My wife and I wanted to get out of the city for a little peace and quiet in Vermont. We looked around and found Marble West to be a nice prospect. We took the Peak Room, which is in the front of the house with an incredible view of the mountains. There is a great field across the street with a red barn on the far edge. The sunset was really beautiful with golden light hitting the mountains. It was off season, so we had the place to ourselves. The Inn’s chef, Kelly, was there to greet us and answered any questions we had about the area and asked when we wanted breakfast the next morning. She was very hospitable and left us alone in the house for the night. What a beautiful Inn. Its an old 1800’s Inn, with all the New England charm and history. It also is very artful, with beautiful contemporary drawing, painting and photography throughout the rooms. In the Peak Room there is a great claw footed tub right next to a window with a view of the mountains. Sitting in the tub transports you back to simpler times when a hot bath and beautiful view were all that were required to relax. The downstairs rooms have great bookshelves loaded with a wide variety of books and magazines. The room comes with a very competent little gas stove to keep the room toasty in colder months. We came in late April, and it dropped into the 30s at night, so we were especially cozy in our very comfortable king size bed, with great reading material. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Kelly gave us a couple of options, goat cheese omelette was one, blueberry pancakes another. There was a third, I think cheddar omelette too. We opted for the blueberry pancakes and were very happy. Everything is locally farmed, the bacon was amazing. Coffee was great. Everything fresh and of the best quality. Danielle, the owner of the Inn came by also to have breakfast in the dining room we were in and had a nice conversation about art and their artist retreat they also operate down the road. We had a nice walk around the property after breakfast and were on our way. We will definitely be back. We went on to explore as much as we could of the area. The Green Mountains are incredible, we found a beautiful lake to hike around, Lefferts Pond. Its a beautiful lake, pond isn’t really representative. We ended up going up as far as Rutland and then down Rt 7 to the Berkshires below in Massachusetts. Then back to Brooklyn from there. We plan another visit to the area with a longer stay at Marble West. We strongly recommend a few day stay here at the very least.

My family and I stayed at the Marble West Inn for a long New Years Eve last weekend. Connie, the innkeeper, was so warm and gracious ~ we felt right at home. The Inn is beatifully decorated, the beds are very spacious and comfortable and all the bathrooms are updated. The breakfasts were delicious and there was even a beautiful spread of savory snacks out for cocktail hour. Thanks Connie for a wonderful stay and we look forward to vising Dorset again very soon!

Stayed here for an ‘off-season’ weekend away. The place is nice and homey – country décor but nothing over the top. We stayed in the«Birch Suite,» which has a cool spa shower and a big comfy bed. The Inn itself is in a pretty secluded area, but it’s a short drive to Manchester and to hiking spots. Breakfast time was flexible and breakfast itself was delicious! Friendly and helpful innkeepers, too.
