Mall)
