Garbage. Definitely not south fl. Cuban food. The bread is hard, the pastries sit all day You can get a better Cuban sandwich at Puerto Rican Willies.

The Cuban is huge and tasty — not the best I’ve ever had but definitely worth the $ 7.50. The side of sweet plantains were prepared perfectly and enjoyable as well. What I absolutely LOVED here though was the guava and cheese and the coconut pastries. They were wonderfully flaky and just the right amount of sweet without being too much. The exterior is a little offputting(those big dark doors are sort of intimidating), and the interior isn’t much better. The slideshow of the menu on the wall is amusing, and the service was a bit lackluster during our visit here. Takeout is probably the way to go, rather than dining in as the ordering/seating process is reminiscent of a mall food court and may not appeal to many people(including myself). However, the food is definitely worth a try and one of the better options in the area.

As a Cuban I was disappointed. I write this with great pain, and I hope whoever reads this gives them a try also. Maybe your experience might be better than mine. I read all the reviews before coming here, and I wonder if I went to the right place. I cannot honestly say I went to the same place the others reviewers went. Nothing matched from what I read. I’m only writing this as a constructive criticism to the owners. I wish they take this as a positive and make the changes they need to make this a great place. Hopefully in a month I will return and give them a second chance. Maybe when I went it was their off day. Either way I wish them the best and good luck! First of all, I have never been to a restaurant that wanted to be a fast food or take out place. They have no menu, you have to go to a wall and read the sign while standing over a table where others are eating. You have to order at the counter register, is this the new Cuban version of McDonald’s? They serve the food in plastic to go boxes, and with plastic utensils. That alone was a bad sign, also the food is microwaved. I ordered the steak medium rare, it was cooked beyond well done. I told the staff my steak was cold in the middle and she replied that’s impossible we cooked it on a grill. I told her the outer edges where so hot it melted the box it was in, but the middle was ice cold. The same with the other things we had. The black beans was hot on the top of the cup but cold when I got halfway. Honestly anyone that cooks at home and has used a microwave knows the difference when something is cooked on a stove versus the microwave. Everything had the indications of microwave. My plastic box plate smelled burnt! On a positive side, the portions is large and the food tasted good and almost authentic. The funny thing, the place has so much potential. The table and chairs look very expensive and when I first walked in that caught my attention. But quickly everything went down hill afterwards when I was told you can sit anywhere after reading the menu from the wall and place your order at the cashier. To the owners: please make a paper menu and have a host sit you at the table. I would love for a waitress to come to the table and explain the menu and the specials. And I would not have mind if she explained that we just started and we are serving everything in paper plates with plastic utensils. All this would have started the experience in a positive and in a let’s give them a chance type of way. And please cook the food! No microwave please and if you do, at least stir the beans so they cook evenly. The steak has to be cooked on a grill. No way you can serve a overcooked microwaved steak and say it came off the grill when it was ice cold in the center. It was precooked and reheated with the microwave! Anyway, despite everything and we need a good Cuban place in town. I will give them a second chance next month and I will update the post hopefully with positive improvements. Good luck to the owners. Muchas suerte y por favor hagan los cambios que les indique arriba.

The food was good. My husband got Ropa Veja and asked for bread to eat with it, but was told that bread is for sandwiches only. That was a shocker as we thought yew could get a bread anywhere, even if we had to pay extra, but apparently not at this place. Mind you that while waiting on our food we saw a man carrying out 3 full trash bags of old bread; we ask where he was taking it, and he said to feed the pigs. Oh well, saving bread to feed the pigs must be more important… The weird part was when they brought the disposable utensils and styrofoam plates and cups for sit-down dining. Ropa Veja was in styrofoam to-go box, so was the salad and rice. Cuban sandwich had lots of ham and just a little bit of pork; I though it normally should be half and half… But what do I know? It was good, but not good enough to go back when we are this way.

This is where I am eating when in Dothan from now on. Excellent! I randomly stumbled upon this place and was so happy I did. Cheap prices for big portions of delicious food, served up in a casual and friendly mom and pop atmosphere. I had the arroz con pollo and a beef empanada(could only eat half there was so much food), and everything was crazy delicious. The chicken was tender, moist, and peeled right off the bone, and the plantains(the best I ever had) were caramelized and rich to the point they reminded me of heavy bread pudding. I know Dothan is full of chain restaurants, and it is hard to find a quality place, but you are doing yourself a disservice if you eat at one of those instead of this place.

I have been consistently dissapointed with non-chain restaurants in dothan and finally found i place I actually enjoyed. The cuban sandwich was delicious and filling. The décor isn’t the greatest but I thought the sandwich was excellent and I will be going back for more.

I have tried this place a few times. The cuban coffee was good but everything else, not so much. Cuban sandwich was extremely fatty. The staff are not too friendly either.

The food was excellent and the staff was exceptionally warm /friendly! The chicken sandwich was delicious, and a very generous portion(I could only eat half) for just $ 7! The café con leche was also tasty. We will most definitely be back!

Can only speak about the Cuban Sandwich which was very good and large. Could have shared one but each of us were able to take half home for next lunch.

If you miss your Cuban abuelita, or desperately wish you had one, this is the place to eat! The food is so hearty, and the meats are so tender… words fail me. A very warm, inviting atmosphere, with amazing customer service! Though it did not depreciate the experience, the music is a tiny bit on the loud side. It was refreshing to find this gem among the Dothan cuisine variety.

The Only place to go for authentic Cuban food in Dothan! Found this place tucked away when dropping off a package at the UPS Store. The classic Cuban Sandwich is a monster. Toasted flat pressed bread, melted cheese, vegetables, and warm meats, this meal will leave you desiring no more. BUT the fresh pastries are a must have! I thoroughly enjoy the Guava & Cheese pastry and take one to go each time I visit. The meat pie is delicious but lacks content so don’t plan on getting full on even 2 of those. Everything is made fresh to order so don’t expect«fast food cooking times». They have alcoholic beverages and combined with the Cuban tunes, this is a fun place for groups. They even have original Cuban sodas and drinks. Ask any of the super helpful and friendly staff for advice about anything on the menu. They teach me something new each time :)

Found this restaurant while passing by. Had lunch there twice. They change the menu daily so always some thing new to try. Of what I know about Cuban food, this is authentic. They are friendly and food is fresh and portions are perfect. First time I had chopped pork with black beans, white rice and plantains, was delicious. Second time I had ground beef with potatoes. It was flavored with typical Cuban herps and spices. I enjoyed it. I would suggest some sort of bread such as flat or tortilla for the meat but was delicious.
