Well I tried to go there again today, and the whole shopping center has been leveled, soooo guess I won’t be going there anymore. I went to los tacos instead. Its pretty good. but not El Tacomieno.

I’m a big fan of authentic mexican food. I got on Unilocal & saw this location & decided to give it a try. The resturant is very small therfore, I got my food to go. The salsa bar was a lil strange with cucumbers that have been out for a while and have turned brown. I got a few salsas to try as well. I was disappointed with flavor of the Chorizo tacos & salsas. I usually frequent with Taco La Villa and their tacos are much better. I will not return.

From the outside this place looks like it might just be a back alley abortion clinic. Appearances can be deceiving as the interior is wonderfully clean and comfy. The good news is that the tacos are great and the salsas are fantastic. These are true taqueria tacos, not some white guy’s idea of what a taco is.

This is the BEST authentic Mexican food that you can get at a restaurant in Douglas County, by far. If you like flour tortillas, ground beef, sour cream and lettuce, you will be very disappointed. If you like REAL authentic tacos, gorditas and other items and want to know what they are really supposed to taste like, then this is the place to go. And it’s cheap. Can’t beat it. The have a really cool salsa bar with 5 – 6 different salsas, radishes and limes. I have only dined in once, but have gotten takeout more than a dozen times. My favorites: 1. Gorditas al pastor 2. Tacos al pastor(these are more than 99 cents each) 3. Tacos de carne asada(these are 99 cents each) Only some of the tacos are 99 cents, and the others are more. I was confused by that… lol. I love it because that gorditas are handmade. They are lightly fried. Very yummy. The service is okay. But we don’t go there for the service.

Okay. So initially I drove by via the CVS parking lot as I headed to the US Beauty mart and the place looked closed. There was a Navigator outside in front of the restaurant so after I left the US Beauty Mart I drove past here and I am happy that I did… They have an OPEN sign that is not easily visible from the CVS or US Beauty parking lot. I walked into this very small spot and it is has a real authentic Mexican restaurant feel to it. Or at least from my few visits to Mexico, it felt like I had crossed the border again! I was greeted as soon as I came in. The male c ashier said«Order more than one taco please!» I thought okay shorty. I fight men! LOL… Instead of doing just that I smiled and picked up a menu. Then he said look on the back. Of course there were taco’s on the back. So I asked him if his ass was only selling taco’s today? He said Noooo. Most people want to try the 99 cent tacos. So I said, let me just look over the menu. Okay? He waited patiently as I looked over the menu and then i ordered 3 tacos(2 Asada and 1 Chicken) and a Chicken Burrito. No Sour Cream please. 20 minutes later my food arrived. I recall there being 2 different types of shells that you can get for the tacos. But he did NOT ask me what kind I wanted. I thought that he was a bit rude and rushing me but I stayed cool because over all he didn’t have a bad attitude, just a little too impatient for me. He brought the food to my table and was looking like get the F out! LOL… Soooo, I brought the meals home and opened this small square piece of foil paper first. Inside were the three tacos. They were the smallest taco’s I have ever seen! :) I would say take the ends off of a Taco Bell hard shell and you would have one of these. But let me tell you. These small tacos were packed with big of CHUNKS of Steak and Chicken in them. They where wonderful. I believe I tasted cilantro and I know they have small pieces of onion in each. I was pleased, but next time I will get the Flour shell and not let him decide for me. The Chicken Burrito came in a container with Rice and Refried Beans and a back row of Queso Cheese. I added some of the rice and cheese to taco number 2 and I was in heaven all over again. The Chicken Burrito was so stuffed full of Chunks of Chicken that I could only eat ¼ of it. I am no Mexican food expert, but if you are in the area and have 20 – 30 minutes then please stop by this place. I am going to give them a 4 Star but if I go back up in there and Mr. Cashier(Probably the Owner) has an attitude I’m giving his ass a 2 ½ next time because customer service means a lot to me!
