Perfect! There’s really nothing else to say about this park. I primarily use it for trail running, but it’s a wonderful and scenic place to kill time. The trails are top notch and fairly easy to navigate. Well worth the time, and far better than anything else in the Greater Providence area!

This was a total and complete surprise such a beautiful park and Lake hidden away in Douglas, MA. An entrance fee of $ 8.00 per car isn’t overly expensive when you consider what this opens up for you: plenty of parking, a beautiful lake with a vast number of picnic tables among the wooded pines, two very large pavilions which can be reserved for large family/party functions, fishing, boating, swimming, hiking and a large field for soccer or any other type of sports activity. There were many families there who had planned to spend the entire day enjoying the lovely setting, cooking traditional family meals from their country of origin and just relaxing before another week commenced. I must tell you the cooking smells wafting in the air were intoxicating as was the entire experience, this wonderful natural resource is a true hidden Gem!

Perfect Providence day trip. Lake with a small beach, boating options, vast picnic grounds for BBQing, pickup soccer match, and pavilion, quickie 2.2 mile Coffee House hiking trail — and at the intersection of the Mid-State Trail and others if you want to hike for days. Ah — and free parking! And indoor bathrooms with running water! I’m sure it gets more crowded in the summer, but it was worth driving a little farther north on 146 to get a little more solitude than one might find at Lincoln Woods. Well maintained grounds. Well maintained trails.

Hiking biking and picnics Douglas State Forest is a huge place, over 5,500 acres of wonderful woods, rocks and water. There is a nice lake and beach for swimming, fishing and boating and lots of different trials that cut and intersect through the forest. The many trials offer everything to very simple to very difficult terrain and are used for hiking, mountain biking, equestrians and in the winter, snow shoeing and cross country skiing. The trails could be better marked but they all end up somewhere. Around the lake there are lots of grills and picnic tables and decent public bathrooms. This wonderful place has just about anything you could want in a wooded area and is a lovely and well used forest all year long.

Absolutely loved it! Great park and beautiful little lake where the kids can play and have a great time; great place for the family cookout since you can grill there. Safety is always a plus! There are cops surrounding the area making sure there are no alcoholic beverages which is great because you don’t have to see drunk people making a scene while you’re with your little one.

A lovely and expansive park. In the summer you will find boats and kayaks floating in the large lake, enjoying the fresh breezes and sunny skies. There are plenty of trails to spend your time wandering around on. Many of them intersect so you can wander around all day, taking in all of the natural wonders. The Mid State trail is one particular trail that you can follow through several states if you wish. There are picnic tables spread along the banks of the lake if you wish to bring the family for a picnic and a swim in the lake. It’s a great place to enjoy a warm sunny day, or bring the snowshoes if you wish to explore once the white stuff starts falling.

Hullo, fellow Unilocalers! After a year long haitus. I’m back. And what better way to start off a backlog of reviews than sand, summer & fun? In Jan of this year we moved to Woonsocket. Ever curious, toward the beginning of summer I was just itching to find somewhere close, convenient and clean to get mai tan on and hit the water. Granted Lincoln Woods is quite literally 8 minutes away, however for the reasons later to be discussed, I’d rather, er, not. What a wonderful surprise to discover Douglas! I have yet to explore any of the trails thus my review is based mainly on Wallum Lake. The beach is relatively small but kept up very well. For a small admission price of $ 5, there’s no trash, no grungy water and just beautiful surroundings. I love the abundance of bbq pits under the cool shade of the pine trees. The beach crowd here also tends to be pretty family orientated. I’ve stopped by here exclusively on weekdays however: I have heard horror stories in the past on how packed it can be on the weekends. And thankfully. people appear to generally wear swimsuits here(as opposed to full office attire in the water. so unsanitary ahem. more on that later). However. Paul P. does kinda sorta make a valid point regarding the forest visits by Mary Jane: twice this summer I saw beach go-ers head off into the woods with bongs. Definitely not flower picking there. The bathrooms are of the flush variety and are also very tidy. I really do recommend a visit if you’re in the area and looking for a quiet spot to relax.

We went here memorial day weekend. The staff here does not know the trails and the fact that the trails are not marked makes it even worse. I would avoid this place until they clean it up. Very easy to get lost on trails. Oh by the way its great to find pot smokers in the woods here come on rangers do your job!

You feel like you have an entire forest to yourself sometimes. I love this place for a great hike in solitude with beautiful views.
