I’m sad this place is gone. The food was always SO GOOD. We mostly got take out from here. And it was totally worth it. The one time we dined in wasn’t quite as amazing. But. The food was always good.

I gave this place ⁴⁄₅ stars because the food is consistently amazing. What is consistently bad? The customer service.
THE FOOD:
My favorite thing to get is the brown stew chicken with rice and peas and plantains. Most of the meals come with your choice of two traditional Jamaican sides (rice and peas, plantain, vegetables, plantain, etc). Jerk chicken, curry chicken, oxtail, red snapper, etc are a few choices that they offer (they have a longer list). I love that they carry Ting and Kola Champagne! The two bad things when it comes to the food is that it takes forever (but it’s SO worth the wait), and that they only have beef patties until 3:00.

CUSTOMER SERVICE:
I’ve eaten here several times with my husband and brought friends to try the food… because it’s legit really tasty so I think I can honestly say the customer service could be better. Sometimes we get greeted when we enter. sometimes we don’t. Drinks take forever to appear after we order and it’s never busy when we dine in. Also, it’s great that they check to make sure our meal and everything is fine but for the love of God please don’t come and ask us if we’re ready for our check when there’s still food on our plates. Lastly, servers should ask how the check will be divided… not just assume that eeeveryone sitting at the table are paying together. Those are my only complaints… BUT THE FOOD IS REALLY REALLY GOOD.

I’m sad to say, but unfortunately I can’t rate this place very high from my dine in experience. A little bit of training could help this store out a lot. Some of the things that were lacking: a warm welcome as I came in, sweet tea to drink, ice, straws, chicken party’s, and some of the advertised food was 86. The server wasn’t rude, but she didn’t seem sure on her answers, or interested in the customers needs. The store itself was empty, which was sad because was actually quite good. Another thing I noticed was that the tv’s were all turned off and there was no music playing in the background. In short, the food is good and flavorful, but everything else needs a little improvement.

This is my second time going to this place. The first time the gentleman was very polite. Today I went in for lunch and this big fat black woman was so rude. She didn’t say can I help you. She just stared at me and waited for me to say what I wanted. She never said thank you or anything. I hope she is not the owners wife because if she is I won’t ever return this place again. I don’t know if it was jealousy or what. I know when I walked in the men stared at me and she was just looking with attitude. If you look good expect to be treated like shit.

Great food, great customer service and best of all a very clean restroom… lol! I will definetely be back and highly recommend this place.

I wanted a quick carry out lunch and was craving jerk chicken. Aside from the chicken and the rice and beans that come with it being much too sweet, I had to wait almost an hour for take out!
Work on your time management and I will consider coming back again.

Great food, full of flavor and spice. Had the Jerk chicken, Curry chicken and the curry shrimp. It was all great and I love the fried plantains and rice n peas!

My first visit was for lunch yesterday. Saw the &5.99 special advertised outside the store as I drove by.
I had the Jerk Chicken plate with rice n peas and steamed veggies. The food was amazing. Everything was well seasoned, the chicken fall off the bone moist. I was so pleased with my lunch that I returned the same evening with my brother in tow for dinner. I had a curry chicken roti… Yumm!!!
The cook and owner Glenville is not only a great cook but he pays a visit personally to all his guests. I love this place and will be back!

The service and food have always been great. The prices and quality of food are a bargain and the activities later in the week and weekend are worth checking out. I hope things workout for this business…

Do not go here on a Saturday evening if you expect to place a food order for take out. Once we arrived my daughter and I sat in the car because it was after 9:00 and there was a lot of drinking, it was very loud, and a DJ was playing music right next to the front door. All of which is understandable since it is a ‘bar’ and grill. My problem is that they should not advertise that they sell food because they are clearly not equipped to provide good service. There were only 2 people working. After my husband placed the order they told him that they would ‘call him’ and let him know when the order would be ready. It took over an hour to get 3 meals.
The Oxtails were good, the wings were good, but the escovitch fish was NOT escovitch fish. It was simply a piece of whole fish, deep fried. They were out of all the sides that we like. (Plantains, dumplings and yams).
They definitely cater more to the drinking crowd than they do people looking for a meal.

I was very excited to hear about a new restaurant in our area! So, I decide to take the wife and kids to Island Bar & Grill. We were recommended to this spot so we were pumped up to try the Jamaican style entrees. The server/​bar tender was very cordial… Therefore we choose to dine-​in. My family was seated quickly… but that is where the speediness ended! The service was very slow… Our order got screwed up! Also wanted to order Jamaican Escoveitched Fish but the server told us it would take 50 mins to make the dish… So I choose something else on the menu. (awhh Maaaan!) The food was very good… it just took forever to get! I thought they were flying to Jamaica to get the food! Overall, The food was great but the service needs a lot of work… I think I will call ahead with my order and eat at home next time!
