Good selection of CV grogues(basically agricole rums distilled from sugar cane juice), and ponche(a rum liqueur made from grogue). Another store you can sometimes get grogue and ponche is Jerry’s Liquors in Somerville. CV Liquors is the only place I know of in the Boston side of the river though.

Both of the previous reviews are fair and accurate. The beer selection is relatively comprehensive for a store of this size and can usually satisfy my needs for anything from malt liquor(Private Stock and Steel Reserve are favorites) to ‘fancier’ offerings like Long Trail and Sierra Nevada. I’d love to see a better selection of craft beer but I realize that there is limited interest in such things in this neighborhood. There are many bargains to be found in the front of the store, with dozens of Portuguese reds priced at around $ 5 to $ 7 a bottle. Many of these are very basic table wines, but I’ve found a few that are a notch above. The selection of Vinho Verde in the chilled wine section is second to none. In case you are unfamiliar with these, they are young Portuguese whites, very light and refreshing, and best when drunk very cold. Perfect for summer and almost too drinkable, most run for only $ 5 a bottle. The ‘wine cellar’ in the back of the store has many well chosen vintages, and the free tastings on Saturdays from about 5 to 7 are not to be missed. Wines are paired with great bread and cheese(and sometimes chicken or fish) from Laura’s next door. Best of all is owner Arlindo Correia, who is very knowledgeable and passionate about wine. Be sure to ask him for recommendations.

F.C. is right – you wouldn’t guess from the outside that this place has a nice wine selection. I waited nearly a year to stop in. When you walk in, it’s pretty cramped, and the liquor and beer fridge are what you see. But walk back a bit and you’ll find a nice wine selection. The owner talked to me about my selection and seemed knowledgeable. Wine isn’t an afterthought here. He invited me back to their weekly wine tastings on Saturdays(4 to 7pm, I believe). I won’t wait another year to return, that’s for sure.

Great neighborhood package store. Decent beer selection. It’s hard to tell from the outside, but this place actually has an extensive and pretty darn good wine selection. Go through the store towards the back, up a few steps, and there’s a small wine cellar. The owner really loves wine and puts a lot of thought into carrying a selection of good wines at extremely reasonable prices. Very nice owners, too. Once the gentleman shorted us on change by a dollar. We didn’t even notice, but the next week when we went back he gave us the dollar. This place is a little hidden gem.
