Hidden gem in Doral! When you see lots of Asians eating in a hole in the wall Asian restaurant, you know the food is good! When there is a secret menu in a second language you couldn’t even begin to understand, you know the food is amazing. I was brought here by a co-worker that just happened to walk by this place in a nearby strip mall. He thought we should go check it out, and we were not disappointed. The young girl who helped us place our order was very helpful when reviewing the menu. She walked us through each dish and gave us her recommendations. There is also a dish that was«rated #1» by CNN. I didn’t have a chance to try the shallot picadillo, but I will be back for it. I opted for the kung po chicken. I went with medium spice, and I loved it. It had a nice flavor to it, and was complimented with a side of vegetables. It took a little long to get the food, but that’s because each dish it made to order. Oh, and I forgot to mention. The prices are extremely affordable. My entire lunch came out to about $ 8. See you soon, Red Shallot.

This place has authentic Asian flavors!!! Luckily I found this awesome restaurant from other Unilocal reviews. I had the chicken curry today and it definitely hit the spot. It had the right amount of spices and heat. The owner is super friendly and is passionate about his cooking. The prices are very reasonable, the service is warm and friendly, the portions are large and the flavor is just right. I’ll definitely be back!!!

Amazing little joint hidden in Doral. I highly recommend you try it! So far I’ve had their sweet and sour soup, tomato beef stew, shallot picadillo, Kong po chicken, chicken niblets, and amazing edamame(they flavor it differently). All the food is flavorful and well prepared. Staff is very friendly, what more could you ask for?! Notice most people order take-out but they also provide seating inside the place. Will be coming here often.

This place is amazing! Really good dishes and it’s a quaint little spot. Very mom and pops style, felt like I had not had Asian Fusion this fresh and msg free in a while. Definitely coming back again and again and again :) oh and try their chicken nibblets, crispy and fresh.

Whenever we want some Authentic Taiwanese food, we would stop by this location. The chicken niblets are alway crispy and fresh. All the food are devious and made with no MGOs. Each entrée comes with two sides of vegetable and tofu. Great balance of nutrition and flavor. If you want take out, I would like to suggest you order it 20 minutes ahead as they prepare their food from scratch.

Just wow! This is the best takeout joint I have ever had the pleasure of walking into. Not big enough to have a lunchin at but the food was top notch for the price. If you need some take out try this place. Good portions, freshly prepared food. As another review mentioned the owner, when I walked in he was chatting with customers. He welcomed me and explained how he created the menu as I perused it. Offered me samples and sugestions. Probably the most welcome I have ever felt in a resturant, yet alone a little hole in yhe wall takeout place. Also very clean, will defenitly be back!

Hidden gem. Everything we ate was delicious. From the chicken niblets to Kung Po chicken. The egg rolls were great also, very tasty and very fresh. The steamed dumpling great! The dishes come with a side of asian style veggies and a small side of steamed pumpkin. Looking foward to doing lunch there again. Bill the chef/owner also brought our a piece of their roasted pork to try. Which I must say was very very flavorful and made by someone who loves what he does.

For those of you who follow my reviews, you know how much I gripe about Miami being a pretty awful place for Asian food, but sometimes I come across an exception to this. Not only are the owners of Red Shallot making excellent food, they do it with a passion that is so hard to find. Upon my first arrival Bill, one of the owners, came out of the kitchen and had me sample a few of his awesome dishes. When he learned that I know a thing or two about cooking and food in general, he got excited. This is truly a man who loves what he does and loves to share it. And I don’t mean the way that certain chefs talk about how much time and effort they put into something and how great they are for making it, he talks about the food and flavors themselves and not about himself. There’s a lot to choose from on the menu, but there’s also a whole lot to choose from on the chalkboard. Too bad I can’t read it! That’s OK, I just ask what they want me to try this time and I haven’t been steered wrong yet! Things like the pork belly, curry stew, or three cup chicken. Things you will have to ask for because it’s not on paper, but they are a must try! As others have mentioned this is primarily take out, but I highly suggest eating in and talking to the owners, they are so nice to talk to that you’ll want to come back. Often.

First of all, customer service is amazing once you open that door. Second the place is super clean. Third the food is yummy! It is legit Taiwanese food. I am speechless how tasty the food is. I feel like I am back in NYC where the best food is in small places. I will obviously come back… In fact, while writing this review I feel like going to get some food. you must try!

So this is review is mostly about the food, and that is why I scored so high. Food: Chicken niblets: I’ve had this in teriyaki house in orlando and i swore that they would be the best… this place totally won it for me. It was well seasoned, it was crispy and crunchy while maintaining the the juiciness of the meat. Fried pork chop: Cam with rice, pickled cabbage, cold potato carrot slaw, chinese cabbage, and a «lu dan»(egg). The pork cutlet flavors took me back to taiwan. It was a walk back to memory lane when I went to visit. House Eggrolls: This was super tasty, crunchy, moist and i can tast they used shrimp and pork and gave you a vietnamese style fish sauce to go with it. Only complaint was it was a little on the greasy side. Beef tomato Stew Came with the same stuff as the pork chop rice, the beef was super tender and the tomato stew was well seasoned, it was like the taste of eating a traditional chinese tomato egg dish. For westerners almost like tomato bisque type texture and it went great with the rice. Service/ambiance: It is a take out place. So seating is like bar tops and stools, reminds me of taiwan’s night market(it’s all food and seating arrangement is very similar to this place. Seats no more than 8 people at one time. Good for grab n go, or quick lunch. Not a place for a party. The service is super friendly, the owner treated us as if he was inviting friends into his home. Super passionate about spreading awareness on taiwanese culture through his food, and the guys sincerely loves what he do. Prices are very affordable. I would drive from parkland(the city just south of boca raton) to go back to eat here. The food is a 5 stars the only feedback is wish there was more of a dining area.

Wow wow wow! So I walk in and am immeadiately greeted with a warm and friendly welcome. I am offered free samples of the delicious entrees until my taste buds are absolutely ROCKED by the«Shallot Piccadillo». I instanly decide to order this as my meal. For less than 7 dollars, a nice little meal is prepared with my entrée, rice, potato salad, veggies, specialty chinese harboiled egg, and some yummy garnishes. I’m in heaven and order some extra to take to go! The customer service was just as amazing. These are such friendly people that it just made me feel all fuzzy inside. Will definitely be coming back

This is the most authentic Taiwanese restaurant in all of South Florida. The location is more geared to take-out(though there’s room to sit, and the décor is pleasant) but the owner clearly takes pride in how fresh the food is and how true to its origins the food is. If you’re looking for run of the mill take-out Chinese with food coloring and MSG, this isn’t it. We were a group of 5 and ordered a couple of appetizers and 4 – 5 main dishes, and our bill was under $ 60.

Thanks to fellow Unilocaler Krys P.‘s recommendation, I now have a new place for lunch on Mondays. I normally go to places like Micky D’s, Taco«Hell» or Wendy’s for lunch on Mondays. I know it’s not healthy but I did it out of convenience. But since this place is practically in the plaza next to Wendy’s, I guess I am running out of excuses! It’s located in a small plaza not too far from my office. Traffic in Doral,(especially around NW87th Ave and NW25 St.) has been a nightmare with all the road construction going on. But luckily I was able to get there by taking the back streets. The place is located in a small plaza off the NW25th street. There are parking spaces but they are rather small which makes a bit hard to get in and out. But the store sign was large and visible so you still can find it without any difficulties. The restaurant is primary for take out but they do have a few bar stools where you can dine in. The menu items are pretty simple, but maybe its because they just started the business. Right off the bat I saw my favorite Taiwanese dish: Fried Pork Chop rice, so I decided to go with it today. The pork chop was fried Taiwanese style with very traditional Taiwanese batter, spices and flavors. It was nice, crispy and juicy, and tasted pretty authentic to me. For $ 7.90 it comes with a generous portion of fried pork chop, with two sides of vegetables and a sliced Chinese marinated egg. Perhaps a bit expensive in my book, but its Miami so I am still okay with it. Besides, you do get a lot of food in the box so I still think its worth it. I didn’t get the chance to speak to the couple who run the place, but they seem very nice and friendly. Since I enjoyed my lunch very much today, I will go back to try their other dishes next Monday.

Last week I mentioned to a Taiwanese friend about visiting a Taiwanese restaurant in Orlando, and enjoying all the dishes we miss in Miami. She told me that there is actually a Taiwanese restaurant right in Doral! The couple owning the restaurant is very nice. Bill, the chef, is a Taiwanese who moved here from New York. We were offered a sample of their popcorn chicken(chicken niblets). One bite and I’m hooked. Hot off the stove, it’s crispy on the outside, redolent of spice, and juicy and tender inside. A much better specimen than the one I tried in Orlando. Definitely we’re ordering one to go! The menu is rather limited; nothing really exotic, some of the dishes, like tomato beef stew, fried pork chop, teriyaki chicken, will look and taste familiar enough to non-adventurous eaters. Most dishes are served with rice(choice of white or brown) and some cooked veggies and pickles. I would prefer the pickles to have stronger flavor, but it really seems like Red Shallot is trying to please the mainstream here. An understandable move to build up business first. However, don’t discount this place as another Chinese take out! The food here tastes fresh and home-made, without MSG or artificial color. When I discussed this with Bill, he mentioned that he does hope to expand and eventually offer more dishes. He has been experimenting with different dishes which he listed on the blackboard in Chinese, such as the ba wan(jelly meatball) which sadly was not on the menu that day, and the marinated beef shank. In the coming months he plans to add beef noodle, vermicelli, three cup chicken and pork belly rice — all famous Taiwanese dishes. I can see this becoming one of my favorite lunch spot in Doral!

The is a pleasant gem of a take out/restaurant. It’s tucked inside a small strip center across from the police station on NW25th Street. The are no tables, only two small bars against the windows. Wonderful Taiwanese dishes are their specialty. The deep fried pork chops and the chicken pieces are done in a way only Taiwanese people know how. The batter is soft and lightly seasoned and the meat is in its tender perfection and not dry. The taste is nothing big, but just right, not over spiced at all. The beef stew is genuinely cooked from scratch for hours in low heat. The end result was that the beef(shank meat) melted in your mouth. I am looking forward to go there again to try more dishes. One more thing, it is very inexpensive as well.

I’m being generous with the stars, but this is an authentic Taiwanese restaurant in miami. Possibly the only one? On that reason alone there should be some star inflation. But it really is deserving! The menu is limited and mostly consists of fried foods, but the owners are very very good at deep frying the Taiwanese way. The fried chicken niblets are better than most food stalls in Taiwan. I love that they added basil leaves — keeping it authentic! While I do wish there were just a couple more non fried items on the menu, I do commend the owners on focusing on what they know. And they really know how to make authentic Taiwanese fried pork chops and chicken niblets. Yum!!! The location is kind of random but is easy to access and away from much of the doral traffic. Not much ambience but it’s clean.

Awesome Taiwanese food! This place definitely has a homegrown feel to it. The owner Bill is great and very friendly. It’s the only place in Miami where I can get Taiwanese popcorn chicken!

If you’re tired of the typical Chinese take out this is THE place to go. The food is closer to traditional Asian cooking yet has a unique twist! I tried the pineapple shrimp fried rice, and even though it sounds strange it tasted very good. The miso soup have real chunks of tofu instead of the small cubes you see in normal Chinese/Asian restaurants. They have options if you’re vegetarian as well. Even if you want regular fried rice with chicken, it still tastes better than whatever else is in the area of Doral. They have a special offer since they just opened so you can get a free soda! The food is also cheaper compared to the surrounding Asian take out places.

This is a new opening in Doral. They are right around the corner from where I work so I ran out to give them a try based on a recommendation from a coworker. It is a small whole in the wall. They have a counter you could eat at but it really is a take out place and I believe that they will offer delivery soon as well. The menu is an Asian Fusion style menu. When I walked in the person at the counter, who I took to be an owner, was very friendly and gave me some recommendations on their menu. I went with the Kung Pao Chicken as I love spicy food. I was pleasantly surprised that the chicken definitely had a nice kick to it. I get irritated when places claim that a dish is spicy yet, lacks any spice at all. This dish definitely did not let me down and had my taste-buds tingling. I also ordered a miso soup which was pretty good. The chicken came with rice and mixed vegetables. The owner also gave me a few slices of their roast pork to try in my meal. Overall, they offered good food, for a decent price, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back again to try other options from their menu.
