Dobb’s bbq pork sandwich is tasty. The potato salad was horrible. Dining area is large and servers are friendly.

A nice and friendly mom-and-pop barbecue restaurant. We were visiting from out of town and my boyfriend was interested in trying some authentic southern pulled pork– he thought it was great. The sandwich portion size was large enough to where he didn’t even need to order a side. I don’t eat meat, but the sweet tea was on point and I appreciated the meatless alternatives on the menu. I also had to try«Mrs. Dobb’s Homemade Strawberry Shortcake,» which did not disappoint! Probably the best I’ve ever had. Restaurant décor is a little dated inside, but it feels homey and welcoming. The wait staff was super polite and showed us some real Southern Hospitality!

Solid BBQ. Take the house sauce and heat it up with the homemade hot sauce. Perfect. Sliced smoked pork was perfectly done and well smoked. Very traditional with chopped slaw and a soft roll.

I would give it one star but the Camp Stew was really good! Ordered the pork plate, the texture was mush and the BBQ sauce was pretty bland. I don’t know how this place has been in business for so long?

Camp stew is good. They also make the best chocolate shakes in the area. But this place always seems a little dirty and the fries are horrible. My dad claims it’s the best hamburger steak in Dothan. But the gravy is packaged store bought gravy. Too bad their bbq isn’t so great. Dothan could use a good local bbq joint.

This is a great mom and pop place. Incredible BBQ, great staff and good prices. Must stop on the road to the beach!

Terrible and unimpressive. Not at all what it was when I was a kid. Please don’t patronize this awful place. The best thing I can say about them is they have a nice location useful for luring in traffic bound for Panama City.

Really really poor. Started with our seat near a window. When we pulled the blinds up there were about 20 dead flies. I got a combination plate. The pulled pork and beef weren’t horrible but the ribs were. Their sauce ruined everything it touched. I really wanted to like this place but it would take a lot of money to get me to eat there again.

Dobbs is an old fashioned BBQ restaurant that may look a bit dated on the surface, but serves some solid southern BBQ that is worth the stop. I had the sandwich platter with the coleslaw, it was well cooked and the slaw was some of the best I’ve had. My girlfriend had ribs which were also cooked well and fell right off the bone. I will admit, it wasn’t the best BBQ I’ve ever had but it was delicious and the establishment itself was quaint and interesting for a New Yorker who was passing though. Service was top notch and the place was pretty clean. Be sure to get the sweet tea! It’s great.

Second time eating at Dobbs. Walking into Dobbs is like a step back in time. The décor hasn’t been updated in decades, but it’s very clean and neat. This is part of the charm– if you aren’t looking for that sort of thing go somewhere else. The service is excellent. They bring you a pitcher of both water and sweet tea as soon as you sit down, sometimes before they take your actual drink order. The sweet tea is heavenly, I’m convinced it has rejuvenating powers. Your server will likely be very polite and attentive, as well as knowledgeable. They will keep those pitchers full as long as you’re seated, and you won’t have to wait long at all for your food. I got the bbq sandwich plate, which came with french fries and a choice of slaw or beans. The beans were my choice and were perfection. I wolfed them down. My buddy got the slaw and said it was very fresh and tasty. A few minutes later our food came out. The sandwiches are massive and so tasty. Sweet and tangy bbq sauce on pulled pork. I usually have good portion control and wouldn’t have eaten a large sandwich like this in one go, but I was done eating everything in 10 – 15 minutes. The sandwich came with fries which were also very tasty, if they came from a frozen bag they were of high quality. I doubt they had been frozen though. Mmmmm. The bbq sauce also compliments the sweet tea very well, I highly recommend choosing it as your beverage. My fiancé and her friend got the bbq ribs plate, which was also very tasty. The meat literally slides off the bone, these are ribs done right. The table will also have extra bbq sauce and home made hot sauce ready for you. We didn’t have room for desert unfortunately. But the food was excellent. The last time I came here I ordered an additional sandwich to eat for dinner on the road. I was too full this time. I sort of think that people who don’t enjoy the food here are simply turned off by the old timey décor and need to pay more attention to what their taste buds are saying. Dobbs is good stuff!

Oh my goodness. This is a must on our vacation agenda when we travel south. I love their chipped pork sandwich with a baked potato and cole slaw. YUM! Pair it with a sweet tea and you’re good to go. The restaurant itself is old and not updated, yet that totally adds to the experience! The waitresses are always extremely friendly and the pies are totally delicious. Don’t be scared by the exterior of the place because what’s inside is absolutely amazing!

There is really only 3 reasons to go to Dobbs: Camp Stew, Chipped BBQ, and Strawberry Shortcake. The Camp Stew is the best stew you will ever have! I am surprised it is not on the Top 100 things to try in Alabama before you die because I have never had anything like it. The BBQ is only good when it is chipped and mixed in with the sauce. The sauce is unique as it seems to be ketchup based and in some way has worchestershire sauce in it. I eat BBQ a lot and I’ve never had anything like it. Dobbs makes their own Strawberry Shortcake in the restaurant. Only order these things from Dobbs because nothing else is that good. In fact, I would highly recommend carryout because the restaurant is usually not clean, no atmosphere, and probably has the same booths and chairs and tables from 1946 when it first opened. It really needs a remodeling or an update. Beside those items I mentioned that are outstanding, it really isn’t all that good. That’s why I gave it a 3-star because they do those things really well… but the restaurant and everything else is just not good.

Friendly staff and decent service, but the food was not good. Not sure what happened to this bbq restaurant. We ate here about 8 years ago and loved it. Decided to stop in today on our drive through Dothan for Thanksgiving holiday with family. Should have kept driving.

Good Q… good stew. Always lots of locals eating here which tell ya something. Had a great pork sandwich. Also had a stuffed baked potato. A baked potato stuffed with BBQ pork? How could that be bad. Lol!

This is hands down the worst bbq I have ever eaten. I was suckered in by their brilliant«world famous» sign. This was one of my greatest mistakes to date. Their brisket tasted like processed off brand bologna. Their«special» stew tasted like third world baby food, and their sauce just didn’t make any sense at all.

Filthy filthy filthy. It’s dangerous to eat there. See pics. They boast 100 years of BarBeque. Well they must got a good deal on meat 100 years ago they are still serving it.

I stopped here after seeing billboards for 100+ year old BBQ joint. I was driving from destin to Atlanta & really looking forward to some good BBQ. Next time I’ll read the Unilocal reviews before spending $ 9 on a plate. The coleslaw was right out of a vat delivered by the cisco truck, the bread was a $.20 Hawaiian role– nothing to write home about. The stew was good, but I wouldn’t call that Brunswick stew, might be personal preference. Now I can forgive all the above flaws for some seriously good pulled pork & sauce, but one bite of this & I knew there was no redeeming qualities. It tastes like they had putt Great Value ketchup & a cup of white vinegar & called it a day. Service was the only good thing about this BBQ joint.
