I had my vehicle tinted at Rock Bottom which I have a receipt showing the price as well as 35% VLT. However, when moving into a state which performs annual inspections, to my surprise my window tint failed and so did my inspection. Alabama law requires a minimum 32%VLT, North Carolina requires 35%, but will accept 32%VLT. My car would not pass inspection with what was supposed to have been 35%VLT. It actually turned out to be 24%VLT. That means that if other cars being done using the tint that was put on mine in Alabama, they will not meet the minimum requirement you will be issued a citation for your Window Tint being too dark and it will have to be removed. I have pictures to show the evidence of which I am speaking of. Perhaps it was a miss communication with the crew but the fact that I have a receipt stating the Visible Light Transmission being 35% is erroneous at best, not to mention against Alabama Law, that receipt is what you have to fall back on should you get stopped by a police officer, otherwise if you request a lower VLT percentage the shop is not allowed to issue you a receipt of the window tint being performed. I’ve had to remove all the tint just to pass inspection in order to renew my license plate. I paid out $ 200.00 to have it tinted, and I will have to pay $ 300.00 here for another shop to remove all the adhesive that the old window tint left behind, plus re-tint it to legal limits. I would like a refund of the $ 200.00 spent as it was not legal in Alabama where I had the car tinted in the first place. As mentioned I have evidence to back up my claim, and my next step is to contact the BBB. If I hear no response from Rock Bottom I will seek legal advice on the matter. Rock Bottom should you read this please send me an email( ) so that I may show you the evidence of the tint being too dark and the receipt and date that you performed the job. I am hopeful that we can come to some agreement on this matter. I don’t want to bad mouth you guys, the tint itself you did a great job on! It just wasn’t legal limit VLT% for Alabama and most U.S. States. 24%VLT is what it tested at on three different window tint photometers, two state inspection stations, and my own photometer. Respectfully, Brandon
